Baggsies the first youtube clip! Pretty handy...is it leftback? with a good cross.

You may want to mute the music!

If I hadn't fannied about watching 20 minutes worth of video footage of him that could have been me

But seriously, watching the one of his defensive side looks quite impressive too, likes to get the tackle in.

Can only go by the stats but he did weigh in with 13 assists in the 09/10 season and sounds as though he's been something of an ever present for Maccabi Haifa since he joined. Apparently he has a bit of pace too and the stats suggest he likes to get forward.

How anyone can say he is brilliant or awful is beyond me. I wouldn't mind betting that Matan is just about the only person on this forum who knows the first thing about Masilela or has seen him play in the flesh.

Well this guy is one of the main reasons why we conceded only 8 goals in our CL campaign, against teams like Bayren, Juva and Bordeaux. you can decided for youself, i think this guy is on an higher level then the championship level.

I'd like to see proven Championship players but I trust Sven in his judgement of players..

Its a risk but you have to see them properly to judge them and also they will no doubt be cheaper as well!

I hate using wiki as my source but

"He signed a four year contract with Maccabi Haifa on August 31, 2007."

Free signing on deadline day?

I just have an opinion that foreign signings in my view can be risky, when there is better players we can get from Premier League and Championship level, some won't agree like the person who told me to jog on but everyone has an opinion.

I would prefer someone who we have all seen play, like the players we have been linked with so far like Schmeichel, Konchesky, Maynard, Nugent, Eagles and Peltier(who we have now signed) fans know about those players and know that they are very good but when some African, South African, South American player that hardly anybody has heard of appears on the radar I just feel disappointed of the fact we can buy better.

We brought in Cunningham and Van Aanholt two decent youngsters, then you have players like Bertrand and Konchesky who we have seen week in week out do a very good job in the Premiership and Championship.

I just have an opinion on foreign signings, some can be ok then some can be a disaster like Kermit the frog, Hellings and Kaebi.

His contract end in 2012, that's why Maccabi wants to sell him now and gain some profit.

But at some point most players are someone nobodies ever heard of!!

You're telling me that you'd heard of Cunningham and seen enough of him to say you'd prefer him to someone off the continent?

If you seen and heard about Cunningham you knew he was highly regarded.

But so was McGivern... :(

I just prefer players who are proven at Championship level that's all and my opinion has been like that for ages.

Proven Championship players are out of our price range, look at the price of Maynard, Graham and Morison for example. Teams in our league are going to rip us off, but British players are overpriced beyond belief anyway. You only have to look at Andy Carrol and Jordan Henderson, absolute comedy prices for average footballers in my opinion.

You're less likely to get ripped off buying someone from abroad, and you never know they might be able to pass a ball too.

I've seen plenty of shit English players at Leicester, it's probably no riskier than any other signing.

But that's the irony of the point you're trying to make. Cunningham wasn't proven at any level. Being in a reserve team is a whole world away in terms of quality to be being in a first team in the championship.

And as you point out, McGivern was just as highly rated. So I guess what you're actually saying is that most signings are a risk?

Signing Premiership youngsters can be risky. You will have had no idea who Cunningham was before he started playing for us. The same can be said of Ben Mee - who had never made a competitive start. Luckily for us, both of them did a decent job. So why can't "some South African player" do the same? What exactly are you trying to point out?

From a financial point of view it's less risky to go abroad as transfer fees will be less compared to top English talent here. But to compare the quality of players when you haven't even seen the guy play is a little harsh.

Your comparison is therefore irrelevant.

Are you Alan Young in disguise?

It's a gamble bringing in players like these but the benefits if they work out can be very good.

I'd rather pay £1 mill for a nobody who has the potential to turn into a £5 - 10 mill star, than £5 mill for somone who everyone knows how well they can play with little prospect

I think it's great scouting and research if decent players can be picked out like this. (providing they are successful) good job sven

Can do better simple as that.

Have you ever seen him play? he is far better than anything we could snap up from this league! a real trooper too! I would be more than happy with this signing!
