MikeyT Posted 1 June 2011 Posted 1 June 2011 Skipper Andy King believes loan star Kyle Naughton could build a career at Leicester City. The England Under-21 international has returned to Tottenham after an outstanding campaign which saw him voted young player of the year by both the club and the official supporters group. Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson would love to sign Naughton permanently, but knows City's failure to make the Premier League this season could weaken his hand and has expressed fears that he could miss out. King, himself a former City young player of the year, and named with Naughton in the PFA's championship team of the season, said: "Kyle will look back at the season and see it has been good for him and maybe he can build his future at this club. "We had good quality loanees from big clubs last season and they did well. You have only to look at Kyle." King knows that City are planning a summer spending spree in an all-out assault on the top flight next season. And, even as a virtual ever-present over the past three campaigns, he knows that no-one's place is guaranteed. "That is part and parcel of the game. There are very few players who go through a season playing all the games," he said. "There may be a squad rotation next season and I am sure, if it is done right, everyone will be happy." King also believes City will deal with the expectation of being tipped by many to realise their Premier dream next season. He said: "I think we will cope with the expectation. We have experienced players and the ones the manager might bring in are going to be quality, and together we want to reach the goal of promotion. "After Paulo Sousa left, we were always hopeful that we could get in the play-offs and we had that genuine chance. "Now the manager and his staff will look at things in the summer." Barnsley are expected to appoint Rochdale boss Keith Hill as their new manager today. Hill initially ruled himself out of the running, but reopened talks earlier this week and is poised to replace Mark Robins. The 42-year-old guided Rochdale to promotion from League Two in 2010. Then he took them to their joint highest position of ninth in League One last season. Former City player Robins quit at the end of the season.

He wont be coming here, I don’t even give it a 1% chance, Spurs need money so they will be selling, there would be 4-5 prem clubs at least interested I imagine. He would probably cost £5-6million and despite all the nonsense about unlimited finds I very much doubt we could afford that considering our highest transfer fee has been 250k over the last 9 months..

Sadly have to agree here Spurs are looking to buy some top quality players so as sven says, we may be priced out of signing Naughton. Where ever the lad ends up, wish him the best for the future.

Right now they have got corluka, hutton and kyle walker in front of naughton in the pecking order for RB at spurs. I think he knows he hasnt really got a future there, but i think we are too much of a step down for him. And we wont be able to pay 5/6 mil for him.

As I mentioned in another thread, Spurs are asking for inflated prices for all their player because of how much they paid for them. But I can't see anyone willing to pay £6M for Naughton. I know he's a fantastic player, but it's a lot of money for a player who is unproven in the Premiership. But I think that's me living in hope more than expectation...

Len Finsbury Posted 1 June 2011 Posted 1 June 2011 I wonder what we could have got him for before this season started. It's typical that a loan player excels and raises his profile and value. The same could be said when we signed Izzet. I'm sure he would have been even cheaper had he not had a successful loan spell with us. Naughton is one of those players that we can't lose on. He could be our first choice RB for years to come or we could get our money back should someone come in for him. It would be money well spent, I think. Depends on the ambition of the owners.
