i can still see a draw. this bottom order isnt like sri lanka. they wont buckle.

But the Indian tail all like to play shots, so there should be plenty of chances. Don't forget there's a new ball due in just over 10 overs as well.

true. how many hours left? 4? i dont see it. personally. they will be told to defend. a draw to them is more important than going for a world record. remember what we did in the (gonna guess at the date) 2006 ashes when our bottom 2 just played defend all afternoon?

I would be very dissapointed if we couldnt bowl out the Indian tail with 40 overs left on a day 5 pitch, being able to put 5 men round the bat and a new ball due......Harbajhan can play some shots but Praveen, Zaheer and Ishant shouldnt be stuck around for too long.

2009 I think you're thinking of. However, that was Collingwood who dug us out that day.

They may well be told to defend, but with arguably the best pace attack in world cricket throwing the new nut at them, it's just not that simple.

It's going to be an interesting end, whatever happens.

Great stuff.

Lost the toss, put in on a horrid morning, declared twice, skittled them for less than 300 twice.....

This is some team we have. Now one test from being officially the best in the world. :chant::chant::trumpet::beer:

**** me Broad's fairly pulled it out of the bag. Have to applaud him for this.

Man of the match for me...

74 runs and 7 wickets. He had 3 catches dropped and 2 plumb LBW decisions waved away...

I for one, wanted him dropped.. Humble pie tastes better with victory...

A lot of players contributed to this victory.

Anderson finally found form on the last day and did fantastically well to get five wickets when batting conditions were at their best.

Pietersen finally produced a big innings on English soil and deserved his MotM award.

Broad gave an excellent all-round performance which revived comparisons with Freddie Flintoff.

And Prior put the issues from his previous Lord's appearance with two excellent innings, the second one when India were briefly on top for the only time in the game.

Dravid apart, India didn't do themselves justice and were made to pay for their lack of match fitness, though they would have been a lot more competitive had Zaheer stayed fit. But they'll be boosted by Sehwag's return at Trent Bridge.

There could be a few more twists and turns in this series, which is already shaping up to be the most compelling in England since the 2005 Ashes.

I'm not a fan of him at all but his performance over this test has been beyond reproach with both ball and bat.

He also showed incredible restraint during one tense over when Raina was dropped in the covers and then, next ball, Billy Bowden somehow missed the most blatant of LBWs.

Hopefully he'll maintain that mature attitude and continue to improve throughout the series.

Broad's maturity was really good to see. He had a go at Pietersen for giving away overthrows but apart from that was calm and took everything in his stride.

He has all the attributes to be a top player and composure when things don't go his way will help him develop.

Spot on, after years of being 2nd best we can now hopefully secure another win and rightfully claim the Number One Test Spot. :chant:
