Guest Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Savage also kissed the Birmingham badge when he played against us! Grade A clown! So he gives his all to all his teams. That was why the Leicester fans loved him so much and whilst he was at Leicester every other team's fans hated him. I seem to remember Oakley showed his love for the sheep when he was there.

I just don't think Savage has any respect for the fact that we gave him his first big break, I hate it when players kiss the badge anyway, but to do it against your old club where he was well liked just makes him a moron. Oakley doing that is totally different to what i'm saying about Savage really.
Guest Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Fair enough. I'm just saying that Savage gave us more than Oakley IMHO.
Simo86 Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Fair enough. I'm just saying that Savage gave us more than Oakley IMHO. Yeah course he did, he was in probably the best midfield i've ever seen us play with
Blinking Blue Owl Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 If you think Savage was probably the best midfielder you ever saw play for us you need to see a lot more games !
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 If you think Savage was probably the best midfielder you ever saw play for us you need to see a lot more games ! Not quite what he said mate, he said he was IN the best midfield
Simo86 Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Not quite what he said mate, he said he was IN the best midfield Thanks for pointing that out for me pal I've only been a season ticket holder for 17 years. I best start getting to more games
Guest Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 What's the best midfield setup you think you've seen? I'd say Lennon, Muzzy and Sav was one of the best I've seen over the years, liked Wilson, Supermac and ? based midfields too. Thinking about it the 70's midfields were pretty decent even though I didn't like Jon sammels he played in some good midfield partnerships.
Mr Happy Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Oakley has never been anything special. Peopel can go on about nice guy or loyal, but its all a load of crap. He like 99% of pro sports people is loyal to his paycheck, & I don't blame him. As a player Oakley never pulled up any trees at LCFC, I can say he looked committed in the odd challenge, but that has been outweighed by lacklustre performances especially in the championship, where midfield dominence is very important, Oakley finds himself more often than not beaten by a younger more tenacious midfielder. LCFC are hopefully moving in a different direction to Oakley, Were off up the table & Matt might be off to derby What with Danns being signed, Moussa and Kermo's return and already King, Wellens and Abe here that puts Oakley down in the pecking order. I say if Derby want him and are willing to offer us any money then get rid... while their at it send Howard with him too, i'll personally give them both a piggy back there
Rusko187 Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Savage also kissed the Birmingham badge when he played against us! Grade A clown! I knew there was a reason why I was singing "Leicester Reject" to him whilst he was busy with an interview.

Sven likes Oakley. Plus Moussa and Kermo are both attacking players whereas Oakley is used in the holding role.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 .... get rid... while their at it send Howard with him too, i'll personally give them both a piggy back there No chance mate. Don't you know Steve Oakley scored 4 the other day???

How could I forget that Got a mate whose a derby fan, every chance he gets he reminds me of how much both these players are legends to his club. So hearing a rumour one or the other could be heading back there doesn't and wouldn't surprise me tbh.
I am Rod Hull Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 So Oakley isnt Ronaldo... The next time he plays, boo him... I seriously think "we" Leicester City, have some of the worst fans in the country...
Bettsy82 Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 I never really liked oakley and his attitude at derby away when pearson was here was shocking. But am i the only one who thinks he looks a completely different player under sven. towards the back end of last season when he was playing the holding role in midfield he was by far our best performer. I still think he has a part to play next season.
eaststandtom Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 didnt he clap the derby fans as he was being substituted?
Bettsy82 Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Yeh he clapped all three stands that the derby fans were sitting in and ignored the leicester fans. i wouldnt have minded but he was by far the worst player on the pitch that day and even Savage was playing !!!!!
eaststandtom Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 well, he was well regarded there so fair play to him for clapping them. nothing wrong with that. not clapping city fans, ok, perhaps he should but he isnt well regarded here generally and probably was a moment were his professionalism slipped, momentarily. to be fair though i am surprised he doesnt give a two fingered salute to some of the crowd more often given the stick he gets unjustifiably i feel. whatever he does or however he plays, and lets face it he is past his best, without him in the league one season we would have not got promoted that season. that season was so vital and his role was of absolute ****ing paramount importance in getting this club out of the shit. so, if he decided to ignore city fans cos some of them were giving him a hard time then i hardly blame him.
Bettsy82 Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Fair comment ! under sven he looks excellent and I wouldnt sell him to be honest you are right in the div 1 season he was good and chipped in with some goals. his position is holding midfield no question and in my opinion he has a massive part to play this season coming off the bench if we are winning and protecting our lead as our anchorman.

Craig Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Pearson and Sousa asked Oakley to play roles (i.e. winger) that he wasn't comfortable playing. This wasn't due to a lack of desire or effort, but due to the condition of his knees from the injuries he's received throughout his career, most notably in 2003 with Middlesbrough. Sven, however, has put him in a role where a lot less is asked of him physically. In games where we get a bit more time on the ball he can be superb. I actually thought he put in a lot more effort than most of our other players towards the end of last season too. I'd keep him. He's decent back up, and a good role model for the kids. So what, he didn't clap us at Derby... I wouldn't have clapped us either. I felt embarrassed to be a Leicester fan in that away end due to the stick he was getting that day.
