Rangers- Respect

Yeh kill so we don't have to kill ourselves!

Would you clap the firefighters who are ex forces?!

yes because they are out there saving lifes.

While the armed forces do deserve some respect for the job they do, I don't understand why we as a society seem to revere our armed forces. Certainly those in the world wars who fought to protect our country and way of life deserve this level of respect but the modern day armed forces who arguably fight, not to protect us, but to serve our governments greed and fear.

They've killed thousands of Iraqi's and afghans but these countries hadn't wronged us, there wasn't even any proof they were preparing anything against us and yet we invaded and killed for no good reason.

Don't get me wrong, some current and recent servicemen deserve the respect they recieve but, as a whole, the armed forces doesn't deserve the level of respect which we show them.

Yeah, go and slaughter badly trained, poorly equiped Iraqis, just in case they roll up and try and invade in their ironclads (that we sold 'em.)

God, I feel safer knowing they're out there. Nothing can harm me now!

... what? My house is what? BURNING?

Bwaaaaaaahahahhahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahhahshkjah;dhsaFHfdsa. That last line just really tickled me.

Indeed. I observe, with utmost reverance and respect, all things that honour the lives given to save Europe from fascism.

But applauding contemporary soldiers for doing a job they WANTED to do? Why exactly?

I mean that lad that single handedly saved a post from a whole unit of enemies recently and was awarded a medal for it? Hero. The bloke a few years ago that jumped on a grenade to save his mates? Hero. Don't get me wrong, that's worthy of a round of applause. But branding every soldier as a hero and treating them as if they're sacred? No thanks.

I'm going to let you post for me by proxy from now on. I was just going to be really obnoxious and post this:

I'd much, MUCH rather see firefighters and emergency medical staff commended than the armed forces, personally.

I'd happily stand up and applaud them.

Bollocks.

Teachers.

They should invite teachers to walk around the pitch so people can say "sorry we got all our facts wrong about the strike and swallowed Tory lies like Marc Almond allegedly swallowed spunk."

Yes.

And that still wouldn't make up for it.

For those that need it explaining, he's talking about the first Gulf War but ultimately all of that can be applied to the most recent conflict also.

"Cool! What's G13 do?!"

lol I love that you're still on one. I can hear WIfes Net assembling it's forces now.

Quality, enjoyed that.

Always had a soft spot for Rangers, went to a Celtic Rangers cup final a few years ago, Celtic fans really behaved like vermin.

Celtic are vermin.

Can't believe that clubs are copying that 'just can't get enough' that they sing. Hope they don't decide to sing their other songs

out the thread, now.

Rangers are just as bad as celtic for the sectarian stuff.

Aw but, man, the Fields of Athenry is just so relevant to Leicester City!

Rangers can sing what they want when they're opposing a team that

1. Sings songs supporting the IRA scum

2. Refuse to recognise Remembrance Sunday

Rangers supporters (and past players) DEFINITELY DON'T have strong links to loyalist paramilitaries nor do they sing songs venerating the death of catholics nor do they have strong links to the Orange Order which if its victims of hate were of different colour of skin it would have be banned years ago.

Wise up to yourself. Both sets of fans are as bad as each other, it just depends on which side of the fence you sit on as to which ones you think are worse.

No doubt they both have bad eggs, we all know that.

In my experience of going to watch them Celtic are far worse though. Had the misfortune of being in Manchester as well when 200 of them were stood outside drinking near the Arndale centre chanting "This is where we planted the bomb" :(

Weren't in Manchester when the Huns ransacked the place and nearly killed a copper though?

Rangers fans have a record of doing that all over Europe.

Haven't they got to play a European game behind closed doors as a result of their behaviour last season?

Sectarian singing, something Rangers seemed to get pulled up more than Celtic when you see the Hearts game last season...

as unsavioury as it was I think me and you have a different definition of a "vicious assault".....

Of course it doesn't, but it's pretty pathetic to pick up on an incident of Celtic fans causing havoc in Manchester without mentioning what the Huns have done there as well...

Both teams have idiots, it's fact and from what I saw in the Old Firm, Rangers were worse for it. This is probably because it was at Parkhead though and I was in a, well, pretty timid area of the ground and that the Rangers away support is probably made up of the more 'hardcore' lads. I don't doubt that I would've probably came away with a different opinion had the game been at the Bigot Dome.

I take it you weren't aware of what led up to that? Plus it didn't look like the stewards were 'attacked'.

A fan running at Neil Lennon trying to assault him wasnt it?

Any other excuses?

No dont think they were attacking anybody actually, probably just a bit anxious to get something before the kiosk closed.

(I presume you have watched it to 2.56 where the Celtic fan in the black jumps down the stairs and actually kicks a steward?):rolleyes:

Blimey really, looked like very little, but theres more to it, and fans were pretty much sticking up for eachother on a night where they were targeted, I'm not saying their angels but it seems any incident involving celtic is either exaggerated or recieves more attention that if it happend elsewhere.
