-MaTaN- Posted 21 June 2011 Author Posted 21 June 2011 Well Masilela is reported to have talks with teams from France, Italy, Spain (possibly Betis) and England. if he choose City i'm sure Sven is about to build up a great team.
Guest parky0607 Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 kingfox, no offence but how can you say you prefer english players or football, did you watch the world cup / U21s tournament / every other dismal friendly we've played in of late? The real talent in football is coming from further afield these days.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 I look it at like this. Masilela has World Cup and Champions League experience as well as extensive first team run-outs whereas Cunningham and van Aanholt had very limited first team experience for their respective clubs. Which is more of an unknown quantity I ask? It's hardly as if Yuki Abe, coming from an environment even further removed than Masilela would be coming from, has been a flop.
dimmerchant Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 I don't think you can bracket a player like this with the likes of Kaebi etc. I think it all comes down to the management. Could be wrong but I'd imagine Sven's done much more research on the foreign players we're approaching than Mad Dog Allen ever did on those he brought in. I also assume that Sven has a nice little master plan and knows the role of every player he brings in, and will only bring in those he feels will add something. Not just sign a player because of their name. If his scouts and backroom staff think this guy is good enough, I reckon he's good enough. I like his name aswell.
Charnwood Norris Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 What is it with Sven and muscular black men?

So there are other teams interested? do we have a good chance of getting him??

One of the main problems last season in the defence was a lack of experience. On paper this seems like an absolute steal.
tylesta Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 I just have an opinion that foreign signings in my view can be risky, when there is better players we can get from Premier League and Championship level, some won't agree like the person who told me to jog on but everyone has an opinion. I would prefer someone who we have all seen play, like the players we have been linked with so far like Schmeichel, Konchesky, Maynard, Nugent, Eagles and Peltier(who we have now signed) fans know about those players and know that they are very good but when some African, South African, South American player that hardly anybody has heard of appears on the radar I just feel disappointed of the fact we can buy better. We brought in Cunningham and Van Aanholt two decent youngsters, then you have players like Bertrand and Konchesky who we have seen week in week out do a very good job in the Premiership and Championship. I just have an opinion on foreign signings, some can be ok then some can be a disaster like Kermit the frog, Hellings and Kaebi. peltier aint a proven championship player
AdamN Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 What is it with Sven and muscular black men? I hope he doesn't stop until we have the biggest, blackest team in the Championship. Just imagine an absolute battering ram of a team containing Yakubu, Heskey, Martins, Elokobi, Samba, Bamba...
Swissberly Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 Maybe a more sturdy Sol Bamba. Would welcome this guy I hope he doesn't stop until we have the biggest, blackest team in the Championship. Just imagine an absolute battering ram of a team containing Yakubu, Heskey, Martins, Elokobi, Samba, Bamba...
