Curtis Davies

Just read on the BBC that Villa want to sign £6m Samba from Blackburn and are offering £2.5m rated Curtis Davies as part of the deal.

Blackburn are of course newly very rich so I can't see them taking an inferior player to what's already on their books, but you never know.

Whether he goes or not it highlights the dangers of building the backbone of our team around other people players.

Sven is clearly looking for a CB, what are you on about?

The next few days will see all the players Sven has been linked with going elsewhere and that could well include the loan signings.

Happy New Year!

Optimism...that's what i love to see. lol

In case you hadn't noticed Davies occasionally turns out for us, when he isn't injured of course.

We know or at least we think we know Sven is signing a CB, but it is common perception that the signing would partner Davies, displacing Vitor/Hobbs as Davies has supposed to of already extended his stay with us to the end of the season.

But if Davies was to return to Villa so they could sell him... Then we'd be looking for 2 CBs, no?

That's what I'm talking about what are you talking about?

You stated 'Whether he goes or not it highlights the dangers of building the backbone of our team around other people players. '

Davies has made it quite clear that he had his foot out the door and the car running should any Prem team come looking. I'd say Sven always had this in mind. Vitor was here before Sven's arrival. Sven brought in Naughton and Cunningham in my opinion as a stop-gap. Naughton is excellent and has shown great enthusiasm and will to play for us. Sven will want him permanently and if not for the rest of season is just as good, and then maybe we can sign him then. Whilst Cunningham isn't the same standard is good enough. The same applies to him. Sven is looking for a perm solution is its available in this window, but not for the sake of it.

When did Davies EVER look as though he was going to stay? Thus 'the common perception' that Sven was looking for a partner for him. Whose this majority, you?

Yes, in an ideal world we would want to keep a CB of his capabilities, but he has shown little interest in staying, and his performances have shown this.

That states staying until January.

Are you on drugs?

No he's the one that:

Doesn't think Svens signings are any good.

That his conacts are too good for us.

Thinks Sven can't motivate players.

Thinks he's tactically inept.

Thinks anything good since Sven came is down to new manager syndrome, and anything bad is Svens fault.

And basically all round turns every thread into a Svens a bit shit thread.

But categorically doesn't think he should be sacked, although everything he posts points to the opposite.

Looks liek he wont be staying here then, though we all knew he was after a Prem team and he was only with us as a temporary measure.

Started off well, but the last 4/5 games he has been poor.

What Sven's signings have improved on what was already here? Naughton and....

Beckham & Co are never going to come to us, to think otherwise is to be blind fanboy

Sven can't motivate players you only have to look at the way the team turnout for the first half... they only play for pride when they're 2-nil down

He is tactically inept... the enforced changes meant our backline was a whole lot more cohesive today and we got a clean sheet. Tinkering around with the dreadful Kirkland and indifferent Davies has cost us points during the busiest period of the year... despite the leakiest defence in the division he waits for injuries to Kirkland, Davies & Vitor to change the backline which if he'd have done sooner we may not have been on such a terrible run.

New manager syndrome saw us vastly improve, once that wore off things dived... Bad things are Sven's fault because they're Sven's actions which caused them like signing too many loan players, unsettling quality players on the books & not giving players a fair chance in the team

I don't want him sacked, because he's not had a good run at the job, its far too soon, kinda obviously :frusty:

Jesus you are so blindly one sided it's laughable.

The brilliant defence you seem to think we had let in goals by the bucket load at the start of the season. 3 at palace, 3 at Norwich and six at Portsmouth to name a few. Like it or not we did become more solid after his signings. Having seen morrisons games it's hardly a surprise he's not been nest the team as he produced some of the worst individual performances I have ever seen at palace and pompey.

New manager syndrome, if it's such a forgone conclusion that this happens what happened to us under Holloway, Sousa and 500 other teams who's results didn't improve.

How about if you want to blame him for things going wrong (his decisions as you say) you also give him credit for the good. They were his decisions also!! Every team hits a bad patch and we hit one in the last few games, yet we beat a form team away from home today.

With regards beckham etc. If you don't ask you dont get, he knows more players than just the a-list. But I'd rather he started at the top and worked his way down the list.

Did you go to games last year? Because us needing a goal to get us going was a pretty common phenomenon!!

You praised Pearsons tactics saying he's better than Sven, what happened today? Because our tactics meant they made two early changes to try and compete.

The only thing laughable around here is people's belief that one swallow makes a summer

One win & we're league champions & every international ever is going to join us (even if they are all nearly as old as Sven)

Laughable & sad in equal measure!

http://tribalfootball.com/articles/villa-boss-houllier-happy-davies-stay-leicester-1357731

Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies is set to stay on-loan at Leicester City.

Villa boss Gerard Houllier is happy for centre-back Davies to remain on loan at Leicester.

He said: "I had a call from (Leicester manager) Sven-Goran Eriksson on Thursday night and, if the boy (Davies) wants to stay and there's no change here, it's better for him to play.

"We've got Richard Dunne, who I think will be back, James Collins, Carlos Cuellar and Ciaran Clark so that's four defenders.

"I'll probably speak to him (Davies) after the period of the new year."

It's Davies that wants the move to another Prem Club. Villa don't care.

Your so obnoxious its unbelievable

Some people clearly will get carried away with where our club is heading with new and owners and to have someone like sven at the helm, expectations clearly rise. It's ok not to buy into the hype be cautious and pragmatic about the clubs progress under sven but you must have sunglasses and walking stick to to blindly spout utter nonsense about a vastly successful and experienced manager like sven.

People like you bring the club down with the negativity. I would like to think we can have stability with a consistent manager able to build his own team over time. It seems Leicester seems to attract fans that see any negatives (am not saying there arn't any) outweigh any positives, we clearly need to have balanced thinking on the matter and give sven a chance for Christ sake.

moan over.

Well if he's coming back he needs to show he's committed to LCFC for the rest of the season, the last few games he's played like he wished he was somewhere else if that's the best he can deliver then no thanks..

There's mixed messages coming from Sven he's said he wants to retain Naughton, Davies and Cunningham (before his injury) but he's also said the defence is not good enough and leaking too many goals, something needs to change, we need players who want to play for us not just to use us to get fit.

Totally agree.

I think Davies was totally overrated by everyone on here, almost going by his own reputation of a Prem player who was sold at £8 million for once.

He started off well, but doesnt look like he has ever formed a good defensive partnership with Hobbs/Vitor/Who ever. He has played purely for himself, but in times that could be said for the whole defence but Davies has been the worst.

I personally dont think he is the defender we need, and I dont believe he is really any better than Hobbs or what we already have.
