FoxyPV Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 A bit of craic for everyone. I've just done this and cut over £79bn out of the the amount spent and I was being generous except on defence - over £22bn saved there. Here the link. Have fun!!
Guest Bilo Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 How? Even by being a bit of a dick (cutting 10% off all devolved spending, scrapping S4C and getting rid of PCSOs) I only cut £24 billion. George Osborne must be ruthless as shit.
Rocket-Ron Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Scraping the NHS saves you £100.2b .... out of a £115.85b budget. Perhaps finding the £15.65b difference would help for starters. I'm dead good at this
Alexikokopops Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 I done £52.75 billion. Easy peasy. I don't know what everyone's moaning about.
Finnegan Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Fvcking leave S4C alone you bastard. My source of sport that is!
cambridgefox Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Wales and scotland want to be independant.theyve got it!!!
foxoffderby Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Get rid of the NHS. Adopt the American system on healthcare. You pay you get treatment. Contribute to the system you get help. Encourages people to work as companies have to provide healthcare plans to all emplyees. The work shy get sod all as they don't contribute. Why should my hard earned taxes pay for the work shy or everybody else. I want to pay taxes which help my family not the rest of society. I've worked all my life never claimed a penny yet there are others who have never worked yet claim everything. Simple Darwinism and hundreds of millions saved. Job seekers allowence/income support should be a minimal whats the incentive to work when people say im better off on the dole then doing something for minimal wage. I've got one child and thats it. They cost a bomb these days to bring up. Yet others have 5 plus even some who have double digets. They play the system and end up earning more in benefits then what I do working and paying my taxes and only having 1 child. Its a joke.

foxoffderby Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 You might need it one day!! not really im happy to pay and go private. The people there are over worked tired and little time for you.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Fvcking leave S4C alone you bastard. My source of sport that is! Make it a commercial channel paid for by adverts. PRIVATISE EVERYTHING, EAT THE POOR.
Jon the Hat Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Make it a commercial channel paid for by adverts. PRIVATISE EVERYTHING, EAT THE POOR. It could work. If we make the NHS pay as you go then the poor will be selling their relatives to pay for medical treatment.

Exchanging our system for the American system would be fvcking stupid, the NHS provides a far superior health care system. Don't take my word for it, take the WHOs. The UK stands at 18th in the world rankings and the US is at 37th, below Chile, Dominica and Costa Rica. This in spite of their health spending per capita being the highest in the world. So the hundreds of millions being saved is a bit of a myth. Yes it's saved off your tax bill, but companies and private individuals pick up the considerably higher cost. If sacked or made redundant, you lose your health care. If made redundant for medical reasons, you're left with an astronomical health insurance bill that you have to pay yourself. Also, a privatised healthcare system works purely for profit so costs a lot but much of that cash goes into shareholders pockets rather than on the frontline. Incidentally, the best healthcare system in the world is in France which adopts a system similar to the NHS but with the tax burden considerably higher than in the UK. Yet in spite of that, the French system is still cheaper per capita than the private system in the US.
jonthefox Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 I saved a total of £33 billion, and didnt touch defence, health or education. Most of my savings came from the scotland and wales offices. I f they want autonomy, they can pay for it...simples.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 It could work. If we make the NHS pay as you go then the poor will be selling their relatives to pay for medical treatment. I can see both sides. I'd never want to see the BBC privatised because I believe it's a great institution but S4C is useful only to Welsh speakers, whom are in the minority in the UK as a whole so you could argue that the channel doesn't represent the best use of English, Scottish and Northern Irish taxpayers money. At the same time, it's an excellent service for Welsh people and for the very reason I've already stated, its commercial attractiveness is probably limited. At most, an advertiser could only broadcast to a couple of million people whereas other British commercial channels have a potential catchment of 60 million people. I really do think the NHS should be left well alone though, you only need look at the US to see healthcare for profit is a bad idea.

Guest Bilo Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 So what has this to do with Pete townsend?? I'm confused.....
Rocket-Ron Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 I'm confused..... Sorry I first read the World Health Organisation as The Who.
Finnegan Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 The American system of healthcare is one of the biggest social travesties of the Western world.

Savings jumped from £29 billion to £44 billion. I'd be an unpopular chancellor in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Merthyr Tydfill though.
DB11 Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 I saved the lot. Unfortunately, we became a bit like Africa.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 October 2010 Posted 19 October 2010 Here are my particularly brutal cuts.
