seenitall Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Perhaps everyone should just not post for a few hours after a defeat (or indeed a victory) to allow for the extremes to dissipate a little - it will all seem so much better in a couple of days and we can get excited again - Sven is good but he has had to cobble this team together with no time or money and he is prone to making the odd mistake - its like reading the ramblings of schizophrenics on here - fun though

Haydos Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 I love you. Good one. Why didn't you sprout your drivel when we were winning? Seriously?
Haydos Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 I was on holiday. Backpacking. Colombia. Convenient.
seenitall Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 No time or money!!! What? Relatively - 6 months and a couple of million - hardly Mancini's world is it?

Guest Col city fan Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Relatively - 6 months and a couple of million - hardly Mancini's world is it? In the world of the championship it's bloody good money... Who else is spending 30k per week on yakubu? Apart from Cardiff on Bellamy?

Apart from Cardiff on Bellamy? how do you know how much is on, you said it was 50k p/w the other week. You don't know how much he's on really do you?

Of course not as I haven't seen his pay slip... According to the FM update it's 50k and other sources are indicating it's 30k... Whatever way do you think he's joined us for a bag of chips and a thrupenny bit?

Karljohn Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 He has no plan B, never has had (remember england v brazil world cup?), but in most part its been above average since he took over. The fact that pretty much the entire team were not fit until Sousa had been gone 3-4 weeks hasnt helped as we were slow out of the blocks under Sven, It was nearer to 15 games before we started to get it together not Sousa's 9 and its inevtiable that the shit would hit the fan at some point, as it still is everywhere apart from QPR and Norwich. He does baffle me with selections, Ricardo over Weale, Vassell starting every game, and today's bizarre decision to drop Vitor, but i'll judge him over one complete season, and I just hope that he spends the summer trying to understand this league and whats required in order to get out of it.
Larry_LCFC Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Sven's problem is he is too much of an apoligist. He comes across on the radio as a nice guy. To say we "played well" literally after every loss just makes him deluded. He needs to grow a pair and rollock those players after today. As for playing his favourite big names over people like waghorn ... well thats just a joke too
broughtonblue Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 I am not anti Sven, in fact I like the way he conducts himself generally. I just don't think he has a 'plan b' in his locker when things are not going well. A case of this was England v brazil world cup quarter final, brazil winning but down to 10 men, the game was crying out for a change but nothing happened. He doesn't look like he wants to change a formation mid game, just subbing players like for like. But I'm still glad he's here! Wondering whether the loss of Chris Powell is a factor in the recent poor run?
somebum Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Chris Powell, you never know mate - could be a Steve Clarke situation
m00nie Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 hes lost 7 out of last 8 (drew the other) at charlton so.....
broughtonblue Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 hes lost 7 out of last 8 (drew the other) at charlton so..... Yeah I know he's not doing too well at the mo, but that's as a manager. Here he wasn't in the main role, was well respected by all the players ( as far as I know) so could have been the vital link between Sven and the team. Just a thought anyway
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Sven for me is good at the start but when the going gets tough and the pressure is on, he loses it. And it shows with his team selections and tactics, with the tactics sometimes being non existant. He has almost over done everything, signed too many players and we are starting to lose our way because of it. Changed things all too quickly, and not even changed it for the better but just for the players he likes.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 I start to believe that, with us now being relatively safe from relegation, Sven has only one thing in mind with the games remaining: To experiment as much as he can with what player material he has (and that includes bringing in emergency loans at the very last minute). All this talk about still being able to make it to the playoffs is just a pretense, even though it's still possible to end the season within the Top 6. Interesting hypothesis though I'm not sure I agree even though there's a lot of evidence to support it. I mean WOULD he? It seems slightly crazy but Sven strikes me as unconventional - even when he was England manager. He has a tendancy to say one thing and do another which can easily confuse supporters. Maybe another season in this league and winning it comfortably (hmmmmmm) would do us a hell of a lot better than scraping in at the last minute. At the end of the day it's all conjecture. Only Sven knows and he's hardly likely to say to the fans, "Ahhh well I was tinkering around for NEXT season.)
Danno Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 This is not a 'Sven Out' campaign However, there has been a lot of crap posted on here over the past few weeks about how magical Sven is and automatic promotion is possible etc... (see 'The Sven Revolution' for a particularly biased account..) Sven concerns me at the moment as it COULD be he is taking the club in the wrong direction. Selling Morrison, loaning out Hobbs and Schlupp, bringing-in Ricardo and the Yak. Dropping Vittor and playing Bruma today.... the list of strange decisions is becoming longer. On the plus side, Naughton is superb in my opinion, BUT I don't think he'll stay. Is Sven still being seen as a Prize or a plonker? A magician or a court jester? Is he taking the club forward or are we actually getting rid of our better longer-term assets? Discuss please Idiot. Why would you not bring in Yakubu? Best striker in the squad imo. Played bruma because of his height and strength. Sven obviously knew that Portsmouth are a very physical side so picked him instead. Never thought we were going to go up this season. Not good enough.

Saying you are saying that svens squad is not good enough? And is bruma bigger and stronger than vitor? He certainly don't look it
Babylon Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Svens biggest mistake.... Going on that crazy win streak to give the delusionists ammo to fuel the talk that we are going up this year. I for one one am chuffed as hell about where we are now considering where we were under Sousa. Amen.
