Sparky Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 After being casually mentioned a few times i thought its worth the debate on whether to run a Foxestalk sunday side. Ideally you would like to have a 15/16 man squad with a few others on standby if you were missing a few. I do think with this site having so many members that we would be attractive to sponsors. A committee would need to be formed consisting of Secretary (Informing opponents and Referees of fixtures and attending the leagues AGM) Tresurer (Control of the clubs finances) Chairman (Chair the clubs committee meetings) Fundraisers Ill open it up to people to discuss if its a viable option.

lcfc_jme Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 As I said in the other thread, it's definitely worth discussing and considering, and I'll be available properly from next season as I'll have finished uni and am 99% certain to be living back in Leicester. We'd actually be a formidable side if we got everyone involved, really. I know Manwell said he'd be interested from the season after next as well.
Bert Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Why not. IN. We need to persuade that lanky lad who plays for Parva, and that small lad who's great at pulling out a casual pose to sign on, as well as the other sparta boys, the small boy who's left footed to build the nucleus of the team.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 I'd be game if I wasn't: a) Heading off to uni next year b) Hideously out of my depth at 11 a side
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Sparky - you're right about the roles you need to fill and that I think will be the difficulty as for at least a few it will be more than just turning up, paying a few quid and playing a game. You'd need to find a regular pitch, people to go to regular local FA meetings, a kit, set up funds to pay for all the crap you need etc, etc, etc. Sunday football is notoriously difficult for getting players to play as well due to the 'pissed up and asleep' nature of half the team, it's nigh on impossible to avoid. Realistically you need a dedicated 8 or 9 who have a long list of possible players in their phone book that they can phone up on the off chance they fancy a game. I don't mean to piss on your bonfire, as your right it could be a good idea - I just wonder whether you'd get enough commitment from all the people you're going to need to complete a season or two or three.

Good post. Sparky is well aware of the nature of sunday league football and all its ongoings as he pretty much ran west end united for many years....
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Good post. Sparky is well aware of the nature of sunday league football and all its ongoings as he pretty much ran west end united for many years.... As I said committed till 2012/13 at least but as saud open to it and don't mind taking up a role.
Sparky Posted 20 January 2011 Author Posted 20 January 2011 Id be happy to take on a advisory role on the committee but with having a nipper now i don't think i'd have the time for the secretarys role and definatley don't fancy managing a side for a while.
m00nie Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 not sure on his current commitments but "themagician" has managed few teams in his old age and would have a little black book with players, some of whom would be on here.. will point him towards the thread and see what he says..
THE MAGICIAN Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 not sure on his current commitments but "themagician" has managed few teams in his old age and would have a little black book with players, some of whom would be on here.. will point him towards the thread and see what he says.. , Cheers Mitch. Any other time I would have been interested as I know there are some bloody good players that are on this site and seen a fair few play and reckon they ( if goes ahead ) will be a force and a very succesful team. But, i'm currently enjoying my new project which is NEW ROAD INN
General Smuts Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Id be one of those who would be at the end of a text message if a player was needed with me being so far away. Any away games you had down here id be well up for though.
Sparky Posted 20 January 2011 Author Posted 20 January 2011 Can we ask New Road for permission to speak to Malc Wonder if Thracian fancies one last hurrah ??
Maybes Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Can we ask New Road for permission to speak to Malc Wonder if Thracian fancies one last hurrah ?? Thracian as gaffer would pretty much seal the deal for me
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 January 2011 Posted 21 January 2011 Thracian as gaffer would pretty much seal the deal for me He's pretty much ruled out Sunday morning football before. It would be brilliant though
Kilworthfox Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 I'd be interested, I helped set up a club in the alliance a couple of seasons ago, probably better off the pitch than on it at the moment though
Wymsey Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 At this rate, FT will struggle to get a team together
Sparky Posted 26 January 2011 Author Posted 26 January 2011 At this rate, FT will struggle to get a team together Thats why it was put up for debate, if not enough interest then the matter won't go any furthur.
Uncle Albert Posted 15 February 2011 Posted 15 February 2011 would be a great idea but cant see the Charnwood Sunday lads leaving their teams, I dont think I would.
Simo86 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 would be a great idea but cant see the Charnwood Sunday lads leaving their teams, I dont think I would. I'd have to agree with this, if anything happened to my current side i'd consider it, which would probably be the same for a few on here
????? Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 I could help out with this I set up friar lane in the Alliance League this year, and were folding at the end off te season, but if the commitment is there i will be happy to help again.
