Manwell Pablo Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Hovering precariously around the run rate every over to keep themselves in it doesn't change the fact they need one big big over.
StanSP Posted 22 February 2011 Author Posted 22 February 2011 Yep and powerplay is over now. 35 off 27 balls now
Brainy Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 If you dont think England can make 52 from 49 with 6 wickets in hand against an average bowling line up on a good pitch then you dont know much about cricket. However if they do fail then then its against the odds.
StanSP Posted 22 February 2011 Author Posted 22 February 2011 Don't know much about cricket . Given the two sides who are playing, a Netherlands win was always going to be against the odds. But the way the match has panned out, and England's inability to get above the run rate of 7 per over until very late on in the match, Netherlands looked like they would win. I bet you thought it would just be plain-sailing for England and an easy win. Anyway, 19 needed off 16 balls.

Anyway just hit 10 off last over which was needed badly.
Brainy Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Just takes one six to change it. Too often now you do see one player finish it off with consecutive boundaries with 2/3 overs in hand. Seem to remember England needing 16 from 12 against Pakistan last winter and Morgan hit 6,6,4 at the start of the penultimate over. This current over is similar
StanSP Posted 22 February 2011 Author Posted 22 February 2011 Looks like they'll come through but they left it late and Netherlands did very well in batting and some parts of the bowling. Seems like they didn't have enough in the tank to keep the pressure on though, as up til around 41/42 overs, they had England under a lot of pressure. Collingwood and Bopara have saved England here with their big-hitting just now.

We had 8 balls left that was far farto close, if your telling me when the RR was 8.25 you were still completley confident I don't believe you!
Brainy Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 I bet you thought it would just be plain-sailing for England and an easy win. Touchy. The Netherlands are the best associate side, got 2 or 3 quality players. You're coming across as if you knew it would be a close game. One player in orange and a below average England fielding performance made sure they set a competitive target. I didnt expect it to be this close but wasn't expecting us to bowl them out for less than 100.

We had 8 balls left that was far farto close, if your telling me when the RR was 8.25 you were still completley confident I don't believe you! RR isn't really what I look at. When you look at a RR at 8.25 it looks quite high but today we had plenty of wickets in hand and were playing against an average bowling attack. RR was at 8.25 yet the runs to balls left ratio was still at something like 28 from 24. All it takes is a handful of boundaries to make up for any possible dot balls and just keep trying get some singles. 8.25 would be pretty concerning during the middle overs but no so much with a few overs left
Corky Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 It wouldn't be England if it was a comfortable victory
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 I fancy the dutch to win tonight or at least be very competitive. Hope my man Ten deschote is playing Batted brilliantly and i thought he was there best bowler Great performance by the dutch
FoxyPV Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Batted brilliantly and i thought he was there best bowler Great performance by the dutch Rudders all round in the changing room after then
StanSP Posted 23 February 2011 Author Posted 23 February 2011 Pakistan annihilated Kenya today. Kenya didn't help themselves though, helping Pakistan to 317 by bowling 37 wide balls. Kenya had no chance really after that. Easy win.
Corky Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 I don't think Kenya will win this cup. Their bowlers' Scott Boswell impression was good.
StanSP Posted 24 February 2011 Author Posted 24 February 2011 West Indies 222 all out after 47.3 overs. South Africa currently 61-2 off 12 overs. They only need about 4.5 an over so there's no rush to get the total! Should be pretty straight-forward for them.
Corky Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Good of Kallis to accept the fielder's word that it was a clean catch.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Foxy PV you may be in luck Ireland bowling very well after a poor start 6-161 they've got the Bangies after 35 overs. Pitch is attrosious but you got fancy your chances
Fosse Boy Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 This is looking winnable for Oireland with the middle order they have.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Ireland may have unearthed a very good young spinner today only 18 and got 2-23 off 10.
