Apparently you had to get travel with the club or else you weren't able to go to the away game. Sounds ridiculous if true.

Not true at all. They had to keep a certain amount of tickets to give to fans who had travelled independently. They were in the stand opposite and from my understanding paid Athletico less than the fans who travelled with the club. And they didn't have the repression that the people travelling by coach had. As I have said NEVER, EVER go by coach laid on by Leicester.

Is there no full length English videos about? I want to watch the whole game. Speaking of which I'd love to download the Worthington Cup final too. I'm probably asking too much though.

Someone on here posted it a while ago. Should be able to find it with a search I reckon.

Barrie Pierpoint, the chief executive of the time, promised that fans going by coach would have several hours of drinking sightseeing time in Madrid.

Unfortunately he omitted to clear this with Spanish plod, who took fright at the idea of thousands of Foxes roaming around the city. So the convoy was delayed on its journey through Spain, and then detained once it moved off the motorway.

Once the coaches arrived at the ground, fans were herded straight into the stadium. though it was only an hour before kickoff and we couldn't have gone far anyway.

When we eventually returned to Leicester there was understandably a massive public uproar. Pierpoint eventually offered compensation in the form of...a £30 voucher for use in Fox Leisure stores.

Is it any wonder that neither MON nor the fans got on with him?

I was one of the lucky ones who didn't go on the bus.

My mate in Madrid got us some tickets. Flew over, had a great time in Madrid, pub full of City fans.Got in the ground, next to the away section and asked the plod if we could go through, they said yep, no probs.

The return leg atmosphere was great until the idiot ref sent off Parker for taking a free kick too quickly. The noise died away to almost silence as we were so gobsmacked.

I was 4 at the time so obviosuly have no recollection of any of it. Apparently Izzet got hacked down in the area but nothing was given.. idk

To be the age I am now during that era.

The celebrations for Marshall's goal must have been ludicrous.

Re: Gary Parker's sending off.

When Fabregas got sent off for shooting after the whistle went for his offside and all the commentators were saying, "I've never seen anything like it." Made me mad; I immediately thought of Gary Parker. Call themselves commentators or football pundits, they know nothing about football outside of the top half of the Premiership.

lol

There's a slight difference between knowing nothing about football outside the top half of the Premiership and remembering an incident from the second leg of the first round of the UEFA Cup over 13 years ago lol

Two matches I will never forget. First on beamback at Filbert Street and second had a fantastic atmosphere, sendings off, unawarded penaltys, crap ref, singing all the way through etc etc.

We were properly done over in both draws in 1997 and 2000, Atletico Madrid and Red Star Belgrade.

Welcome to Europe!

Not my links, but I have downloaded the match with them, so they're trustworthy before anyones anti-virus has a seizure.

I have the second leg in Spanish on DVD, bought it sometime last year. Don't have the time to rip, convert and upload though, so you'll have to use your imagination and Youtube.

PS: Use VLC to play this (anyone who doesn't use VLC needs to get with the times, to be honest  ) and switch the aspect ratio to 16:9, it'll come out as 4:3 aspect ratio, but it's the original one you want, and not the squashy one you get when you first play it.

The best away game ever!

Flew over the day before the game and spent 2 nights there.

Purchased tickets from the ground and when we turned up they just shepherded straight in with everyone else.

Only pisser was that I booked flights for 6 of us, and they could only 2 lots of 3, with 3 people getting 3 nights there and the others 2 nights. For some reason she put me in in for the 2 nights.

To make it worse the other 3 flew back 2 hours before us, so went earlier to the airport where they bumped into MON and the team, 30 minutes of chatting and numerous photos with every player.

2 european games and we go to Madrid and Vienna, you don't get much luckier than that.

Love how passionate O'Neill is in that video, particularly after one of the non-penalties & in his post-match interview.

Some of those decisions were absolutely ridiculous though. 3 strong penalty shouts that I saw at least.

Ludicrous is about right Bilo, me and my brother flew over with an independent travel agent, two nights in Madrid, best away trip ever and we lost ! My most vivid memory is a sense of utter disbelief when Marshall scored, I never ever thought I would see us take the lead away in Europe, I can't really find the words to describe the scenes in the away end, it was all a bit mental and I ended up on the floor in the next row.......one day we'll be there again fingers crossed!!
