loAf Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Alright guys (and girls), just spotted this in the local rag out here (Bahrain), and wondered if anyone had any messages they wanted me to pass on to him. Bahrains f'in tiny, so am bound to bump into him sooner or later in the pub or 'Briit Club' and recon I may have some choice words about his time here! http://www.gulf-daily-news.com/ArchiveNewsDetails.aspx?date=07/14/2011&storyid=309825 Taylor named national team coach By PATRICK SALOMON , Posted on » Thursday, July 14, 2011 THE Bahrain Football Association (BFA) yesterday signed Englishman Peter John Taylor as the new senior men's national team head coach. This was confirmed last night by BFA coordinator and follow-up director Hassan Ismail. Taylor penned a two-year contract with the BFA in a private meeting. He is set to be formally unveiled as Bahrain's new coach at a Press conference in the coming days. Ismail told the GDN that the BFA is very pleased to have secured a coach of Taylor's calibre. He fills in a role that has been left vacant for several weeks, following the end of Bahrain's contract with former national team head Salman Shareeda. Taylor is set to be the third Englishman to coach the kingdom's senior men's football squad. He follows in the footsteps of Jack Mansell and Keith Burkinshaw, who had coached the national team in the 1970s and '80s, respectively. It is hoped that Taylor will help fill the huge void left by the departure of popular Czech tactician Milan Macala, who nearly steered Bahrain to the South Africa Fifa World Cup last year. Since Macala's exit in mid-2010, Bahrain has struggled in their search for a worthy replacement, first signing Austrian Josef Hickersberger, who eventually quit after just four months at the helm, and then opting to sign Shareeda in the interim. Taylor, now aged 58, is a former national team player for England and was once the caretaker manager of the country's senior men's team. He was also twice the coach of their under-21 squad. Taylor has also held the top coaching post at several English clubs, most recently at Bradford City, which he had stepped down from earlier this year.
davieG Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 He's got FA to do with LCFC so don't infest that forum with him.
ozleicester Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 "Fook off you coont" pretty much covers it for me
Zingari Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 How does he continue to get jobs? His Norman Wisdom impressions get them rolling around everytime
Wycombe Fox Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 I wonder how long it'll be before he announces Junior Lewis as his love child assistant
danlcfc4ever Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Try and sell him a picture of Ade Akinbiyi, tell him its shit and not worth much... I'm sure he will still buy it for a fortune.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 I literally have no idea how he keeps getting employed. Since the debacle he was responsible for here, he's only experienced success at Brighton and Hull and has failed everywhere else. Ah well, Junior Lewis will love it here.
Wymsey Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Shouldn't of been employed as a manager in the first place.
accessory Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 As long as he stays out there for a very long time...
21st Century Fox Posted 20 October 2012 Posted 20 October 2012 Former England interim coach Peter Taylor was sacked by Bahrain on Friday after spending 15 months in charge. "It's the federation that have decided to change because recent results have not been good," said the former Leicester City boss who led England for one game against Italy in 2000. Taylor told Reuters that recent defeats were the result of the players not being match fit because of the lack of league matches. He denied that political strife in Bahrain had affected performance. "Some players have good talent but some players need to be stronger, they need to work on the physical side as well as the football side," he added. Bahrain, who have never reached a World Cup and are ranked 115th, were knocked out of 2014 Asian World Cup qualifying in the third round.
