Jimmy Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 massive wages+unreliable fitness record= TERRIBLE signing
Neil_LCFC Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Bellamy won't get 30 goals for Cardiff & I doubt Owen would play enough games to get much more than double figures at best for us. Being a big name doesn't have any guarantees of success.I would rather go for Danny Graham from Watford but I doubt Sven/the Thai owners even look at players in our division. I hope we actually sign some seasoned pros not just kids from premier league sides this summer. We seem to take experienced forwards on loan but only take kids on loan in defence which has been a big mistake.
sdb Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 As much as I love Sven I can't help wondering if a small part of his brain is stuck in 2002
Joe. Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Not a surprising rumour at all, but what would be surprising is if he actually genuinely fancied a crack at Championship football. I think that would be a resounding no. But from a playing perspective, he'd be a cracking signing. He may be injury prone and not have the yard of pace he always had, but that finishing touch of his is still priceless.
SMX11 Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 I don't think anyone in their right mind would turn down Michael Owen to be at Leicester but I think Sven needs to get a grip and realize that we don't need to splash stupid money to acquire players to get us out of this league. He certainly should realize that our back 5 need sorting sharpish. The amount individual errors from our players must have handed 30 goals to the opposition this year, we steady performers with experience at the back. Bruma, Van Aanholt and Mee have very little experience at this level and from what I have seen the Chelsea lads have to seriously buck their ideas up or they will be turning out for Coventry sooner rather than later God I wish Tunch can have some games before the end of the year and show them how to defend.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 31 year old former European Footballer of the Year interested in joining mid-table Championship side? "Yeah, no thanks, I'll pass." Jesus wept. You'd think the tiitle of this thread said "Michael Ricketts" judging by the reaction on here
sdb Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Lets take on Pele then. He's won World Cups. We're a Championship club, we can't be paying players £50/60/70k a week to lie on a treatment table. The guy is shot. How many games has he played in 2011?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Wouldnt want him. Think its becoming a bit of a joke with all these rumours.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 lets buy kamara. he played well today and if he keeps playing like that we could get him when his contract expires at fulham at the end of the season we wouldnt need to buy him. he is out of contract at the end of the season, and has said he does not want to stay at fulham and he is 'all-ears' about staying at leicester. if we dont go up this season, we will win this thing next year!
lcfc81 Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 There seems to be an assumption we would be paying huge wages for him. I'm sure I heard he was on some sort of pay as you play deal at Man United? If he was up for it, the wages were 'pay as you play' or reasonable, and he is free, why not? Surely the impact on attracting other players and boost for the commercial side to LCFC must be considered as well as his contribution to the 1st team? Personally I'm undecided about it, but can certainly see some real benefits to it. Its prob. all rubbish anyway.

I still would rather spend 2-3 mil on Danny Graham and pay 10k a week than pay 50k + a week/game on Michael Owen because it is looking behold the short term future of the club.

Bert Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 massive wages+unreliable fitness record= TERRIBLE signing Might as well ring Sven and tell him now. Jimmy has spoken.
The Padster Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 So let me get this straight, if hypothetically he was to be fit for most of the season people still wouldn't want him because of wages or equally petty reasons ?
The Doctor Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 at this thread. One of the most natural goalscorers of a generation who, if he could stay fit for more than 4/5 games at a time would absolutely destroy this league and no-one wants him?

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 And Gradel back Wishing Gradel was back in the form he is in is hardly the crime of the century is it. The lad has 16 goals to his name and his style would be perfect for the way Sven plays.

Ashley Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Reading this thread and the thread such as the Heskey one and people calling for him to be converted to a centre back have no footballing brain what so ever.
