Mike the Metal Ed Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Glad to hear Sir Peter supports this, I'll send him my letter to him before the end of the weekend.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 I e-mailed him to ask for his support for the BBC earlier this year, and he replied within four hours. He's a great representitive.

Fosse Boy Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 He does seem to be one of the right'uns to be fair. Wish I could say the same about ours.

Very good listen. The Wednesday baffoon - totally against it, when asked what could go wrong...."well I dont have a clue" Its all about crowd management.
Fosse Boy Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 Ha. What got mewas that Norwich bloke who said his son's six foot and would get scared on a terrace?!?!
Simmo86 Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 No reply from my MP yet. Supporter unity in the UK really lets us down on this subject, if supporters who wanted to stand actually got together across the UK and made the point every saturday, this would get more press/tv coverage and continue to gain momentum. Its all well and good saying 9 out of 10 fans would want a choice whether to stand or not, but noboby actually makes any stand (no pun intended) about this at any games! Can see this getting swept under the carpet again which is frustrating!
Guest Bilo Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 Very good listen. The Wednesday baffoon - totally against it, when asked what could go wrong...."well I dont have a clue" Its all about crowd management. Ha. What got mewas that Norwich bloke who said his son's six foot and would get scared on a terrace?!?! Agree with both of these. It really does highlight just how poor some of the arguments against standing are when debates like this happen.
Tilley Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 People talking about this in Parliament? Jesus. Shouldn't our MP's be discussing something important?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 The idea of putting rails along each row (thus preventing surging and crushin) is so breathtakingly simple and blindingly obvious.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 People talking about this in Parliament? Jesus. Shouldn't our MP's be discussing something important? I know you're just trolling or being exceptionally thick as ever, but you'd be surprised at the range of topics that goes through the House of Commons during a week. It's not all about economy, health and education. The fact is, that this at the very least, needs action from the Home Secretary, so it has to go through Parliament.

Father Ted Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 I wonder if I'll get a response from Keith Vaz....

Fox You Forest Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Got a reply from my MP asking for my Home Address. Im assuming to check that i am in his constituency. Either that or you're being groomed.
lcfc_jme Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Got a great reply from my MP to be fair.. Oh wait, no I didn't. He couldn't be arsed. Nice bloke.
Jackirius Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Thank you for your email of 13 December about the introduction of safe standing areas at football stadia in the UK. I am writing to the Minister concerning this matter and will be in touch with you again as soon as I hear further. Yours sincerely, Keith Simpson MP Reckon i should write anything back?
Guest BlueBrett Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Reckon i should write anything back? Nah I'd just wait if I were you. Give him a fortnight or something and if you havn't heard ask him for an update. I am feeling quite optimistic that there could be a change in the legislation at some point next year. The Coalition have stated on numerous occasions that they intend to dismantle the ridiculous health and safety culture they inherited from Labour. I think it could well be more than rhetoric too because the relevant principles are ones which the Tories and Lib Dems pretty much share. Given what has been happening lately in politics it could be a convenient little issue around which they can build a bit of consensus so whereas something like this would usually be put on the back burner or ignored, political expediency could actually work in football fans' favour for once.
davieG Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 I'd prefer the Home Secretary used him time more productively. Well he used enough of it bringing in the stupid legislation the least he could do is spend a little time repealing it.
ajthefox Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 The Leeds fan who wants unreserved seating I'd argue appealing for safe standing is almost a sideways step and would just hinder the argument for safe standing areas, which is what is wanted. the reason I say that is because even though it would be an improvement, i imagine it would take much less effort than changing the legislation on standing and would give those who are opposed to standing an easy way out, for example they could buff off arguments for standing because they've just given us fans something we asked for. asking for one chance and then another soon after would make the second less likely imo.
CosbehFox Posted 21 December 2010 Posted 21 December 2010 On the topic, http://www.theposh.com/page/MoysEnd/0,,10427~2239486,00.html P'boro better get their hat together, so we can give this terrace a good send-off.
