FoxyPV Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I couldn't find a thread to cover this so I've created a catch all topic that will hopefully do us until the end of the season. After the capitulation/ heroics of Cardiff on the final day England now find themselves 18 - 2 after 6 overs in the first session of the second Test. . Strauss and Trott (player of the year award was the kiss of death)
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Test cricket the best form of cricket 2-21 but Cook will probably ton up
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Was a good catch but Cook is still there Looking foward to Windies v India series starts tomorrow but rain is forcast for the first couple of days.
Fosse Boy Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 All wickets sounded soft from what I've read. Out of interest do you follow a Test side Foxy, or are you just a neutral observer?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Five runs in two innings so far for Pietersen. Had he been playing any cricket before the series started? Does he have a county yet? Hasn't been any good for 18 months apart from that great ton against us <_<
FoxyPV Posted 3 June 2011 Author Posted 3 June 2011 All wickets sounded soft from what I've read. Out of interest do you follow a Test side Foxy, or are you just a neutral observer? Generally I'd mainly listen to/ watch the England matches (convenience sake) but mainly a neutral observer.
Corky Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 He plays for Surrey, don't know if he's played this season.
Bert Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Had he been playing any cricket before the series started? Does he have a county yet? Hasn't been any good for 18 months apart from that great ton against us <_< Double ton Hopefully he's getting his shit form out of the way before India.
purpleronnie Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Been pretty dull cricket today. Hopefully the irishman will start smashing them about a bit, wake the crowd up.
Corky Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 We've got a special player in Cook. Played nearly 70 Tests and is still only 26, with 10 more years of international cricket still to come.
FoxyPV Posted 3 June 2011 Author Posted 3 June 2011 Didn't hear/ see the last couple of hours. Came in to see a pretty respectable score 342 -6. Prior, Bell and Morgan steadying the ship. If England hit 400+ (as I would expect them to do), I can't see the Lankans reaching that total.
Fosse Boy Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Been pretty dull cricket today. Hopefully the irishman will start smashing them about a bit, wake the crowd up. You know which ground they're playing at - right Ron?
Alexikokopops Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I watched most of this at work (with a break for the Murray match). First three wickets were soft. I could not believe that Cook top edged the pull so close to 100. I'd gone to the pub by the time Morgan got out, but he put in a good shift.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 We've got a special player in Cook. Played nearly 70 Tests and is still only 26, with 10 more years of international cricket still to come. Hes average is improving too. He probably doesn't get the accolades as much as some plays because he isn't flashy but does what ever good oppener should do, be patient and value your wicket.
Corky Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 486 all out, Finn and Tremlett added 34 for the last wicket. Great first session of the day.
ScouseFox Posted 4 June 2011 Posted 4 June 2011 Finally, Paranavitana gone to Finn, caught in the slips. 207/1.
FoxyPV Posted 4 June 2011 Author Posted 4 June 2011 It was the highest opening partnership Sri Lanka have ever had at Lords after 50 runs . Fairly smashed that record then.
