Hobbs to hand in transfer request

If this is true, which is highly plausible it will be a little disappointing.

There are a few players from last season who really weren't good enough for the top end of this level and I can accept that, but Hobbs showed true potential and his player of the season award is can't be ignored.

Not too long ago there were a lot of City fans saying he'd be future England and that maybe he could lead us back to the premiership but those visions are long gone.

Hope he succeeds wherever he ends up.

To be honest, You have to really think Sven wants to start the team from scratch. He doesn't care for much of the players who were their to begin with. So im sure Hobbs won't get a look in even if he stayed. Sven will probably make a lot of signings this summer be it on loan or perm. So all the best to Hobbs if he isn't in Svens plans and decides to go elsewhere. After all we are the Man City of the championship are we not?

Hobbs has the potential to be a good defender, no question. I like the guy and I'm sure I was saying last season that I hope he stays for years to come and establishes himself as a firm favourite with everyone. However, if he doesn't want to be here, he's gona have to fvck off, it's as simple as that. He's not intimidating enough for a big CB and is extremely limited in a technical sense as well.

Looked brilliant when playing alongside a more experienced, commanding, no-nonsense CB last season in a team that had a back 6 or 7, but our midfield actually attacks and goes forwards now so it's no suprise he looked a lot worse in this team with less protection.

Unless he wants to be here and is determined enough to live up to his potential and force Sven to take notice, then he'll have no future here. Sad but true, and ultimately fair.

I am gobsmacked - Someone can come on this forum and start a "rumour" about a player which is probably completely untrue, get slagged off in the process and gets away with it. The players really should be able to take these people to book for their so called information.

This time next year these comments will be bestowed upon all the current members of the team - thats what we do at Leicester - praise them up one year - bring them down the next! Make the most of it current squad - your turn next.

Much as we enjoyed the Pearson era and the players that came with it, Hobbs was bloody awful this season and it's not like he didnt have a chance. He played in many games under Sven and was dogshit in all of them.

I've got quite a few friends from Hull and they all say the same thing. Good at all the simple things but for a guy of his size doesnt have any physical prescence.

This pretty much sums up my opinion of him since day 1. He's a big lad but for some reason when I see him play he seems feeble. In League 1 he was fantastic and for the majority of our first season in the Championship he was good but was that down to who was playing alongside him?

We'll never know and to be honest, it's not something that i'll be particularly bothered about if he never pulls on a Leicester shirt again. Don't get me wrong, if he came back and was amazing then brilliant, i've nothing against the guy, but lets be honest, Ben Mee is about half his size but about twice the player.

Sorry JT but are you attending the same matches as me? Mee has been better but let's remember is was awful in his first few matches and if it was someone else they would have been dropped but I'd rather our own talent, Sven say's he wants Hobbs to go and get experience yet brings in Mee, Hobbs hasn't been given a fair chance cos he hasn't played in his right position. Typical Leicester fans, minute a player is out the door you bum the one coming in. Same happened with Fryatt who again wasn't given the chance under Sven. I'd rather Fryatt over Yak. I'd even prefer Stevie H on some days. Vitor has been the only good defender for me and yet scores2and gets dropped. Sven doesn't seem to care about who got us where last year and I think it's a shame we have forgotten what this lad has done for us.

Oh come on. You know if he plays against us next season for another team (if he leaves) you'll be chanting leicester reject like the rest of us :giggle:

if true this has been coming and to be honest wouldnt suprise me one bit.

i highly doubt he'ld want to play a part in Hulls promotion push under a manager who knows how to get the best out of him then come back and sit on the bench for another half a season.

how many more times can he keep going out on loan and gain experience before hes 'good enough' or 'ready' for the first team?

Absolutely not, I teach my children respect and if you pull on a City shirt, lead my team to the play off's, sound outside for godknows how long having photos and signing autograph's and never slagging my club off then no, I'll support him and cheer him of and wish him all the best for his future. I think there's a lot of failed footballers or played 5 a side for too many years and think they are the next England manager. There is no need to get personal over a 'rumour' which has not been confirmed by the player and all this hate is for nothing. Praise the boy, the wants to play football and make a career for himself. A lot of people would give their leg to be in those players positions and if they've don't nothing wrong or spoken out of turn why should we slag him off. It baffles me how some people call themselves fans. I thought this was a forum, not a slagging match or pure jealousy. If Hobbs returns next season in a different shirt we should cheer him. He hasn't done anything wrong, our manager is a money hungry person and our owners wants a quick fix for success. How is that Hobbs' fault?

vitor and mee over hobbs all day long (if we can sign them or get another season loan). Also we got the tunch on his way back, if he can get back to his best we got a player on our hands!!

