Matt Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Vichai Raksriaksorn officially takes over as Chairman. http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2290380,00.html Leicester City has today named Vichai Raksriaksorn as the club's new Chairman. The position, which has been vacant since the departure of previous owner and Chairman, Milan Mandaric in November, will now be held by Raksriaksorn, the father of Aiyawatt, who is now named as the club's Vice-Chairman. Speaking exclusively to LCFC.COM, Vichai Raksriaksorn said: "I am both delighted and honoured to be named as Chairman of Leicester City Football Club. "Leicester City is a proud club, with a rich heritage. We now have a clear strategy for the club and the foundations for future success have been set. Raksriaksorn added: "The primary reason for investing in Leicester City was not only because of my passion for football, but also my strong desire to revive and return the club to the Premier League. Leicester City has a history of playing Premier League football and it is time for a new chapter to be created. "From the very first moment that I stepped in to the Walkers Stadium last August, there was absolutely no hesitation in my mind, even for a split second, to prevent me from looking forward and investing in this team. I truly believe in the spirit of Leicester City and hold great hope of success for the near future. "I have made a solid commitment to sacrifice more than half of my time from my main business of duty free, to dedicate time to Leicester City, giving as much support as I can. Financially, we have also invested more than was first anticipated. Ultimately, this will yield substantial improvements in the working structure of the club, both on and off the field, some of which we have already seen as the core competitive aspects of the team have been strengthened in all areas. "What I am committing myself to might seem impossible to achieve from the perspective of others, but this dream began when we acquired Sven-Goran Eriksson as manager and signed players from the Premier League. I am proud to say that we already have seven international football players with us, which is a fantastic achievement, with more to come I hope. "To conclude, I look forward to working alongside the staff, players and management, as well as helping to progress the relationship with our fantastic supporters and the surrounding community." Leicester City Vice-Chairman, Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, said: "Both my father and I are working very hard to restore Leicester City as a formidable force in English football and return the club to the Premier League. "I feel certain that the new structure of the club emphasises the strength of Leicester City and will ultimately help to take the club forward." Leicester City Chief Executive, Lee Hoos, said: "This is another positive step which will further strengthen the club and our commitment to excellence. "Vichai and Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn have taken a more active and engaged role in Leicester City Football Club and this integrated approach will enhance the continued development of the club off the field, supplementing the recent good form shown by Sven-Goran Eriksson and his team." Vichai Raksriaksorn joined the club's board on Monday December 6th 2010, at the same time as Miss Supornthip Choungrangsee and Miss Susan Whelan.

The Padster Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Stop being so worried, it does also say "Ultimately, this will yield substantial improvements in the working structure of the club, both on and off the field, some of which we have already seen as the core competitive aspects of the team have been strengthened in all areas". They are businessmen/women, they know what their doing. As the great Arnold Swarzenegger once said "Relax, you'll live longer".
Wymsey Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Maybe a good move, but the judgement will be based on what he does from now on............

They are businessmen/women, they know what their doing. As the great Arnold Swarzenegger once said "Relax, you'll live longer". When he says this overspend "will yield substantial improvements, like it already has done to the core competitive aspects of the team which has been strengthened in all areas" it makes me wonder if he realises that more than half of them (Naughton, Mee, PVA, Yakubu & maybe Bruma.... along with Vitor) will be off after our final game and he'll have to dig deeper than they have this season to not only replace them, but also to improve further... that realisation will go one of two ways: They continue to overspend to attract the class of premier league players that Sven's capable of attracting, or they look to redress their business plan and bring the total spending back in to line by underspending to balance the budget. They're businessmen, they know what they're doing and they'll know that its a fine line between speculating to accumulate and pissing your money up the wall. Still, whilst Sven's at the helm I can't see anything other than sniffing around Premier league clubs for their talent and that obviously costs as his statement proves. It's going to be exciting that's for sure.
City Lad Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 The two quotes are exactly that, two different quotes. It seems Stringer is stirring things, even if this time he doesn't know it. It must come naturally to him.
Wymsey Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 I see lots of negativity on here regarding the Chairmen's 'more than he wanted' investment

But speculating a rough 10 mil this year (basing that on our supposed transfer budget inc wages etc) and the same for next season if we don't go up, maybe a little more say 12-15 mil, stands to accumulate a potential 90 million. So even spunking away 15-20 million we could land a windfall of 5 times that upon promotion. They're businessmen, they know what there doing. The two quotes are exactly that, two different quotes. It seems Stringer is stirring things, even if this time he doesn't know it. It must come naturally to him. Agreed, Stringer hasn't helped anything by trying to stir the pot.
haraven Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Relax. I think it was an allround nice introduction speech, and they have by just getting Sven signalled they mean business. Stop being vultures of bad news, some of you circle around the club looking for any tidbit that might be turned into negativity just for the heck of it. The "Enjoyment of moaning" has to stop - we're all engines go for Premiership with the greatest footballing manager we've had in years. Even his stupid Swenglish accent is fantastic - enjoy it while you can. One more thing - a board member named Miss Supornthip Choungrangsee is fooking fantastic. I hope she looks as good as it sounds

Manchester United, step aside --- Here comes Leicester City.

Linked with above, people always look to find the negative points of what someone says!
nickelbyfox Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Its not like they are going to come out and say, oh this is a breeze haven't had to spend nearly as much as we thought. I think they are most likely cooling expectations seeing as we are linked to almost everyone in world football, and everyone thinks we have tons of cash to throw around. Bit of sensationalism by Stringer, maybe we should chase him with pitch forks!
The Padster Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 I hope she looks as good as it sounds Is this our new director? Is Top tupping it? If that's your cup of tea, personally asian chicks don't do it for me.

haraven Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 If that's your cup of tea, personally asian chicks don't do it for me. Tea or coffee, it's an quantum leap improvement from Lee Hoos and Mandy in at least one way.
hackneyfox Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 No need for the Stringer bashing, he's just tweeted you the 2 important facts. I read into it that Milan ripped them for more than they expected. Either to him or he hid facts about the club from them. No surprise
Fox You Forest Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 I read into it that Milan ripped them for more than they expected. Either to him or he hid facts about the club from them. Ha, Milan painting a pretty picture was my first thought too.

I wonder whether someone who has amassed a few hundred million Pounds by running successful businesses realises that he has loaned and not bought some assets ..... Crikey I'm worried too now!!!!!
