MikeyT Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has said he will not rush into the transfer market. City have been linked with a host of potential new signings and, while Eriksson was reluctant to discuss possible targets, he said he would be patient to get the right players to bolster City's Championship promotion challenge. City were linked with a £1 million move for Sheffield United striker Ched Evans yesterday, but the Mercury understands no bid has been lodged and neither have they made a move for Aberdeen winger Sone Aluko, as was speculated in the Scottish media. Also, Mexican striker Antonio Pedrosa Whitham is not believed to be a target. There have been further links with Paul Konchesky of Liverpool, Emile Heskey of Aston Villa and Shay Given of Manchester City, but City may struggle to tempt such players to drop down to the second tier. Free agents Marlon King, goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and Diomansy Kamara, who spent a loan period with City from Fulham last season, are believed to still be on the radar and more likely to come to City, although they will not be the only interested club. Eriksson refused to be drawn on individual players, but did state he was in no rush to dive into making any immediate signings. He said: "There are a lot of players who are free and others who want to change clubs. "It is too easy to dive in. We have a big list of players. "I don't think you can rush in. The market has just started and the Premier League only finished a few days ago. "You know it will be open until August 31 and there will be many turns for all clubs. "I would like it to be earlier rather than later in the summer, but that is not always possible." Eriksson is still keen on bringing back former loan players Jeffrey Bruma, Patrick Van Aanholt, Kyle Naughton and Ben Mee for further spells with the club. Eriksson said only loans would be possible for Chelsea pair Bruma and Van Aanholt, who has signed a new four-year contract at Stamford Bridge, and he accepted he may have to wait until a new Chelsea boss is appointed. "I am sure whoever it is will want to see both of them in pre-season," said Eriksson. "They might decide on letting them out on loan for a year. I would take Bruma today if possible but it isn't. "They will not sell either of them because they strongly believe they have a great future." City have hosted a charity match involving the club's stewards and the Leicestershire police force which has raised £475 for the Wish Upon A Star charity.
Austin Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Any reason why Svennis is in love with Bruma .. ? Being dutch he must know some cheap hookers I guess ...
drc Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Bruma must be AWESOME on the training ground..... Of course he must rate him, but one of the reasons could be that he really sees that he can cover two positions.
acooling08 Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Anyone else glad that PVA and Bruma aren't available??
Sly Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Bruma would be good enough, given time to blend into the squad.
MPH Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Just thought i would remind folks of this news story only a couple of weeks ago...... Payshuns!

sphericalfox Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Getting bored now. Want a signing! Get over to the Nugent thread, that's where everyone's at.
Corky Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Getting bored now. Want a signing! Unless it's Van Aanholt or Bruma.
J.Lisemore Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Not keen on either. I might be the only one but, I don't like the fact Van Aanholt openly uses us a stepping stone. (never mind being shit aswel)
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Getting bored now. Want a signing! The mercury are today reporting that city have agreed a three million fee for the yak... However he still appears to want to go to turkey... What with other available strikers I'd let the fooker go to turkey Three mill and what? 30/40k per week is over the odds imo

Strikers who will score as much as Yakubu did, because his record is better than any other option. Better than Danny Grahams, Robert Earnshaws etc The wages maybe over the top and he might not work as hard as other players, but in my opinion signing Yakubu is a no brainer. In relation to the thread, Sven might have some deals already near/already completed that he is keeping safe but I am getting fed up of other clubs signing players are we are not.

How many players are in Leicester then? I think it's great we have a manager that takes time to go out scouting in cheap sweden and talanted Portugal.
danlcfc4ever Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 :sge: knows what he's doing. :sge: is probably on holiday right now :sge: will sign players later in the window, nothing worth shouting about ever happens in June.
21st Century Fox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 I really wish someone would make a behind the scenes documentary of what actually happens during a transfer window, so that all the morons blaming Sven for the lack of signings might actually realise that he really has little to do with it after identifying his targets. Its not Sven sitting on his hands doing nothing. He will have handed over his prioritised list of players that he requires and all negotiations will now be in the hands of Andrew Neville the new Football Director. The most Sven will be doing now is scouting and meeting potential signings to discuss ambitions etc.
