Van Aanholt Joins Foxes On Loan

Leicester City has today announced the signing of Chelsea left-back, Patrick Van Aanholt, on loan for the remainder of the season, subject to Football League approval.

The 20-year-old full-back, who passed a medical earlier today at the Belvoir Drive Training Ground, goes straight in to Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad for the away trip to Sheffield United in the npower Championship, on Tuesday February 1st.

Van Aanholt, who joined Chelsea as a youngster from PSV Eindhoven in 2007, has represented the Netherlands at under-19 and under-21 level. He enjoyed loan spells at Coventry City and Newcastle United, providing prior experience at this level.

The left-back scored for Chelsea, ironically against Newcastle United, who he had previously been loaned to and is highly thought of at Stamford Bridge due to his good technical ability, pace and his willingness to get forward and support the midfield and attack.

Leicester City Assistant Manager, Derek Fazackerley, said: "Patrick is another quality addition to our squad. He is a talented young footballer, with good skill, natural pace and the required hunger and desire to do well in the game.

"Although Ben Mee can play at left-back, Bruno Berner is our only specialist player in that position, so this was an area we needed to add to.

"Patrick has impressed at Chelsea, Coventry City and Newcastle United and we are certain he will do likewise here at the Walkers Stadium."

When Stringer categorically confirms it it's pretty much nailed on you would imagine. Even though it's his personal Twitter account, he's got the reputation of the BBC to worry about as well as himself.

hasn't worked out for Davies yet though.