For me hobbs looked shakey from the first game of the season, maybe he didnt get on with sousa and doesnt suit svens style but if he leaves theres much better options out there. Just my opinion! :)

Carnt fault him i'd be well pissed off if i was him hes one of the best defenders in the league and hes not good enough to play for leicester!!! Hope he does well hull he deserves better.

A six letter word called banter? :dunno:

That's the way I felt about Morrison, and the way I see it going with Waghorn too sadly.

As much as everyone bangs on about how much potential we have with a world class manager like Sven and the Thais' billions, I was dead proud of what we had under Pearson (largely home grown squad who played for each other and punched above their weight, mixed in with some decent overseas signings and promising youngsters) and to see almost all of that dissolved over the course of this season has been quite unsettling.

Given the choice, I would genuinely prefer life under Pearson right now.

I agree with most of what you have said...so far anyway...just be careful though, on here you may be shot down in flames

I have never taken that song as banter and I doubt the players on the receiving end of it think its banter. It saddens me that we are a club who wants to be negative to players without any reason. It baffles me. I'm baffled what people see in Sven, I would have prefered Powelly till the end of the season and a sensible replacement come in in the summer.

He was immense last season and there's no doubt he's an excellent defender, but as has been said, he's just not suited to Sven's style of play. He wants players that are comfortable on the ball all over the field and can pass their way out of defence, but Hobbs always looked uneasy and prone to making mistakes when asked to play that way. That's not his fault, by any stretch of the imagination, but if he's not that kind of player, he's not that kind of player, and would be better off playing in a team and for a manager that suit his abilities. Bamba and Mee are vastly superior in this department, so it's not hard to see why Sven saw them as better options (I'd include Vitor in that too, but I don't think he ever took Hobbs' place in the team, as he was injured).

Good luck for the future, Jack, you'll be remembered fondly.

He wants players that are comfortable on the ball all over the field and can pass their way out of defence

I ask again, do you think this is Sol Sol Bamba?

If we get promoted next season, we'll give you the honour in telling sven too F*** off, shall we?

I've always felt it a shame when squads are bought and it's like a conveyor belt (Man City, Chelsea etc) and this summer could be pivotal for us. We've quickly become a similar type of club to the two mentioned (obviously on a less grander scale) and I really hope it dies down a bit and we try and construct a squad. I want players to grow on me but you don't get this with the potential scenario we could have on our hands for the next few years.

I felt more passionate about the club last season but the standard of football this year has been much better at times. I guess you have to accept we're in a transitional period and the time for building will come when we're a bit more settled.

Superb post IMO :appl:

Yes I'd love too if we don't get there but I think the owners will beat me too it the rate he's spending their money.

He's certainly shown he's more comfortable on the ball than Hobbs ever did. At times he can look like he's on the brink of making a huge mistake, I'll give you that, but then he's also produced some moments of brilliance, too - numerous runs forward, taking on several players in the process, twisting and turning his way out of tricky situations, beating his man on the wing to set up Yakubu's goal against Bristol City, etc. He's far from perfect, but I think he's far more suited to Sven's tactics than Hobbs ever will be.

I like him and still think he could do a job for us but if Sven feels we can improve on him then fine.

We got a couple of cracking seasons out of him and he'll leave with my best wishes.

Having read your post the answer to your question is no. We definitely don't attend the same matches.

So you would support a city player who moves on to another club, but won't support your own Team Manager?

Come man, Sven got us closer to the play offs than we could have ever hoped to imagine. Remember at the turn of the year, 7 wins and 1 draw? I know it seems a long time ago and we've since hit bad form, but I bet Sven wasn't useless then was he

cant agree with you... if Sven wants defensive playmakers then Sol Bamba is NOT that

I like Sol - scores goals, lots of effort...but he's a poor distributor of a football and doesn't fit the mould of defender that you claim Sven wants, IMO
