MC Prussian Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Match highlights: http://www.mysoccerp...ty-vs-leicester (Still waiting for the full game to be uploaded) Observations: a) Tevez, if he can be arsed to, is world-class b) Our defense got found out by a world-class ManCity midfield c) Silva's touch to set up Johnson was sublime (the latter was not offside) d) Tevez fell a bit too easy in our box for their penalty - questions as to whether Hobbs touched him at all e) "Dyer, Knock Him Out!" f) Dyer - Offside (albeit tricky to referee) g) ESPN are shit - were the cameras ever pointing towards our end, eh?? UPDATE: Extended video highlights now also available on the Manchester City website - for free...

lcfcadam Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Honestly, what the **** was going on for their 4th?! If they'd scored straight from that break I could've accepted it - being punished from all pushing forward to try and equalise. But the whole team was back!! Some basic League 2 defending, closing down the attackers and getting a foot it, would've stopped that going in. Very frustrating.

Some basic League 2 defending, closing down the attackers and getting a foot it, would've stopped that going in. Very frustrating. They were knackered most likely! I know you should play til the final whistle, but I can't fault them for the effort they put in to the match as a whole!

That's what I said last night, originally we defended well and it looked like we'd shut them out. It was a class effort but when it could be prevented with someone closing it's always disappointing.
mcfcfan Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 ...never expected it to be anything other than a tough game, thought you were very positive, and unlucky. Fantastic support, esp liked that, 'we are the right side, we are the left side' stuff, superb! sat in the opp end so couldn't quite make out the words? and your 'poznan' looked good. Don't worry too much about our support, always the same for cup games because what other club would give it's entire 'home end' over to the visiting team? unbelievable. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
James. Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Had a great night. Never thought we'd win but to see us put in what I thought was a great performance made me proud of the team. Loved having those periods in the match just after equalising and scoring our second when you see everyone collectively thinking - "we might just do this". Always find it hard to really judge how well everyone played when I'm in amongst the atmosphere and emotions are all over the place but for me I thought Bamba looked quality however the defence as a unit clearly didn't perform well. Dyer was always involved, Moussa looked a little out of his depth while Howard clearly struggled on his own. Atmosphere wise it was great fun. Although it was pretty funny I did wish that our side of the crowd (to the left) didn't spend quite so long taking the piss out of that ginger lad. He did look a bit of a cvnt but still, get behind the team before you start rinsing some bloke in the crowd. Great day though, worth the 3am finish and above all was great to see us give a quality football team a good game of football.

Best of luck for the rest of the season. Thought City did themselves proud overall (especially over 2 legs) In the end tho Man C's quality shone through as you always thought they could up it a gear and score whenever we got close to them. With the zillions they have spent to lose by 2 goals in the end was a great achievement by a mid table CChip club in transistion. Think it shows we need that bit of quality to get us to the levels where the owners want us,but some players we have do have some real potential at this club. Hope this gives the players a taste of what they can look forward to on a weekly basis if they continue to progress as some of them have. Dont go to many away games but Citys support is brilliant(except the stupid Glory Glory MANU chant...TUT TUT!!!) Tevez is bastard World Class tho!!
Webbo Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 I could have sworn that a few weeks ago the general consensus on here was that Gallagher was a useless idle willy puller and should be dropped. How times change.
Haydos Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 People tend to get conveniently quiet when their scapegoat is playing well though don't they.
marbelladave Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 I could have sworn that a few weeks ago the general consensus on here was that Gallagher was a useless idle willy puller and should be dropped. How times change. Not everyone joined in the 'general consensus' though....

samjohnson Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Just watched the programme over as I Sky Plus'd it. I just loved it! We played so well against one of the best teams in England, and quite possibly Europe. Steve McManaman is a plank, as too is Savage. Im wondering why Savage is sucking up to Mancini so much... Is he after a new job?
Joe. Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Only just got back to Eastbourne to comment, but it was all worth it. Some disappointing lapses in concentration at the back, but overall every man gave it everything on that pitch and we gave one of the best teams in the country a run for their money. And for the record, Carlos Tevez is unreal. Best player in this country by an absolute mile.
Filbert's Friend Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Dumbass thing to say really is it not? He is a footballer not a fcuking model. Have a look at tany football ground and im sure you'll see many fans just as,if not uglier. I was being irrational through bitterness. I apologise for acting contrary to your moral and wholesome principles
lcfc_amie Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Had a great night. We played well and the atmosphere was great! I'm a very proud Leicester fan today

