Leicester vs Norwich - 8th March 2011

Leicester's last 3 games has put a big dent into their play-off hopes of reaching the Premier League this year.

My attention goes to next game against Norwich, if Leicester do not get a win I reckon play-offs hope may end!

6 homes games left against Norwich, Portsmouth, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Watford and Ipswich - Leicester I reckon will need 13-16 points from the remaining home games.

5 away games left against Scunthorpe, Middlesbrough, Reading, Nottingham Forest and Doncaster - Leicester I reckon will need 10-12 from the remaining away games.

11 games= 13+10= 23 points

TOTAL POINTS= Leicester's current points (52 points) + 11 games (23 points) = 75 points at the end of the season may be enough.

AM KEEPING HOPE AND I HOPE ALL THE BLUE ARMY ARE RIGHT BEHIND LEICESTER!

COME ON YOU FOXES!

What's your opinions people?

i think we should stop over-analysising our remaining fixtures and just be happy being in the position we are after the start to the season we made and, last season aside, our recent championship campaigns.

As I mentioned in another thread, this game is now a cup final in my opinion. Defeat will destroy our confidence and, I think, end our promotion hopes for this season. I agree we have to be reasonably happy with things in terms of league position though, at least we won't be fighting a relegation battle!!!

totally agree, if you go back a few months the general feeling on this forum was us worrying about relagation now its that we will be annoyed if we dont make the playoffs and get promoted! we should go into every game with total confidence (fans included) and play our own game and dont worry about other teams around us! if we make the play offs we do! If not we build over the summer and go for it next season! Sven and the owners have been a breath of fresh air since they came in and we should get behind them rather that booing svens selctions and tatics!

Lets enjoy the rest of the season let sven and his staff do the worrying and support the team through thick and thin!

Tbh i am just happy we have a chance of promotion after our great start! The good news about our recent run in last 3 games is that teams have been slipping above us.as we have been slippping...(forest,norwich and leeds) so we have still got a chance, however now burnley are in driving seat with two games in hand!

Here here, I'm glad Sven has turned if around however I feel this will financially cripple the owners, they will loose a fair bit of cash! Will they be willing to invest again next year? For me we had our chance to pull away and we havn't taken it, I feel the play offs is now over! I'd we get there then we have acheived the impossible! I hope the boys prove me wrong

Apart from Norwich and Forest, you look at these fixtures as a 'should win' game. However, predicting the results is impossible. You'd of thought Cov was a simple win...

I'm coming to this game with a backseat full of the of the enemy!! Work colleagues who support the canaries. If we lose I might just drive home without them. :D If we win I think I'll go the long way home.

Massive, massive game!

your probably about right - 75 points is usually enough to get in the play-offs

I think we can win all these matches on paper but paper never won a football match :chant:

I've said for a while that we have a real hard run in, and it will end up costing us.

It hasnt helped that we have dropped points like vs Cov, but I cant see us picking any wins up against Norwich, Burnley, Forest, Reading, and one of Portsmouth/Ipswich.

Blimey and i thought i was pessemistic  seriously though come on City you can beat the lot or at least stay unbeaten until the end of the season - please

Just put this on another thread but hopefully it will cheer some people up in this one!

Thinking about it, last season with 12 games to go we ended up winning 7, drawing 1 and losing 4 ending up with 76 points. I see no reason why we cannot repeat that. We can afford to lose 3 more games this season and the good thing is we probably won't! So the QPR game counts as 1 loss so basically if we win 7, draw 1 and lose 3 of our next 11 games we should be there or thereabouts!

The 7 wins coming from: Burnley (H), Boro (A), Palace(H) , Pompey(H), Ipswich (H), Watford(H), Donny (A)

1 draw against Norwich (H)

3 losses from Scunny (A), Forest (A), Reading (A)

I see that as quite realistic, winning 5 home games out of the remaining 6 and losing 3 of the 5 away games, can still gives us 76 points!

Anybody else agree?

We should expect to beat anyone at home IMO. Anything less is dissapointing.

Norwich is huge. Make or Break.

yep agree that we should beat teams at home, thing is we seem to have a soft underbelly at times, id actually like to see us close out a few teams (sometimes) to show we can grind results out aswell. Norwich at home definately is season defining

Nothing is granted in this league, hell we could go on and not lose again this season or we could end up not winning again either! Lets just hope we can get some luck again as we ain't playing poorly, indifferent at times but not flat out poor and the good thing is? we are creating chances...

Worry if the chances totally dry up and we play very poor, basically? lets see where we are in 4 games time because in my opinion that will probably be the cut off in terms in where we will be/possibly finish

Posted

That amount of points should be enough, but can we get there? My worry is now that the first few games of the year our results were maybe better than we were. We've now lost to Cardiff and QPR who granted are above us, but if we really think we should go up this year then maybe we should get something off them. Norwich would be a great win. If we don't win it's not over, but a win puts us right back in there with 3 of our hardest remaining fixtures out the way. win or lose it's not over until it's mathematically impossible, but a loss would make it extremely difficult.

I have decided to step back from the "need to gain promotion this season" mind set as it was seriously stressing me out! Now I accept that its a massive ask for us to get into the top 6 and hopefully I can just enjoy the rest of the season supporting an amazing football team that has rise like a phoenix from the ashes that was our awful start to the season. If we don't go up this year then Sven will equip us over the summer to absolutely annihilate every team in this league, becoming champions next season!

And let's face it, if we don't make it this season next season is sure to be an exciting season ! If we're good enough this year then great, if not then Sven has a summer to add to an already very good team. I'm happy either way with what he has done to us since he took over. Play offs are still a nice hope, but either way i'm extremely proud of them team, fans and manager for the job they have done this season bearing in mind the terrible start we've had. And we can see how bad it really was and how far we've come if we look at a table of where we are since Sven took over (anyone have the exact figures?)

I find it hilarious that all the tossers and gloom merchants on here chime up now we've suffered a few poor results and poke fun because we now 'realise it was never ever going to happen'.

At the time it was exciting, now perhaps we're classed as outsiders. I'm still hopeful but I'm not going to spiral into depression if we don't go up. We've come a long way this season and I'm chuffed we're in the position we are. I'm sure they'll all be back out in force next year telling us the very same thing. I pity you all.

Hang on - I never said it WASN'T going to happen, just a long shot - I was stressing myself out constantly looking at other teams results and working out points required etc so have told myself to chill out and just enjoy the ride. If it happens - AMAZING, if not then it's not the end of the world.

I think he was mostly agreeing with you.
