Finnegan Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales kick off the Home Nations tournament with two games this week. The Republic of Ireland play Wales tomorrow night with Scotland and Northern Ireland lining up on Wednesday. Wales take an immensely depleted squad with no Bale, Bellamy or Ramsey although this may give our very own Andy King a very good chance of playing, given that David Edwards and Jack Collison are also ruled out.
Bert Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Don't know who I want to win this. I can certainly rule out the jocks though.
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2011 Author Posted 7 February 2011 The Republic to win it i reckon, Scotland 2nd Scotland are a complete mess, I can't believe I'm saying this but I think Northern Ireland will probably do better than both the Scots and us. I think if we could put a full strength eleven out we'd very much be a force to be reckoned with but the way things are going I can't see us doing much but the wooden spoon.
StanSP Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Republic of Ireland Scotland Wales Northern Ireland
Guest Bilo Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 I'm going for the following. 1. Republic of Ireland Some quality in that side and great fighting spirit. Home advantage could be a huge factor. 2. Wales Improving outfit and if Gareth Bale can take his form into this, they'll be a force to be reckoned with. 3. Scotland Poor form and negative tactics but just enough to avoid the Wooden Spoon. 4. Northern Ireland A smattering of decent players with Evans and McCourt in the side but probably not enough.
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2011 Author Posted 7 February 2011 Heart says: Republic Wales Scotland NI. Head says: Republic NI Wales Scotland
FoxyPV Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Good to see you're getting your excuses in early Sos.
Stevosevic Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Would like to see Wales win purely because of King.
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2011 Author Posted 7 February 2011 Good to see you're getting your excuses in early Sos. Hardly excuses really is it? We've a very lopsided team, Bale, Ramsey and Bellamy are arguably three of the best players in the entire competition. In fact, Bale is the best player in the competition. But short of those three we clearly have a weaker squad than Ireland and none of them are playing.
lcfc"weasel" Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Hope Scotland win it, can't see it though.
Sparky Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Shame the Faroe islands turned the invitation down as they would probably have pissed it.
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2011 Author Posted 7 February 2011 Shame the Faroe islands turned the invitation down as they would probably have pissed it. Yeah yeah. Least we managed to keep a clean sheet against the Germans.
Stevosevic Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 King is starting tomorrow night, i will watch with interest. http://www.teamtalk.com/match/preview/978/6737118/Speed-reveals-Wales-starting-XI Wales team: Hennessey, Eardley, D Collins, J Collins, Ricketts, Crofts, King, Vaughan, Church, Earnshaw, Robson-Kanu.
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2011 Author Posted 7 February 2011 Is that website reliable? Seems a bit odd for a football side to announce their starting line up twenty four hours in advance and there's nothing on the BBC. Interesting if it's true, mind, it's a pretty attackign line up. But, ugh, Crofts? Edit: Sorry, it's on the BBC now.

Bert Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Yeah yeah. Least we managed to keep a clean sheet against the Germans. At least we managed to get to the second round of the World Cup. At least we qualified for the world cup.
The Doctor Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Oh and LargeAl? Pah, we don't have burley in charge any more, levien may be shit and negative but burley is the only manager who comes close to being as bad as vogts was. We won't necessarily win but I can almost guarantee we won't be humiliated like that again. Looking forward to this, N.I. is probably the best start for us as well.
Simmo86 Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Thought the crowd would be a bit better for the Ireland Wales game!
FoxyPV Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 I heard the tickets were around 70euro. Oooooh Duff hits the post
Finnegan Posted 8 February 2011 Author Posted 8 February 2011 Imagine the cost of the stadium has hiked the prices up, shame. They should have done the reverse and made a spectacle out of it, really. Cracking stadium. Shame really.