Simi Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Anyone know if our fans in the upper tier all stood throughout the match yesterday? i couldn't tell as i was stood at the back of the lower tier!! Yeah, certainly did. Very impressive. We were on row J in the lower and weren't too optimistic about standing but every ****er stood! Fair play and a good showing and it seems we've had a few decent comments from Man City., The only downside was some people singing pro United songs to respond to City. Very small-time but I suppose you will get that without regulars there. Thought City's support was still good and the Poznan is great when they all get doing it. Can only image what that part of the ground is like when United come down.
skyblueinpeace Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Could only hear our lot on the TV. Even when you scored you were poor. i see you point mate but at eastlands the microphone is right above the south stand in which in premierleague games its half city/half away.. but yesterday you had the whole stand so all you could hear was your fans... but our atmosphere in our main singing area was very good anyway good luck in the future
Alexikokopops Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Our very own Fez's view on the game http://europeanfootballweekends.blogspot.com/2011/01/manchester-city-v-leicester-city.html
lcfc_jme Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Our very own Fez's view on the game http://europeanfootb...ester-city.html Great read, that. "Fabregas also commented on Leicester's "impressive" start to the game and that we were taking the game to our lofty opponents. Cheers, Cesc. Always liked your work." . Good work Fezlet.
Thracian Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Can't convince myself we were ever that bothered about winning the replay - and with the task we've set ourselves in the Championship I can't say I care much. Yes I went and quite enjoyed some of the football. But I didn't see that much passion or urgency. Hobbs' tackle before the Tevez goal was more like a variation on an excuse-me quickstep than a determined attempt to stop the bloke. And, while some aftermatch comments were unnecessarily smug or impolite they could have had eight. To concede four to a largely unruffled home side and have Weale contesting man of the match said it all. Our defence had more holes than a cullinder. Yes I know Manchester City's team cost more than is decent but if banks conceded as readily as City do, we'd all be living in luxury for next to nothing. It's not just been Man City. Portsmouth, Ipswich, Watford, Norwich, Macclesfield, Palace have all shown we've got a suspect defence that's about as tight as a split condom. Our back line should have been collectively named McCavity. Cos in too many situations they just weren't there when it mattered and sometimes it seemed like our centre-backs were auditioning for that bit about he parting of the Red Sea. Or playing as if they've misheard the instruction "offside" as "offsite". http://www.google.co.uk/images?rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7ADFA_en&redir_esc=&q=parting+of+the+Red+Sea&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=Z7k4TZLvC4jAhAfDqIjhCg&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCMQsAQwAA&biw=1003&bih=567 Man City passed between us and behind us far too easily and Berner looked like he knew he'd got another year's work and didn't need to worry much any more. In attack Howard lived up to his name cos you had to wonder just How 'Ard he was finding it just to get a kick and I sure don't remember many. "The King" seemed to have abdicated for 45 minutes and although he improved second half to be cautiously competent I didn't ever get the feeling he was likely to score or or make something happen this time. But who was, apart from Dyer? Never did I expect Gallagher to be missed as much as he was. His penalty was another instance of him scoring or making a goal - a nice habit he's getting into this season - but we often looked lost when he'd gone and even when we surprised ourselves by pulling backed to 3-2 i didn't ever see us having the energy, invention or fire-power to cause a surprise and Man City soon ended any blind optimism. Weale with his penatly save, his one-on-one block, another good stop from Toure and all sorts of other goalkeeping titbits earned widespread and deserved praise but we're clearly still a work-in-progress and there'll be much more work needs doing before any significant progress will be seen. Can we still go up? The Houses of Parliament could go up but that doesn't mean it's likely. But what we can be now is focused on one thing only - the League. Trouble is other people are strengthening in the transfer window too and some of them will be a much greater temptation, with their league position, than ever we will even accepting that the Thai's could line an airport's windsock with gold, never mind a footballer's pockets. And even in getting more players it will add up to yet more upheaval. No wonder the Walkers pitch has been relaid - it's been subject to an administrative earthquake with more comings and goings this season than a Kings Cross brothel. Well, soon the "window" will be closed, thank God and, while Sven could likely populate a new Grammar School with all the players he's reputedly approached what will matter is whether we've got any sort of reliability in defence, any more goals from central midfield and anyone firing real bullets up front. Given 3/3 we'd have a sporting chance but I reckon we'll have 1/3 at best. And will seriously struggle to make the play-offs. Yes, someone will say we'll win the next 8. And soon it will be the last 10. But I think we need to steel ourselves for the reality of disappointment and prepare ourselves for the potenial excitement of next season. Assuming Sven is still around. Cos for all the millions they've spent, take Tevez out and I didn't see Man City as anything exceptional, though Silva played well.. In fact rarely have I seen a modern side so dependent on one man over two legs. But did we have anyone to mark him. An Alan Woollett figure perhaps? No - we were no closer to marking him and frustrating him at Eastlands than we were in the first game. But that's one of the things coaches need to do if we're going to win things. Identify the strengths of opponents and nullify them. Did we even try? Not as I could see.
