DanTheFox07 Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Thought I would put this one up for debate as im curious to know which player everyone see`s as being the most influential to leicester, Would you choose King for his Goal contribution to the side? Gallagher for his deadball and crossing ability or Wellens because he has an eye for a clinical pass, then you have oakley who has been captain for long periods.Undoutbley Sven has looked at our team and will be looking to compliment certain players more than others, what do you think? opinions please.
B52 Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Gally this coming season and maybe King the next...... Get Gally his own pitbull warrior and he have a hit.
Kent Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 In terms of 'building a team around' I'd say Wellens. Pulls the strings in the middle and puts the foot in as well.
Christoph Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Andy King, 15 goals from midfield isnt too bad, and he could have had probably 20 this season with some of the chances he's missed so i'd say him
Haydos Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Kingy. If there's one player that even slightly needs to be carried and at the same time suits the kind of attacking play we're aiming for it's him. He's been linking up with Yakubu better each week and with a stronger midfielder alongside him there's no reason he couldn't benefit even more.
rams r4 sh*ggin Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 from the core players that we have its tricky to really choose solidly but heres my view:- if we are to base it on last seasons form. yes kingy does score but he drifts in and out of games alot. wellens last season gave us strength in midfield and played for the shirt. but he is getting on now and to build a solid team around him would be short term. on the other hand with kingy being so young he can give us many years and we could look to build a side of youngish players that stay together and become a solid unit over time. for me you can only look at it 2ways 1) short term around the likes of wellens 2) long term around kingy. but with both comes the dilema what you want to achieve with either way and time scale aloud to reach your goal.
googie Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 For me we have to go all out and sign Ben Mee.Build the team around him. He's young and a very good player at this level and could play at the very top once he get some games behind him.We need to sign him on a perm. deal now before he becomes a household name. This lad is going all the way.Sign him up Sven!
cc_star Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 I've voted Wellens, but I wouldn't mind a new signing in the middle - someone who's capable of bossing the game and getting ugly, winning the ball & laying it off to Wellens who can pick a better pass out To often Wellens isn't as effective as he could be because he's embroiled in a battle, but I suppose even me saying this is 'building' a team around Wellens King is an opportunist, you can't build a team around that, Gallagher is also a bit of an enigma, and obviously talented but for me not consistent.
Fox92 Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Voted for Wellens. He runs the midfield and isn't scared to put his foot in. He talks a lot more than King, hence Wellens should be captain.
Father Ted Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Gallagher is a fantastic player who in my opinion is too slow to be a winger in our system next season but should be playing in Andy King's.position. He has that bit of creativity and on-the-ball quality that Kingy has and he can also strike good shots from distance. I reckon that if he played in that position he would score more goals than Andy King has this season and he would get more assists. To me, I think Wellens has been fantastic this season but playing in the defensive midfielder role he really needs to get more aggressive. Ideally, if we are to play with two DM's then we need a pitbull type of player and a deep-sitting playmaker (eg Huddlestone). Against Man City, Wellens really got stuck into them but he doesn't do that enough! If Yak plays then he would also be a vital player.

Corky Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 King. Young enough to get better and will do so with better quality around him. 40 goals in three years from midfield is a tremendous return.

How many goals have come from his first 2 touches? How many has he scored with his head? He's lethal, can you really see Gallagher doing this? If you want Gally in the middle, fair enough but he'd have to be in the hole (Kind of like Wellens' role but further forward) and have 2 more conservative players behind him. He'd more than likely bang a few in from range like this year but I still doubt he'd be up there with Kingy. And another thing. Wingers than can cross don't grow on trees. I can accept that 'he slows play down' or whatever is usually said about him, for the amount of quality balls he puts in. Did you see the one against Reading that Yak somehow headed wide. Naughton laid it off, first touch he rolled it in front with his studs, second touch was whipped from deep, across the 6 yard box, It was honestly up there with Beckhams best balls. The guy is invaluable out wide IMO.
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 None of the above. Of the above I'd go for Wellens However, I agree with you - I'd be looking to bring-in an experienced head (most probably at centre-back), make him captain and let him bring the young uns on (a bit like Brown did with Hobbs) - although someone better than Brown...

IMO Wellens himself will be brought-on if he knows there's a leader playing behind him
topharry123 Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 It just has to be King. I would say Wellens if he was younger, but he's a little too old to be looking at building a long term team around. Don't get me wrong, he'll be great for a couple of years, but i'd like to see us start to build a team that can get up and stay up and then start to challenge for at least the euro spots.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 I would not choose any of the above. The team will probably be built around a new quality midfield player.
