Man City 4 - 2 Leicester - Post Match Thread

Thracian. My word. If we, for a moment stop trying to use the most clichés in a write up ever, let's realise where we are. 6-4 down, over 2 ties, against the 2nd best team in England and the richest club in the world. Perspective.

To be honest, I often agree with your write ups, you're thorough, concise and usually accurate. This time I think you've completely miscalculated. Spend less time thinking up BLANK and more time focusing on what we're capable of.

I'm one to moan at unnecessary goals conceded but there comes a point where I accept luck doesn't just happen. There were elements of class in all of City's goals and I've suggested what could of been done about them. I am not though, going to berate players who are playing for our team in our position in our league for losing by 2 goals over 2 matches against one of the 'best sides in the world'. I'm just not.

I'm all for analysis but I think you've been cynical and unfair. If we performed like you think we should have we'd be pushing for a champions league place, not a play off place.

Tony - less repetitions, more info. Your "McCavity" thing is getting boring.

Thank you.

For once acknowledge the fact that we lost out to a far superior team.

Yes, I wasn't convinced by our defensive display either, but to put it in the same category as the first few games of the season under Sousa is an insult to our back four.

Yes, the FA Cup can produce surprise results and it would've been nice to go to Notts County.

But Manchester City have too much quality in them, almost every single position is filled out by a classy player.

Each one of their midfielders and strikers looked like they could decide the outcome of the game at any given point.

That team doesn't cost that much for no reason.

With the (comparatively) limited resources that we have, we've done well over the course of those two legs.

Here's to a playoff push.

Also, was very intoxicated when replying to this. My bad if I got a bit carried away :P General opinion still stands though.

I do think Thracian's spot on, though, when he refers to nullifying Tevez's threat. After the first game (maybe even before it) we should have recognised him as the biggest danger and had a plan in place. For example, Yuki could have been tasked to hound him closely throughout the game. It's surprising that someone of Sven's calibre and experience didn't sort that.

On a side note from the football.

I own this flag

When I got to the turnstile at Eastlands on Tuesday, the steward asked to look in my bag with the flag in, when he saw the flag he said I had to get it vetted for entry by the head steward.

So off I trott to see Mr Head Steward who asked me to remove the flag and lay it on the floor, he the proceeded to make me explain what every bit of the writing on the flag meant to makesure it was suitable for the ground!

He then got on his walkietalkie to some woman in an office somewhere and explained to her what was on the flag and if it was 'permitted to entry into the ground' she replied saying Leicesters nickname is The Foxes so the Foxes head is permitted to be on the flag!

After making my way into the ground I asked a steward where I could put my flag up and they said no room in the lower tier!

Overall it was a complete and utter farce!

My OH was sat in the man city end (being a manc) and he said our version of the Poznan after we scored looked effing top, and more effective than the home fans since the whole of (at least) the bottom tier were doing it at once! didnt show it on the highlights tho did they!

also we got great kudos for singing louder than the city fans. I have 2 points tho as an un-regular away attendee-

1) why dont we sing 'when you're smiling'? i thought this was our song? i realise the soft cock-rock version may have tainted it slightly but i was totally expecting to hear this in full voice and was disappointed! other than this, the singing was top notch, except as has been mentioned by many others, the singing of UTD songs. FFS. even if i wanted to wind up the city fans i wouldnt go anywhere near to a utd chant. you should all wash your mouths out with soap and razor blades. utd are smug bastards and always have been. end of.

all in all it was the best f-ing game for atmophere ive been to for ages. and i enjoyed it about 100% more than OH as he is sick of the corporate state of man city and we are now going to be going to more altrincham town games for old school non-sellout footie.

result!
