There is no place for that talk in any sport. He’s done himself no favours by making those kind of comments. His media team need replacing!

Do you actually think that there are no guys wanting to kill their opponent in the ring? Or do you have a problem with him being vocal about it?

Mike Tyson said worse things but he is considered one of the greats to ever play the sport.

Do you think guys hold back when they are shooting their best shots into the opponent's body? of course not! If he follows the rules and do nothing illegal and kill a man, people can blame him surely. Those men knew what they are walking into. The moment people stop acting like fighters can't be killed in the ring the better.

He should be panelized for what he said because it will create bad publicity (especially in this day and age) and fighters who are afraid to be hurt will dodge him but that's the skeleton in the closet for boxing. acting like men can't be killed considering the brutality of the sport. and you can't tell fighters to punch lighter. IMO, he (wilder) doesn't have the freakish KO power to kill high-level fighters from his weight class but who knows, a guy drops his guard for a sec and wilder goes all in for a liver shot and it could mean night night for the other poor man.

I can’t remember anyone saying they would like a death on their record so they can where it like a badge of honour, it’s a dangerous sport and there will be serious injury and fatality but setting a death on your record as a target is just bizarre, really. But this is all just failed publicity. this is the same man who said prior to the Ortiz fight he says a prayer for himself and one in hope his opponent gets to go back to his family at the end of the fight. I don’t think he actually believes that.

Talk before a fight can get out of hand between two fighters I presume you are talking about the eat his children comment from Tyson and there are many more examples but it’s context. He’s not trying to put anyone one person off here he’s making a general comment that he’d like to end someone’s life in the ring which is unacceptable in my eyes but there we are. You will no doubt argue like you always do.

Evil scary creatures

lol I got 5 cats. 1 almost 5 years old, 1 less than a year and 3 newborns and I don't get why people hate them. Do they look evil with the way they look at people? Or is it the movie about the dogs vs cats and the cats are the evil ones and the fact that most evil characters have a cat as a pet (those movies are biased and an obvious propaganda). Granted they are not as loyal as dogs but if you treat them well they won't have a problem. They are more like people imo. Dogs are more like a companion that stands by your side as long as you give them a pat once in a while. well, different strokes for different folks.

Well, there you go. Like i said before, he doesn't have the freakish power to one-hit kill a guy and he's doing this to get some recognition from some certain individuals or like you said, publicity.

I didn't say that it's OK to kill someone or craving a kill on your record and wearing it as a badge of honor. but the risk is part of the sport and that's my point. He's not bringing a gun or a switchblade to the ring. Do I think that he's just talking shite? yes. but do I think that there are some crazy fighters who want to do that but aren't vocal? absolutely! (which again is my point). I said that he should be penalized because of what he said and it doesn't matter if he believes in what he said or it's just an act.

I didn’t say you did but that is what wilder has said in public and whether he actually meant it or not you can’t say things like that.

I really don’t think any boxer wants to see another die I’d like to think there’s too much mutual respect if nothing else, but apparently perhaps not. We shall see, hopefully he apologises but like everything else wilder this doesn’t seem to have gotten much coverage.

Youve missed my point. He and other boxers can think what they like, it’s the aim of the sport to knock the other fućker out, but to publicly come out and say that he wants to hit somebody so hard that it kills them, that shít should be kept INSIDE his head.

Tbf, upon reflection, he has got a point ...   I can remember Jimmy Greaves saying that every time he played he wanted to break someones legs so that they could never walk properly again ..  and then there was Billy Beaumont, the England rugby captain, who stated that all he ever really wanted to do was to gouge a players eyes out in the scrum and leave them blind ....     and lets not forget Nico Rosberg, who admitted to a local journalist that every time he gets behind the wheel his lifelong ambition would be to force another driver off the track and hope he burnt to death ..  he also added that if he had a wife and children that would make it even better ...   its a funny old world ...

Doesn't mean it or not ...   he shouldn't have said it ...  tbh I don't know how anyone can defend the cvnt.

What a fookin role model for the sport.

I get your point but it's all too common and the moral or decency in the sport is a all time low, so low people like myself just think it's a load of bull and goes over my head.

I'm thinking of younger and more impressionable followers of the sport Doc ...   you and me see it for the sh1te it is ...   but what about them ...   and the families of boxers who have died in the ring ...

You saying I'm old? :revenge:

Agreed mate, I wish in sports as a whole, the moral counter is a all time low, you see effing and jeffing everywhere without any real reason.

Yep its low alright ..  but what Mr Wilder has done ..  a man who is at the top of his sport, a sport that has given him so much, and everything he says or does is followed by millions, is so fvckin wrong ...   If I was in charge for the day I would lock him up for 2 months so he could reflect on it.

It’s more his comments about Artur Spzpilka that really did it for me, it’s like his implying not killing him was some sort of missed opportunity.
