They know there's going to be a sellout, surely you stock up on a few more than they'd usually sell? I got there about 45 minutes early and all the stands had been closed, sounds like they didn't even anticipate a higher demand. Anyway, back to the topic, will they be selling them in the megastore? I'm not spending £7 on a programme from the website. Surely they should offer free postage seeing as it's their fault we missed out. Robbing gets.

Fox92 Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 As soon as I got home from the Real Madrid match, I looked on eBay and people were selling them. The programmes had bids on as well. I'm just pleased I got one at the game.

There were two people selling them at one of the kiosks by the Fanstore and I still had to queue. They only had just over one box left and it was only just after 4pm. Given that this was a glamour-friendly fixture, it stood to reason that the programme would in the years to come, inevitably become a collectable item and I was somewhat surprised but pleased to find that the price was still £3. As I write, there are currently nine programmes on ebay with bidding running at £7-50 plus p+p. Could be a snip! Some of my programmes from the sixties have been professionally valued at £250 plus.

You know on the back of the Real Madrid programme, it gave a description of the Real players. Will this happen every game, or was it just because they were International, World Class footballers?

I think i've got most (if not all) of the programmes for league games at the "stadium" (whatever its name), including the one with me on the front!! I definaltley saw the 3-page-thick Athletico Bilbao programme there aswell - That has to be worth something already

Apart from the colouring section for two year olds (how could they invite someone to deface an LCFC programme????), I thought they were pretty good. Can't imagine they'll be like that all season though. 9/10 chaps, well done.

demon_dog Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I agree that selling out of these way before the game was a joke. I ordered mine online on Sunday and collected them from the club shop today. Total cost £3.00 each. Anyone who bid on EBay should do as I did, it's cheaper!

Or, using a slightly more grown-up perspective, the club didn't saddle itself with thousands of unsold copies of a magazine no one will buy. For the life of me, this is just another pathetic bitch-fest by a bunch of people who (if they really gave a fvck) should have got to the ground earlier. There are fundamental issues affecting the club but you all focus on the frippery and ignore the major stuff in your quest for reflected glory. Well done.

Not sure what you mean by a slightly grown up perpective Daggers! I'm in my late fifties, so I hope I am grown up by now. I was simply trying to point out that it's not rocket science to realise that when you have for the first time in ages a sell out crowd, against such a high profile team, that it makes sense to ensure more programmes are available. This did not seem to be the case. As for getting to the ground earlier, what difference would that have made? Do we go quarter of an hour, half an hour, one hour or whatever earlier? I for one do not know how many programmes are available, so what can you do? As a season ticket holder for many years I know that programmes are normally available right until the start and even during the game. They never usually sell out. I was simply trying to point out that in my opinion there was lack of foresight by the club regarding programme sales. How naive of me to not expect the same! As for the club possibly being saddled with maybe thousands of unsold copies, it's cheaper to do a longer print run, than to have to order extra's after the event. (Which I'm glad they did) Still maybe we'll forget about the frippery as you put it and concentrate on the business in hand. That is firstly getting in a striker that we all (if you are a regular loyal fan) know we badly need. Also ensuring that for the first time ever we beat Coventry at the Ricoh stadium on Saturday.
