Kyle Naughton can be big hit on wing

Sven-Goran Eriksson believes Leicester City right-back Kyle Naughton could follow Gareth Bale and step out of defence to become a potent attacking force.

Wales international Bale has been a revelation for Tottenham Hotspur since he was converted by Harry Redknapp from a left-back to a left winger, and Eriksson said Naughton has the ability to follow suit.

Naughton and fellow full-back Patrick Van Aanholt's marauding runs down the flanks have been a feature of City's attacking play, but Eriksson said their adventurous nature sometimes leaves City exposed defensively.

However, he said shackling the pair would go against what he believes in.

"I am quite sure he could do that," said Eriksson. "Kyle is very good going forward and has scored five goals for us this season, which is very good for a defender.

"I could rein them in, but I would have to make violence on myself.

"The reason why I wanted them is the characteristic they have. They are attacking full-backs.

"I know both of them are not patient sometimes. That has something to do with experience and age. They want to attack too much some times, and sometimes both at the same time.

"But I think they did rather well last Saturday. They are good and we need to go for it this Saturday."

Eriksson will send his side out on the attack against Burnley and he said he was excited by the performances of his front three at Middlesbrough last Saturday.

Yakubu scored a hat-trick, while new signing Diomansy Kamara looked promising on his debut and Darius Vassell was threatening.

"I was very happy with the three up front," said the City boss.

"I have not seen Yakubu and Vassell that lively for a while. If that was because of Kamara helping them to make life easier, I don't know.

"We scored three goals away against a side that is in great shape at the moment. The frustrating thing is we only got one point.

"We are still very lively, in good shape, and we still want to play football, and fight for promotion."

Yes he could play there, but he would be marked by a more defensive minded fullback & not a tracking back winger as he currently is

He probably won't get as much joy as he does now AND we'd miss his pace at the back.

And play who at right back?

Frank Sinclair

Coatsworth, we're missing a player with 'tache

And he kicked Derby's Tommy Johnson at Wembley just as hard as he did

Hmmmm....when I suggested this last week it got universally shot down but hey thats expected I guess!!!

Vitor will make an excellent RB, in a flatter back four, just as Mee does at LB.

But why play our best right back out of position and our best centre half out of position? What does that gain?

The wing back system can leave us exposed at the back against better oposition, so what I was getting at is that we should have a 442 option also but with natural width (Not Oakley and Abe on the wings)

Something like this....

...........................Weale/Ricardo........................

Vitor...............Bamba.......Bruma..........Mee........

Naughton......Wellens.....King.........PVA/Gally

......................Yak............Kamara/Vassel......

I really rate Vitor too and think he would slot in well as a RB meaning we have a 442 system where our best defencive minded players can play. You can say that back four doesn't look solid!?

Naughton is a young skillfull attack minded RB playing so switching to a winger should be easy (Gareth Bale).

Which is what I was getting at saying

Naughton doesn't take enough people on to be good on the wing in my opinion, he gets through on the overlap or the ball over the top, he cuts inside too much when he has a defender in front of him. Also not too worried about Naughton defensively, PVA on the other hand could play wing and has struggled in defence, so if any of the full backs need to push forward to wing then it should be Van Aanholt.
