Can we all admit now, premier league this season isnt happening...

Never! if we win 5 on the bounce we will be right up in the play offs and I still think we are capable of going on a run like that.

As BB says, this could quite seriously happen. I will never give up on optimism even though I was throwing things at my pc listening to the way we capitulated today. I always believe that we can until it is mathematically impossible to do so. Keep the Faith!! :scarf:

All good things take time. I think we were spoilt a bit with the instant success of the MON era. We now have the finances and a second year of semi-stability in the Championship behind us.

In this league, it only takes a bit of tinkering and every team seems capable of beating each other. The majority of our team has started the season with either a different club or a different manager (sometimes even both). It will take a little bit more time for the players to gel and get a run together. I agree with others that a proven goal-scorer is needed on the pitch. I think we have a few of them at the club. Waggy should be given a run in the team. He plays his heart out for the club everytime he is on the pitch. Given his age, he is only going to get better. More importantly, with the football SGE is trying to play, he is the most adept to playing it.

Just my opinion, but hey ho.

Sven isn't a mercenary. He gets offered the money, why wouldn't he take it?

He's a good manager and given time I believe will do a good job for this club.

We won't go up this year, we won't be in the top six. Use our resources well and we could be challenging next season.

If we can't beat Millwall then we are basically shit all round. As i said not long ago for the games against Leeds, Millwall, Hull and Swansea - we will only get a point out of just the Leeds game and lose to the others.

I hate people who say we are shit :@

Go and support Man Utd.

My biggest fear is that if we don't get promotion this season (which is fairly unlikely, lets be honest - I'm as optimistic as the next guy but even if we get into the playoffs, we've still got to win them) then either the owners will be unnecessarily impatient and naive and sack SGE (again, unlikely) or SGE will be drawn to a top flight team in the summer, which is more likely in my eyes.

I'm not saying either of these outcomes will happen if we don't get promoted this season, but I'm just worried in case they do.

I don't think SGE will jump ship if we aren't promoted this season. I'm sure he knew when he took over that it would be against all odds to go up this time out.

Did anybody but the seriously deluded and fanatical seriously think that Sven would somehow turn City into a team of title contenders? Southgate did not refer to him as Ian Duncan Smith for nothing. He lacks Charisma, tactical ability, motivational techniques - everything needed in a good manager. It is only because muppets become blind to all these things when somebody comes to Leicester in the old 'get behind the lads' mentality - it clouds their judgement.

Listen, write off next season as well, and how many seasons Sven wants to stay. He'll have his agents working on the Owners telling them how wonderful he is and how much he wants to stay, trying to get him a big 5 year contract. Seriously man, if he was any good, why is he HERE?

But, muppets will carry on with their support for him until it's too late. City fans are so fickle.

I can honestly say that I see only one muppet around here ;) . What a depressing post/signature.

Lets all burn our season tickets and watch Tigers every week, City are doomed as so spoken by Someburn.

I'm deluded enough to think that there is still a good possibility of us reaching the playoffs.

I've been looking at the final Championship tables for the last 9 years because basically I'm a big geek who likes numbers. To secure 6th place a points total of between 71 and 76 has been required with the average points required being just over 74. Whilst this is not impossible it would require us to pick up an average of just over 2 points per game over the remainder of the season - which is basically automatic promotion form (and would indeed have been Championship winning form for 3 out of the last 9 seasons).

Personally I believe that this is beyond us for this season. I would like to see us bringing in players during the January transfer window with a view to getting them to gel for the remainder of this season so that we can have a settled pre-season and hit the ground running at the start of next season when I will be expecting automatic promotion.

For any fans that are already doubting Sven they may wish to consider the following. Since Sven has been in charge we have picked up an average of 1.5 points per game. At this point in the season that would see us sitting in 6th place with 36 points and only 4 points off automatic promotion. We all need to remember the position that we were in before Sven joined the club and be prepared to judge him on his results and not the poor league position that is mainly down to the position that we were in when he joined us. I also analysed the last 9 years worth of league tables when Sven took over. The highest position that any team has achieved after having only 8 points from the first 10 games is 14th - with half of those teams being relegated at the end of the season.

I firmly believe that Sven will have us finishing in the top half of the table which for me would still demonstarte that we are making progress under him. His club management record is exceptional and lets remember that he has not even had a transfer window yet to really bring in any of his own players.

we're only half way through the season ffs! Nothing is confirmed in terms of promotion! maybe the top two is out of our reach but the play offs are definately not! There is still a long way to go, and we can get there for sure, BUT we need to improve our away form. I hate how everyone changes their views after only three poor results. It was only after donny that everyone thought we'd get into the top two!

Very interesting post which provides a bit of perspective backed up by facts.

We have picked up 1 point out of a possible 6 in the most important time of all!

Especially losing to a league 1 team is shocking.

Why is sven sorting us out, were 18th aint we and people have games in hand over us?

bollox to promotion...on this form we're looking more like relegation material

Our form under Sven is nowhere near as bad as people are making out.

stats are important of course, however, having seen City home and away for the past few games, including Watford and fackin Millwall our defence is shambolic... the point I was making is that we seem to be declining, not improving, with shades of Ollie all over again
