Kingylcfc Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 to throw the kitchen sink ..... sure they have said that ahahaha
cc_star Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Just seen it It's obvious Sven would want players who were successful for him in the past Michael Owen is one of the most natural goal scorers ever, but I wonder just how many games he'd play for us, and would his presumably very high wages be put to better use elsewhere - like a goalie & 3 defenders who know how to defend The owners want a big name to sell shirts & grow the brand in the far east & Owen was a big name. How 'up for it' he'd be in the Championship week in week out isn't known and along with his injury record since leaving Liverpool, I'd say he's quite a gamble (not goal-scoring as he's still got it, but minutes on the pitch) I suppose a pay as you play would be out of the question
JmorsonLCFC Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Yes please, proven goalscorer and rarely misses a good chance!
Grayster84 Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 lets buy kamara. he played well today and if he keeps playing like that we could get him when his contract expires at fulham at the end of the season
Joeb.lcfc Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Kamara-Yak-Owen in a tight front three next season please sven
lcfc_jme Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Definitely a resounding fvcking no.
Foxybeaver Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Differently rather put the money into getting proper well rounded top-class championship players, Howson, Sinclair, Grapham and Williams.
dave the caveman Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Would take him only if it was calculated that he would pay for himself through increased revenue. As a footballer I don't think he has anything to offer and he really ought to retire rather than further tarnish his reputation by failing in the championship.
FoxesFan123 Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Can you imagine the strikeforce......vassel, heskey, owen Rolling back the years. Fairytale, would not work but I can't help but want it to happen.
CKB Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Definitely a resounding fvcking no. You would turn down a fit Owen in this league?? he would have a laugh and would score for fun probs would end up with 30 goals.. I'd welcome this move completely, yes there's a question mark over his fitness but still Owen in a City shirt? worth the admission fee in itself

I'd welcome this move completely, yes there's a question mark over his fitness but still Owen in a City shirt? worth the admission fee in itself Who said he's fit, he hasn't been fit for several games in a row for years Also, Owen will only work with a 4-4-2, which would require a whole new midfield and a big man like Heskey beside him, if we had Heskey+Owen its unlikely they'd both be fit at the same time

But still Owen in a City shirt? come on, we as fans were happy a few years ago with people like Josh Low signing or hard workers like Iain Hume and now we get linked with people like Owen, it's brilliant! And who knows what Sven potentially has in mind for the summer? he may want to go with a 4-4-2?
Kitchandro Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 lets buy kamara. he played well today and if he keeps playing like that we could get him when his contract expires at fulham at the end of the season After one game?!

Not saying I don't want to attract top players but as for the novelty of seeing big names in a City shirt - I'm really not bothered. If Owen could stay fit and if he's hungry, he could do the biz, but I'd only want him here if that was the case and he could help fire us to promotion. Having seen a massive name down at the Wharf won't console me if ex-players and newly promoted teams are getting promoted instead of us, as would appear to be the case this season.
Kitchandro Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Kamara-Yak-Owen in a tight front three next season please sven None of those 3 are wingers. Owen on the wing??? You can't just throw players together like that. You need round pegs in round holes, you need a system, you need players to compliment each other. A Scott Sinclair typee player is a must in the summer - Gally on the other side (if recent performances haven't proved he is important for us I don't know what will) and then you pick 1 of Yak/Kamara/Owen/Waghorn/Vassell/other for the centre. Playing strikers out wide hasn't worked on the whole, see Vassell as the best example.

I personally think even if Owen played half the games he would still be on about 16/20 goals ... There would be a risk signing him and maybe i'm getting carried away with the Thai revolution and where our club is at the moment.. You are right it wouldn't make me feel anygood either but i could at least say in years to come to my grandkids "hey you no that Michael Owen he played for Leicester City" instead of "Hey Josh Low played for Leicester City"

Yeah it probs is a total no go but it's nice to be linked with people like Owen I swear if in years to come one of my grandkids says "oh yeah Josh Low, did my research on him could have been a massive success" i'll actually disown them Oh and you made a great call about Scott Sinclair in one of your replies to someone.. I'd love him here and Sven's gone on record saying he's class, we need to make a cheeky bid for him in the summer depending on what league Swansea are in or us for that matter, keep the faith and all that.............cough, cough!
phillthefox Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 after todays shocking performance we need defenders and a keeper before we look at old strikers, but did think kamara played very well unlike the ref !!!!!!!!
LCFCmatt Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 We've had big name signings before from the premier league. Kirkland. Davies. Owen could definitely be as bad as them.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 No-one, repeat NO-ONE is guarenteed to get anyone 30 goals a season. Its this optism that makes it hurt so much when we fail. No doubt people on here think we'll walk the league next season. We won't. Owen was a good player for quite a short period of time- what 4 or 5 years perhaps? His downfall was his injuries, but I think he'd rather stick with his horses now. Out of contract in the summer. Would I like to see him here? Not really. We need players with hunger and a desire, someone young and is relatively uknown to other teams. One player id like to see here though is scott parker. Rated him for years, god knows why hes only just getting the recognition he deserves
Matt Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Just can't see this league being right for him, it's to 'rough and tumble' for him I could quite easily see him getting injured within his first game, as he struggles to complete many games in the Premiership - I understand this is also because he is down the pecking order at United, but it isn't just that reason is it, he's not the most injury free player is he. Not overly keen.
sdb Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Not keen. The guy is a complete sick note. Sure he'd be great at this level but he'd never play. Pointless.
