Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson preaches patience on deals

read what wellens wrote last night in l.m. man with a brain , unlike some . sven was on holiday in portugal last week and at home in sweden this . what a grafter and so serious about our club , not !

Have you not heard of the new invention, I think they call it a telephone. One day it's thought they might even be able to make them mobile... a mobile telephone, how laughable.

I bet Svens list of targets got lost in the post, after all that's the only way of sending them to the club. If only there was a way of electronically sending mail.

I'm pretty sure it said in the leicester mercury that the city management expected any deals to be done rapidly once the season had finished , to be honest the names upto now that are being mentioned aren't really encouraging , I personally think that the so called quality players will only come here as a last resort , i e given ,yakubu ,sorry to sound negative folks

Erm... So football managers are not allowed to take some time off, just like any other part of the working population?

Aren't you getting tired of spouting so much shit every day and every week on this forum yourself?

Another beautifully put repost.... Though in this case I'm inclined to agree

Without wanting to stir this up, other clubs ARE doing business and we arent

I just wish we could actually see something happening rather than lazy journalism and twitter hunches.

How do you know this? From the sounds of things....

1) Enquiries were made immediately about several loanees from last season (we were effectively told to come back later).

2) David Nugent deal seems all but wrapped up.

3) Bert seems to think the Yakubu deal is still on the cards.

4) Serious groundwork regarding a new keeper. (Enquiries about Westwood and Given?)

Finally, get used to it. The club, whether you have a hissy fit about it or not, aren't going to be telling us about every little move they make when it comes to playing staff.

It wouldn't suprise me if sven and faz have a list of 20 or 30 players maybe more.

What they are doing is working their way through it. But some deals don't take 2 days like on football manager they can take weeks. Managers, players, chairman may still be on holiday. So deals for certain players won't be done.

I'd rather they took their time and got the right player than take every player offered to them like Martin Allen did here.

Sven will sort it I'm sure of that. As long as we have a good team on august 7th that's the main thing.

NOPE... We need a good team BEFORE the 7th of august

The summer ain't only for signing players, it's for creating cohesion and tactical knowledge for the forthcomIng campaign

I'm sure Sven would say something like "buying good players is like making love to a beautiful woman",

Would he now...... Oh dear

I don't agree. The summer means signing the right players and if that takes longer so be it as well as bringing the team together.. Better than signing crap players.

Why, if you only buy players that have difficulties adapting to different circumstances I would agree. But I hope sven gets players with brains and adaptable.

It seems you're used to lower league mentality. lol

I'll just repeat what I've previously mentioned.

Its not Sven sitting on his hands doing nothing. He will have handed over his prioritised list of players that he requires and all negotiations will now be in the hands of Andrew Neville the new Football Director. The most Sven will be doing now is scouting and meeting potential signings to discuss ambitions etc.

I've read that before... How on earth can we sign a squad fit for winning the division, make them gel, bond, instill tactics, discipline, settle em in etc within about what... 6 weeks?

Is that how it's done?

Look at Man utd as the beacon for how to progress a club properly.. One or two signings per close season max, get em as early as possible, give them time to feel at home at the club... Is this rocket science cos some of the crap coming out on here at the mo is even worse than usual...

Just so you know where to point the 'blame'.

We're after players that are obviously in high demand, so any negotiations are going to be pretty protracted.

We're still in the same boat as about 20 other clubs in our league, transfer wise. I think we're at about 8 or 9 transfers for the whole league so far.

You really can't compare us to Man Utd and Barcelona, those clubs have massive pulling power!!!!!

Yes all the competition are miles ahead of us, they've all got their teams ready and raring to go.

This is horseshit. Are you deliberately trying to troll every thread?

Yes it's important to get the majority of the team together before we start the season. Is it likely that we will bring a couple of players in during August possibly. But so will our competition. Derby have signed near half a team of dross already. Do you think if they 'gel' together they have a chance of avoiding relegation this season.

The way I see it is there are two reasons why we are yet to make signings....

1) It's still bloody early!

2) To many outsiders (players) we are just another club with rich owners and premier league ambitions. There are quite a few clubs in said scenario who have failed to deliver. Us for example when MM came in...

I feel therefore that we need that first signing to show that we mean business, then hopefully the others will follow. Let's face it, without the loan players from last season our squad is actually pretty shallow and lacking talent in some positions (full backs, goalkeeper, strikers, wingers).

Clearly the nucleus of a good squad is there. The likes of King, Wellens etc. are the sort of players who can get a team out of the Championship and not many need to be added around them.

So in short, let's not cry about the current situation. Quality is much more important than quantity, and I just have a feeling that once the first deal is made a few will follow in quick succession...

Please please please stop making out that I'm making comparisons with man u, barcelona et al.... I know it's all relative

It's the model of how they do things which is my point...

The gradual improvement of a squad, a club etc rather than a 'quick fix' solution.

City has become a 'quick fix' solution.. This is not the model I would choose for long term success

I simply said we should have a squad assembled before the 7 th of august! Why is this trolling the thread for fooks sake?

You ARE! Its not relative to compare the way our club work with theirs. Compare us to any other club in our league yes but to compare the way we do transfers with Man Utd is madness! Man Utd can write their own ticket transfer wise, they can tie up transfers alot quicker. We're fighting and negotiating along side about 10 or 12 similarly placed clubs for the same players. Man Utd, will rarely have to fight it out with more than 4 of Europe's top clubs for a signature!

Hold on... What I said was minimal transfers of good quality made early in the transfer window (jones for example)...

Why can't we do this? ???

C'mon, stop trolling. It's getting repetitive.

Because we CAN'T do that. Any QUALITY player we want to bring in is also being sounded out by other clubs in our league and possibly even lower end Premiership clubs, we've then got to outbid them fee wise and contract wise, which takes time. Our standing in the league is very similar to alot of other clubs, Man Utd didn't exactly have a huge amount of rivals for Jones' signature!

I have no idea what trolling means? Genuinely... Im not one of your foxes talk in-crowd and am naive to these terms..

If it means making points which are not absolutely in line with the mainstream then yes, I must be trolling?

Enlighten me prussian

You know that early August is still two months away?

You also realize that all other teams in this league have made no to hardly any signings?

We're not behind competition, every team in this league is in the same boat - faced with having to make their minds up regarding the best possible transfer.

Take a chill pill.
