stivesfox Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Who do people prefer this Rob Tanner guy or Ian Stringer, seems smug tweeter Stringer is going to ground and the king of transfer tweets and information is this Rob Tanner fella. Stringer seems quiet and not being kept so much in the know! Seems his passion for I know something you don't know has died since his dramatisation of the Real Madrid game. Tanner reading his tweets seems to Be pretty switched on and on the ball. Stringer seemed deflated and pissed off on the phone in Monday night! Stringer to busy posting s h it on twitter to Charles Dagnall, now that is one bloke love radio Leicester to get shot of Charles Dagnall, he annoyed me running the radio Leicester show right in the middle of s game and interrupting Alan young to discuss that boring game cricket!
B52 Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Will be interesting to see if Stringers love-in with certain players cost him information sources. It's a pity for a club when journos with limited analysing abilities tries to talk about wich player to play........
Guest MattP Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Can't stand Rob Tanner, I know Mandaric had the mercury crawling up his backside but Tanner was the main instigator of the Sousa love in. Anyone remember this nonsense they printed? Boy did some of the posters have it right in the comments underneath. http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/special/article-2548573-detail/article.html

He was bound to want to write nicer things about a bloke who was actually keen to talk to him.
thybluefox Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 I think Stringer is quieter as nothing is actually happening that he can report on. If he's choosing to only report on concrete transfer news, then he's had naff all to say for the last few weeks. All Tanner is doing is spouting rumours. I'm probably bias but I prefer Stringer over the Tanner bloke.
Guest MattP Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Maybe that was because media interaction was so frowned upon under Pearson? He was bound to want to write nicer things about a bloke who was actually keen to talk to him. Possible but the "sexy football" and "his assistant taught Jose everything he knows" were far to OTT. The reality was he had done a decent first season at Swansea and fcuked up the second. It looks even worse on him when you look at them now.
MrSpaM Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 It's blatently obvious that Stringer knows things about the club he can't currently talk about judging from the past two phone ins. I think he's been told to keep his mouth shut by the football club. Might seem like he's dropped off the radar a bit in recent weeks but i don't think it's his fault really. On the subject of the original post, i prefer Stringer to Tanner
Webbo Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Who do people prefer this Rob Tanner guy or Ian Stringer, Now I like Ian Stringer but I also like Rob Tanner......
Rob Tanner Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Now I like Ian Stringer but I also like Rob Tanner...... Love this...
Rob Tanner Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Love this... Ian is a lot younger and fitter, but I have a distinct weight advantage

It's a pity for a club when journos with limited analysing abilities tries to talk about wich player to play........ Which players does stringer love? Definatley Weale he did good job covering his error at Forest, Ricardo done that he would have gone about until his contract had been torn up! Ian is a lot younger and fitter, but I have a distinct weight advantage Any gossip Mr Reliable!
Rob Tanner Posted 27 May 2011 Posted 27 May 2011 Any gossip Mr Reliable! Plenty of gossip but not a massive amount of truth in some of the links. Sometimes there are other forces at work. If you want to create a market for a player it doesn't hurt to be linked with an ambitious club like City or a name like Sven's. It can create interest elsewhere. The names that have been quoted locally are the ones that have been mentioned as possibilities. Keiren Westwood is definitely in the frame, I understand, but other clubs are interested too. An enquiry was made about Marlon King, but not sure whether that enquiry will be followed up. We all know Sven would love people like Shay Given, Emile Heskey etc, but the chances of landing them are slim. City's continued Championship status is the crux. You have to be up with the big boys to pay big boy wages and add-ons etc. I know the owners will back Sven strongly but there is a difference between paying someone good money on a short term loan, like the Yak, where you are not tied in and commiting to a three-year contract with big money involved. If you don't get up, you are lumbered. Take it from me, the Thais are pretty switched on and clued up. They are incredibly polite and friendly when you meet them, but they give the impression they are nobody's fool. There are some links you may see that you can instantly dismiss, and then there are others that make you stop and think, like Nicky Maynard at Bristol City. I keep hearing from other journos that City are interested. As you can understand, City have to play their cards incredibly close to their chest. It is a game of cat and mouse because they won't be the only club chasing these targets. It isn't just on the pitch where the Championship is competitive. It is early days yet and as Sven told us this week, while he would love to get his targets on board ASAP, he has to be realistic and bide his time to get the right ones. This is a crucial summer for Sven and City so he isn't going to rush in and show all his cards early in the game. He may have to change his sights as he misses some targets (and I fear he may not be able to get some of the loans back he wants). But I genuinely believe this will be an exciting summer for the Blue Army. Now, me versus Ian Stringer in a ring... I would be the Mercury's Butterbean. Remember him? I would be like Ivan Drago standing over Apollo Creed, looking back at Creed (Ian's) corner (featuring Sinco and Daggers) "If he dies, he dies!" Cold Better do some work!
Foxes_Trust Posted 27 May 2011 Posted 27 May 2011 If Rob or Ian heard anything from within the club, they are doing exactly the right thing in not revealing the information (as would the Trust, as we also get a flow of information), as it would act against the club & therefore the fans best interests, if other clubs became alerted & stepped in to scupper a transfer that was lined up. Therefore running with stories coming from other clubs is fine The speculation is what fills our time during the non football months, so is entertaining, but it's just as good when the club announces a signing that none of us saw coming

Foxes_Trust Posted 27 May 2011 Posted 27 May 2011 Yes, like a MASSIVE build up to an announcement for a friendly to boost ratings on a poor radio programme? Revealing that information is not going to mean we lose out on a transfer target, so no harm done. Also to be fair to both Rob & Ian they have been aware of things last season & been asked to keep them quiet by the club only for the information to come leaking out of the Thailand press which must be frustrating for them, as they aim to City fans the information first. Our impressions of both are far more positive than previous holders of their respective positions

Our impressions of both are far more positive than previous holders of their respective positions I'm not asking them for tidbits or rumours about transfers, as I don't want to lose out to another competitor by any means. Therefore both are doing a great job. I think what myself and others might be suggesting is that the approach to other matters Leicester, especially the extreme lack of objectivity that is supposed to be a crucial element of the license funded BBC. It is appreciated that being a fan is better than having no connection what so ever with the club, but to relate opinions to coerce listeners and fans into a way of thinking that is both inaccurate and unprofessional gets people VERY annoyed.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 May 2011 Posted 27 May 2011 Neither - Its all about that hunk David Bevan. He da man! Seriously, Fez's articles are always my first read.
