Finnegan Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Waghorn says hi, although even he probably needs a big man alongside him I said a goalscorer, not a fifteen-a-season trier. I love Waghorn, one of my favourite City players. But he's not going to be leading the line any time soon.
Thracian Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Need proven players at Championship level. That's not necessarily true at all. We've had plenty of "proven" players who've been worse than awful. And if Sven knows/sees a guy he thinks has the right qualities for Championship football then he should go it. Some managers are forever pulling good players from lower leagues and even supplementary-League football. A lot depends on how good your coaching is and your motivational skills.

Considering we are the club that had O'Neill not so long ago you'd think some people would realise that just because a player isn't proven at this level, doesn't mean they won't be any good.
sdb Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Bert, any indication on the likelihood of Naughton signing? I'd have thought we'd have wrapped it up some time ago if he was willing, or am I just being pessimistic. It'd be dreadful if he joined another Championship team. Oh, and the Beckenbauer comment
davieG Posted 5 January 2011 Author Posted 5 January 2011 Certain managers are good at spotting potential or turning a sow's ear into a silk purse and have no idea how to deal or work with established stars and some are better at using established 'stars' and have no idea about how to spot raw talent and develop them with many shades in between. I suspect Sven is more of the latter.
FoxyPV Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 He is strong, a good header of the ball and rather quick. Technically, he is not Franz Beckenbauer but he is certainly okay. He's a black Wayne Brown then.
The Doctor Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 He's a black Wayne Brown then. well the article said rather quick so definately not.
ajthefox Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 well the article said rather quick so definately not. "black people are fast runners stereotype" hence black wayne brown.
