The Sven Revolution Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 OK, so after the defeat to Norwich there were many people on here who went on about how Sven isn't doing a par job, he has had money to spend but he is not delivering blah blah.. So where are you folks now? Lets be consistent in our views..I'm saying we have a good chance to sneak into the play-offs this season..but even if we don't score another goal this season (we know that's not going to happen but just proving a point) I want Sven at the helm of the 10-15 million pounds that King Power will put in irrespective of what division we are in! I don't think there is a better man around to take us to the PL! Does anyone want Sven out...this summer..I'll be bemused if even one of us says..yes to that!
MikeyT Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 We could have Mourinho or Ferguson in charge and there'd still be moaners.
Alex Black Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 I worry that if we dont receive promotion this season will Sven wany to stay?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 I worry that if we dont receive promotion this season will Sven wany to stay? 2 year contract and he said he would stay regardless, but just have to wait and see. I wouldnt be gutted if he did go, we need stability though and for all his faults there are a lot worse managers.
Alex Black Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 Do you think O'Neill would ever consider a return?

I wouldnt be gutted if he did go, we need stability though and for all his faults there are a lot worse managers. I'm 99% sure he will stay even if we don't go up this season..the only way he will go is if he sees that the owners aren't as willing to back him (financially and otherwise) and then if a mid-table PL or biggish continental club comes with a hefty contract then we could go down the route of 'by mutual consent'..I think its extremely unlikely..the most likely scenario is we will spend big in the summer and get into automatic promotion spots next season..but hey..playoffs this season isn't out of the question yet eh!! What I would like is for the owners to come out and back him and say 'we will give all the support to Sven in the summer..irrespective of what happens this season".. Do you think O'Neill would ever consider a return? Would you sack Sven to get O'neil back?
The Sven Revolution Posted 13 March 2011 Author Posted 13 March 2011 I didn't see anyone saying that... You should have seen the 'post Norwich' reaction on here!
The Sven Revolution Posted 13 March 2011 Author Posted 13 March 2011 We could have Mourinho or Ferguson in charge and there'd still be moaners. Yes, I mean we have a manager here who is consistently ranked among the top 6-7 managers worldwide and considered among footballs elite..we got to back this man..else like you said who else do have want..Mourinho and Ferguson aren't coming are they!
Alex Black Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 Hell no! That swede and his team are gold! His little black book of contacts is so valuable to this club. I mean how many of our managers over the past ten years have called David Beckham and said "fancy playing for the foxes?"
acooling08 Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 I'd take O'Neil if there was a guarantee of similar success to what we used to have under him. But Sven is a great manager, great man, and more than adequate for the club at this time.

But its an interesting thought..would someone want to sack Sven right now if O'Neil wanted to come...I wouldn't..Sven is our manager and in Sven we Trust!
ithuriel Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 He signed a two year contract and everyone knew when he came here that to get promoted this season would be extremely hard from the position we we're in. I think he would only leave if the owners decided he was not doing the job but i can not see them letting him go either. I do think he will do a bit of rebuilding in the summer, not massively but a clear out of the deadwood and a few fresh faces.
Cat Burger Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 Clarence Seedorf said in Fourfourtwo this month that Sven has had the most impact on him in his career, the anecdote he uses to describe adapting to life in another country is very wise. For me, any fan who even goes so far as to question whether or not Sven is up to this job, is an utter, utter cretin. Sven > O'Neill for me.

Yeah, your knee jerk reaction after one win is so much more credible than theirs. Why can't anyone go for one game without declaring that we definitely won't make the playoffs or we definitely will. Good chance? Not really. Slim hope? Maybe.

m00nie Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 Yeah, your knee jerk reaction after one win is so much more credible than theirs. Why can't anyone go for one game without declaring that we definitely won't make the playoffs or we definitely will. Good chance? Not really. Slim hope? Maybe. how is it knee jerk when hes saying hes consistenly said we could?? hes not now saying we could just because they won yesterday..
The Sven Revolution Posted 13 March 2011 Author Posted 13 March 2011 how is it knee jerk when hes saying hes consistenly said we could?? hes not now saying we could just because they won yesterday.. Yeah exactly, lets not get lost in semantics.. all I'm saying is play offs or not (I'm still saying we are in with a chance this season..good chance slim chance watever..there is a CHANCE!)I want Sven (over anyone else) to rebuild and get us up next season! Thats it!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 Yeah exactly, lets not get lost in semantics.. all I'm saying is play offs or not (I'm still saying we are in with a chance this season..good chance slim chance watever..there is a CHANCE!)I want Sven (over anyone else) to rebuild and get us up next season! Thats it!! As a coach and a tactician I think Sven is lacking - always have and always will. However, what Sven does have is enough clout in the game to attract decent players to the club - Naughton, Cunnigham, Mee are case in points. However, he's also brought in some dross - exactly how shite was Bender, for example, and I dont yet rate PVA The thing that worries me about Sven is his need to go for instant success - with the exception of King, there is no indication that he will consider bringing through some of the better youth players... see Thracian for good accounts on this. Tom Parkes, Ash Chambers, Jorrin John etc... I reckon will have no chance under the Sven revolution. I am dissapointed to see Hobbs loaned out and Morrison sold - both excellent under Pearson The signing of Yakubu illustrates this - massively paid compared to the other players in the squad when we have Schlupp on the bench and itching to get a start. Finally, I wouldnt be at all surprised if Sven moves in the summer, with clubs like Blackburn? sniffing after him I'd like to see a Grayson, a Lambert, an Owen Coyle.... younger managers with a point to prove who seem very adept at assembling a good young squad for the long-term. Before you all get on your high horse..I'm not Sven bashing, but would prefer an alternative
Wymsey Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 He said he was taking us to the PL this season. Failed his target tbh.
Haydos Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 how is it knee jerk when hes saying hes consistenly said we could?? hes not now saying we could just because they won yesterday.. Reading back it was a lot more unpleasant than it was meant to sound, apologies. I'm not going to be looking through old posts to be honest but after some bad results, to come and start hyping up promotion again....it just gets a bit repetitive and there's a 'good chance' this isn't going to happen. I'm not trying to sound like a tosser I swear It's just that because literally every game is massive now it makes it more important to keep our feet on the ground. 2 more shit performances and we can completely write it off. C'mon, one game at a time

shailen Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Look at the way our team had been performing pre sousa and since sven has been here. Pre sousa we were awful...the management had to take the blame for this...clearly there was a fitness issue. But since sven has come in we have looked fitter, defensively better and also a real lethal attacking force. Okay sven has got it wrong aswell, millwall away and norwich home in particular, but we cant expect the man to win all his games and get everything right. We were an average championship team when sven took over but now we are a very good championship team and its all down to sven. Please dont say he hasnt done well....if we were in a relegation battle then fair enough.....but we are in a bloody promotion battle!

Agreed all managers have their strengths and weaknesses..even Mourinho has his bashers..with his 'star studded' Real 7 points behind Barca..but really if you prefer Sven sacked in the summer as you suggested I'm amazed! You are right he will have the likes of Blackburn, Aston Villa and Fulham after him apart from European clubs but we will be the bigger loser here...give him a proper full season..
