cairnsy Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Just wondered what people think the greatest goal of all time is (Sorry if this has been done before) Mine personally is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytSt7EnHhXc
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Impossible to pick just one. In all seriousness though: a goal so good it was referenced in train-spotting. Hard to believe he was scot gemmill's dad though the greatest toe-poke of all time, eh jimmy hill? and i couldn't leave this out: not the greatest goal but one which sparked possibly the greatest celebration i've ever been involved in:
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Favourite Leicester one, probably. Insane technique to pull that off.A few Bergkamp's:
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I think this muzzy goal was better than that one: heskey's goal ain't half bad either.
Finnegan Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 how tinpot do you have to be to have a goal scored against England by some country that's not even yours as your favourite goal ever? Hahaha. I post this every time this subject comes up and I don't care, it's still my favourite and I still haven't ever gone this fucking ballistic when a goal went in. Both are top banana but Bellers is just sublime route-one. "DOES HE PANIC!? NO-HE-DOESN'T!" such Welsh commentary. Love it.
Itsthejoeker Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 This Bale masterpiece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_91zKwP5huE
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 how tinpot do you have to be to have a goal scored against England by some country that's not even yours as your favourite goal ever? Hahaha. those first two were not entirely serious, i'd have thought the In all seriousness though: underneath them would have made that relatively clear but evidently not. couldn't find a video of the goal on its own but: 2:50 - 3:50 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJJZvqFqzT4
Finnegan Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Yeah but couldn't you have found some more goals of Scotland scoring against England!? I guess not! Oh well!
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I probably could, in fact here we go: Incredibly old videos there: 40's and 50's the last two.
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Christ how far back did you have to go for even a glimpse of a good moment in Scottish footballing history.
The Doctor Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Christ how far back did you have to go for even a glimpse of a good moment in Scottish footballing history. 1999 - win v england in the last fixture we played at old wembley before that: 1982 - Narey v Brazil, 1978 - Gemmill v Holland, 1967 - 3-2 win at wembley, first team to beat england after the world cup win. We're unoffically the best team in the world (won the Unoffical World Cup title (runs like boxing - holders until defeats) more than anyone else)
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 4 good moments since 1967 That's if losing 4-1 counts as a good moment. Congrats chaps
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Was in love with the guy at the time, actually celebrated this goal even though Fiorentina lost. Just for the commentary.
StanSP Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I don't think I have or ever could have a favourite goal. Two City one's have already been mentioned (Izzet's goals). Bergkamp's has been mentioned and Rivaldo vs Valencia. These are just SOME which come to mind: The technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdy5fKdLvL8 The power: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poPo3YjwIfc The precision/occasion: and
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 As a seven year old kid, watching Owen do that against Argentina was monumental. Could tell what a serious occaision it was. That's why I support England. Qualifying for tournaments is great.
StanSP Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 The others didn't come up so here they are: The audacity: and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBHzY5AbZ9Q The awesomeness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbASd5CU3H8 And my favourite Leicester City one, cos I was there when it happened (first 15 seconds) And MTWG, although being only 7 too, I can still remember the epic celebrations that went on when it flew in to the back of the net
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Everything about it, including the commentary. OHHH YA BEAUUUUTY
StanSP Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Just reminded me of another favourite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKplXAWFZrA Love that he's arguing with the ref, then 2 seconds later he does that!
