zubi Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Did anybody but the seriously deluded and fanatical seriously think that Sven would somehow turn City into a team of title contenders? Southgate did not refer to him as Ian Duncan Smith for nothing. He lacks Charisma, tactical ability, motivational techniques - everything needed in a good manager. It is only because muppets become blind to all these things when somebody comes to Leicester in the old 'get behind the lads' mentality - it clouds their judgement. Listen, write off next season as well, and how many seasons Sven wants to stay. He'll have his agents working on the Owners telling them how wonderful he is and how much he wants to stay, trying to get him a big 5 year contract. Seriously man, if he was any good, why is he HERE? But, muppets will carry on with their support for him until it's too late. City fans are so fickle. What team do you support?
Sk4 Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 We need to be realistic now and perhaps focus on building a challenging team for a promotion push for next season , consolidating our championship status this season will be a start .
AmyLGK Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Please can we all stop being so silly and reserve judgement till after the Jan transfer window closes!?!?!
Salieri Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Please can we all stop being so silly and reserve judgement till after the Jan transfer window closes!?!?! I agree but try convincing the hysterical element (approx 95%) of the forum.

We aren't playing well, no consistency (other than always losing away) - but the rest of the league from position 3/4 down are similar - it's very tight in terms of points. If we can stay less than 9 points off playoff by the end of Jan, and get our act together - we can still do it.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 To put some perspective to the situation we are only 6 points ahead of the relegation zone and most clubs have 2 or 3 games in hand (Fo***t) are a point ahead with 4 games in hand. It isnt happening this season and unless we purchase some inspirational players in January transfer window i think we will be looking over our shoulders more than play off spots
Narborough_fox Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Premier League be ready for Leicester City... soon.

But, muppets will carry on with their support for him until it's too late. City fans are so fickle. This is pretty much how I'm starting to see it He lacks motivation techniques which is why we're always shit in the first half, and its not until its we're really up shit creek that the players pride kicks in and the pull a rabbit out of the hat (or not as is increasingly the case) Lack of tactical ability is clear - he's not changed his tactics despite 99% of people seeing that we really must do to stop shipping goals and give ourselves a chance of winning Charisma - I don't mind someone who sits on the bench doing very little if they have the previous two points which Sven appears not to have We all remember that Sven had a wobble at England he had dinner with Chelsea bosses - was handed a mega-deal by the FA so he became to expensive to sack... I have no doubt that if he ever could go on a mini-run he'll be doing the same to our owners. I've been fully behind Sven - but like you say maybe some of that was clouded by the 'get behind the lads mentality' Still, we have 22 games left... I'll be behind Sven whilst he's loyal to us, I just wish he'd show some tactical nous and change things 4-4-2 is obviously not working for us away from home
cc_star Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Only 5 points off play-offs. Almost every club has 2 to 3 games in hand on us, being near the bottom 3 or even in it, is a distinct possibility once people have played their games
Dylan Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 I'm normally optimistic but the play-offs are fading fast in my view. We'd need a fantastic run from here to the end of the season in my opinion. If we don't start getting good results in the next few games, its going to be quite a boring end to the season as play-offs will be out of reach, but we'll never be in danger of relegation.

MOT Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 You don'tknow what you are talking about. Sven could be on a much more lucrative contract at a bigger club if he wanted. He could quit tomorrow and walk into the next prem team to sack their boss. He is here because he is motivated by achieving things and he recognises that getting Leicester back to the prem would be a huge achievement. and btw, how is keeping faith with somebody a symptom of being fickle?! That's absolute rubbish Sven is a mercenary, always has been. He's only here because your owners will pay him more than anyone else, as soon as a bigger job comes along he;ll be off.

MOT Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Examples please. Maybe i'm cynical but do people really believe he is at leicester because he wants to achieve something with them? An unfashionale (not my words) midlands club Look at his record, jumps ship as soon as things get a bit hairy or as soon as more money is on the table, you'd have been better off with Pearson (a manager I rate)
davieG Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Leicester City coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has set a two-year timeline for the club to win promotion back to the Premier League, according to a news report Tuesday. "If it takes longer than two years for us to reach the Premier League, the media and fans will tire (of me). So I hope we can make it," Eriksson told Stockholm daily Svenska Dagbladet.Eriksson, who took the job at Leicester in October, has coached eight European clubs and three national sides, including Ivory Coast at the World Cup in South Africa. He said he had been offered to stay on, but declined to detail what prevented him from extending his contract with the West Africans. In the interview he underlined that he is not very concerned about status, and that he was quite self confident. "In football you are sometimes criticised, sometimes hailed. There is never moderation," he said. "But I know what I can do, and what I can't." The Swedish national said he still had an "appetite" for football, and recalled that the year after he stepped down as England manager in 2006 was trying since he didn't have a coaching position. "I was stressed, nervous and restless," he said.

Guest ttfn Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Examples please. I don't buy the "Sven is a mercenary" line but a good example is him agreeing to manage Blackburn and then going to Lazio in '97. That's the only one I can think of.

MOT Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Examples please. Look at his early managerial days ( four teams in 7 years) Becoming Mexico manager (after leaving City by "mutual consent",) obviously for more money. Failing at Mexico and chasing the money at Notts County, who had new exciting middle eastern owners and who wanted to splash the cash. When they got taken over Sven promptly resigned. Becoming Cote D'Ivoire manager "Disclosure of the amount of money Eriksson’s contract was worth has never been confirmed," for all of one summer. Despite being offered terms to stay on, he joined Leicester, (recently taken over leicester I might add)
Guest ttfn Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 Rome or east Lancashire? Yeah, it must have been a money thing. In truth it came down to HotPot or pizza. And Sven bloody loves a Hawaiin.

He took the job at Notts Co when he was unemployed and when the owners were proved to be frauds he waived the £2million still owed to him. He was offered an additional contract at the Ivory coast after the world cup which he declined. How does any of that prove he's a mercenary?
