The only players he gets are the once not getting into the reserves at their current clubs. Yakubu, Carew, Gudjohnsen and other Premier stars will not be attracted by Leicester. We will get the Bamba's and Parker's from smaller clubs. We wll probably also sign another Japanese or a Sout Korean player who no one knows. Please post rumours about players that actually can come to us. Southampton wingers and other players from the Championship or League 1 would be good targets. We will just wait and see who is coming, but it's time to get some cold water on the rumour shower at this forum, since most of it is rubbish

If sven and the bosses turn to people like Yakubu,Gudjohnson etc witha 60,000 per week pay cheque for playing week in week out i recokn they may be swayed this way
cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 I think Abe came from the owners Far Eastern connections, even though he arrived before they officially took over, if not its quite a strange signing (but a good one) It stands to reason that in the mid-term they would want a S.Korean international in the team at some point to simply for the marketing opportunities over there It seems that any reasonably big name doesn't want to come to us I put this down to one of three reasons 1) Our league position makes it look like promotion is a hope, rather than a solid chance... these players don't want to be out the top flight for 10/11 and 11/12 because of the Euro Championships in 2012 2) Sven doesn't have the pull he once had, and the Sol Campbell to Notts County was a freak occurrence rather than a reasonable expectation of what he can do in the transfer market. 3) The owners aren't coming up with competitive packages so even relegation candidates in the Prem look brighter prospects It is odd that the players to join us are Bamba & Parker (although that's not gone through yet) and not one of the mega-names (or even semi-mega) that the owners said they'd fund & Sven could surely attract Or a combination of all 3 Still, there's 24 days left which is plenty of time to make it a moot point and a host of signings could come.

There are hundreds of players scattered over Europe that fits this legaue and are a lot cheaper than players already here. Wonder what Bamba would have cost if he already was in this league? It's a myth that players have to suit this legaue. If you have great players you walk this league as you walk every league if you have better players than the rest. Put three Vassells in front and they run in circles around championships defence. If you buy players from surronding clubs you get less value than if you buy foreign and use them wise. Look at three of the players he brought to Man City - Elano, Corluka, Petrov.

Beckham yes, but 99% of clubs get snubbed by Beckham. He even said it was a long shot with more hope than any real promise. Yakubu hasn't snubbed us yet, and Gudjohnsen I've not even heard anything about. He's brought Vassell in through his connections, and like it or not he's still a decent draw for a club like us. He's getting better every game. I would wait and see what he does in the next 3.5 weeks before saying he can't draw anyone, as he's not really had much of a chance up to this point.

Why would we want to make up a rumour about a player we aren't after and then discuss it. We are after a name as that's what the owners want, might take time but one will appear at some point. I doubt people thought we'd get Davies as he was viewed as out of our reach by most. We've already got bamba in who's not a big name, so I'm sure we aren't just looking at players like that.

Bamba looked impressive against Man City, but time will show if he can produce steady defensive displays. Yakubu in on loan, hopefully Davies returns on loan, and the problem is that if players under contract leaves, we must rebuild our team next season again and it will be no momentum, without proper signigs that will stay at the club for more than 6 months. Not the way forward, and not something to build long term on. Sven gambles here and hopefully we can be "lucky". Sad to see a player like Wellens leave, would be terrible

Don't want him to return to City, very short sighted guy imo. he had a good opportunity at City, but he thought Prem. clubs would be queuing up for him. His lack of commitment to City was plain to see towards the end of his loan period. Good riddance, welcome Samba!
