Adster Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_7046393,00.html Skysports.com understands Derby are in talks with Leicester midfielder Matt Oakley about a return to Pride Park.Leicester are thought to be willing to offload the 33-year-old as they look to trim their squad ahead of the new season. Derby have expressed an interest in bringing Oakley back to club as Nigel Clough looks to bolster his midfield options. Talks between both clubs are thought to be at an advanced stage and Derby are hoping to tie up the deal as soon as possible. Experienced midfielder Oakley spent two years at Derby before making the move to Leicester in 2008.
Happy Fox Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Let him go to the bloody sheep shaggers where he will be idolized by their fans
Lcfclee Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Hooray good bye do you want help packing your bags or directions
Narborough_fox Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Rather lose him than Abe but at the end of last season he showed what he could do but little to late to win over the fans after 2 years of average performances.
MikeyT Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 People forget he's been a decent servant to this club. He may have not always played particularly well, especially in the latter part of him being here. People can be very harsh. He's done alright for us in his time here in my view.
MPH Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 tried hard, showed good experience and leadership... but the right time to move on. All the Best , Matt
manfromuncles Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Surely a backward step though. Still, if we can get a fee for him it wouldn't be too bad a deal.
kingfox Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Seems just about done going by that article. Not too bad at all, he seems to like Derby has played some good games for us but a mediocre player the last couple of season's. We have Danns, Wellens, King, Abe, Moussa and rumoured Hargreaves and Colback on the radar. Oakley is getting on and this move is right for both clubs.
StevieLCFC Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Never rated him anyway.. Who's gonna be the new captain then? King? Don't bite my head off if it's already been decided..
Happy Fox Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7008 They love him
Criggers Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Never rated him anyway.. Who's gonna be the new captain then? King? Don't bite my head off if it's already been decided.. Think King is captain already and Oakley is vice captain.
StevieLCFC Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Think King is captain already and Oakley is vice captain. Well in that case, who will be the new vice-captain? Wouldn't mind it being Schmeichel..
Simo86 Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Well in that case, who will be the new vice-captain? Mills would be a good candidate
Darkon84 Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Never rated him anyway.. Who's gonna be the new captain then? King? Don't bite my head off if it's already been decided.. Enter Matt Mills
Happy Fox Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 If he does go to Dierby I wonder what type of reception he will receive at the Walkers on October 1st 2011, will he be vilified in Savagesque manner
StevieLCFC Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Enter Matt Mills Ahhhh, OF COURSE!! Matt Mills would be great as vice-captain. Oh, it's gonna be a good season!
Haydos Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 If he does go to Dierby I wonder what type of reception he will receive at the Walkers on October 1st 2011, will he be vilified in Savagesque manner Anything but a warm round of applause would be slightly odd IMO.
Simo86 Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 If he does go to Dierby I wonder what type of reception he will receive at the Walkers on October 1st 2011, will he be vilified in Savagesque manner I wouldn't boo him, i'd probably give him a clap as he helped us get out of league 1!
StevieLCFC Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Anything but a warm round of applause would be slightly odd IMO. Exactly, it's not like he's leaving for more money or anything.. he would hardly play this season if he stayed and he's no spring chicken! Warm round of applause would be fine. Oh, who's that lady in your profile picture? USA goalie by any chance?
VampLCFC Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Are we gonna get a bit of cash for him? £500,000 maybe??
