Jimmy Posted 14 May 2011 Posted 14 May 2011 Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini admits trying to lure Sven Goran-Eriksson to Sicily Palermo's president Maurizio Zamparini has admitted he tried to get Sven Goran Eriksson to the Sicilian club By Gareth McKnight Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has admitted that he tried to get Leicester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson to join the Sicilian club last year. Meanwhile rumours continue surrounding the future of the present club coach Delio Rossi, but the 69-year-old Zamparini has maintained that nothing has been resolved regarding the current Stadio Santa Barbera boss. "Last year I asked Sven Goran Eriksson to [come] to Palermo, when the Swede was no longer a coach, because we needed a very experienced person, able to handle everything; [the] team, market, club," the Udine born businessman told Corriere dello Sport. I Rosanero currently sit in eighth place and have a Coppa Italia final against Inter to look forward to. However it is uncertain whether the ex-Lazio coach Rossi will still be at the club next season. "The priority remains Delio Rossi, before anything else I need to speak with him," Zamperini stated. "If we fail to keep him, I will have to seek a new coach. A name that I really like is Bortolo Mutti, who is prepared and is a great professional. I also like [Eduardo] Reja and [Gian Piero] Gasperini," he concluded. Palermo face Sampdoria tomorrow in Serie A at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, before taking Chievo on the last day of the season.

sphericalfox Posted 14 May 2011 Posted 14 May 2011 I'm certain I have heard this news before. Whether it was an article in a newspaper or in an interview early doors with Sven. I am sure he said that he had other options but decided to go with Leicester. I believe and I can be corrected that he said a lower Italian side (see Palermo) and a Middle Eastern side. Maybe I am imagining this, but it rings a bell.

somebum Posted 14 May 2011 Posted 14 May 2011 Sven's agents ensure his name gets linked to any job. Didn't Real Madrid want him last season
ajthefox Posted 14 May 2011 Posted 14 May 2011 Sven's agents ensure his name gets linked to any job. Didn't Real Madrid want him last season Why do you even bother posting if everything is so ridiculously pessimistic. It's as if you actually want us to fail just so you can be proven right.
davieG Posted 14 May 2011 Author Posted 14 May 2011 Sven's agents ensure his name gets linked to any job. Didn't Real Madrid want him last season Well he's a bit late with this one. Or it could be the Palermo President being worried about his position or talking up a potential managerial . Out of somebum you get some crap!

ajthefox Posted 14 May 2011 Posted 14 May 2011 It surprises me that this surprises people, he was bound to have other offers on the table, he didn't come here because we were all he could get.
Finnegan Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 I miss Radovan's Caravan. He's probably still around somewhere, Chandler can't resist a good alter-ego.
