AoWW Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 I had one... hated it so much... gave it away. I've got a ultrabook - admittedly not quite so portable but I still manage easily enough. Much prefer it to the iPad.
Strokes Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 I'm not a fan of the ipad/iPhone, poor value and very restrictive. I do have an ipad through work, so I can understand the appeal but its just not for me. I'm looking at the windows surface tablet range for my next tablet, and getting rid of both tablet and laptop then.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Until you get one you just don't realise how useful they are and how much you'd use it. I was skeptical but then I bought one and now I use it all the time. I have the wifi + data iPad Air and I use it for web browsing, social networking, messaging, and I use it for all of my note taking (Pages) at Uni. It's also good to have for presentations to refer to rather than loads of paper. It's also a better screen than a phone for watching either TV (Sky Go, iPlayer etc.) or videos, either downloaded or ones you've put on. Plus now I've got Apple TV so I can mirror it to my TV etc How do you find typing on it during lectures? I have pages on my pad (2) but takes me ages to type properly.
Hollism Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Mines just the wifi one, but I get 18gb of data with my iPhone contract so just tether it with Bluetooth
Nick Posted 10 January 2015 Author Posted 10 January 2015 I'm in the market for a new one this weekend. I quite fancy the mini but the only difference I can see between the ipad mini 2 and the 3 is the fingerprint entry - apart from that are they exactly the same?
Matt Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Anyone got one of the smart covers? I currently have a cover, bought a cheap one of the market but it doesn't fold back flat on the back of the iPad, It folds in order to stand up like the do but it's not been designed to sit flat, if you know what I mean? Just makes it a little uncomfortable/awkward to hold when you want to hold it as opposed to standing it up Is that the case with one of the smart covers or do the fold back flat?
Tincy Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 I've had one for about a year, and hardly ever use it.

I'm pretty sure that's the only difference. Someone I know who works for the Apple Store said the same to me. I bet they've still shifted a fair few though

I bet they've still shifted a fair few though Yeah apparently this is the case - the thing is with the pads is that apps and tech are being developed all the time which work around these minute changes like the fingerprint system and before you know it your device is considered vintage! highest Spec pad out there at the moment is the ipad air 2 which I'm going to have a butchers at later this week.
yorkie1999 Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 i use an ipad to run my guitar stuff through using an app called ampkit and a line 6 interface. Works perfectly and the built in amps and effects are modelled on the original circuitry so the sound is spot on.
Samilktray Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Had my ipad replaced for me, for Christmas, with a Samsung Galaxy Tab. Used it more in the last 3 weeks than I did my ipad in about 4 years. Couldn't tell you why though.

Couldn't tell you why though. Maybe because the range of apps for Android is so much wider and better? Using apple must be like doing all your shopping in a convenience store in comparison.
