The Striker Situation

Before anybody has a go at me, I fully support Sven and the players hes bought to the club but I feel slightly let down by the situation regarding a striker. The defence has been sorted out and we now have real quality there. In january sven identified the need for a goalscorer and found yakubu who did score goals but only on loan. We had the chance to turn this into a permanent deal but refused to pay the wages. We then chased Maynard but never offered the cash to get him. We jumped on the Shane Long bandwagon too late despite claiming he was a target for the whole summer. We made one bid for JTS but gave up after it was rejected. We now have a situation where we're scratching around for a striker and have RK seemingly as our only target( i dont know this but thats as it appears). Its looking like we should have took Yakubu and paid the wages which would be worth it if weve got PL football next year. Sven keeps saying we're trying and talking but I see no actions. If maynard ends up at Soton then questions will have to be asked. In this fiasco we a appear to have shot Waghorn so now our only real CF option is Nugent who although is very good as a player he wont score 20+ goals.

Defoe did however say a couple of weeks back he wanted a loan move if he didnt play the first few games, maybe we're waiting on that

"Scratching around"............"Questions will have to be asked " ?

You sound like a very young person with no patience, and like making a mountain out of a mole hill, where can you see a fiasco? we got 2 strikers that have scored 3 goals or more in a game over the last couple of weeks, chill out

People are obsessed with a new striker but we bought one in Nugent. If we can find another one permanently before August then great. If we can't then we'll loan a PL striker who isn't getting in. I don't think we'll pay over the odds for a domestic based striker. Keep calm, we've started the season steadily.

I want to move to the south, hopefully I will find a job and move down soon!!!

Sven has a massive list of strikers written on his cock, and has vowed not to rub it off via sex or bathing untill he has found his striking duo!!!

Allo! Allo! Allo! You hoping to come down here, to the South. Oh, for crying out loud, and just when I feel settled. Keep in touch, and let me know if and when this might be happening, so that I can move away from the area! lol lol

I haven't seen Schlupp, (probably like most others) but it would be unusual for someone who has started 1 game and only 19 to maintain form. I can see him playing some games but I think another striker will still be needed. A loan may now be our best option till the January window

who needs another Striker when we have Schlupp

for fook sake, ok he did well in league 1 last season and scored a hatrick against a league 2 team but i wish people would stop bumming him now. i hope he goes on to great things but hes only yound and it looks like all the 'fryatt bummers' have found a new love.

Jack Wilshire is only 19.

We all "think another striker will be needed " as you put it ....and it will happen .

Jeff Schlupp is a great prospect and that's about it - a great prospect, but I'm sure Sven will see his role as developmental this year, rather than expecting him to be the 20+ goal a season striker. He'll play in League Cup games and maybe on the bench, particularly at home, but for anyone who thinks he solves all our striking problems are dreaming.

I would be more than happy to see Robbie Keane play for city. In a team where he is gonna be a first choice striker I think he'd be superb for us.

Just seen extended highlights of yesterdays match... whilst video footage of players is a very limiting observation Schlupp looks an excellent prospect from what Ive seen!! Good old Sven for giving him a chance... Sven has a track record for encouraging youth... another good thing about him!

we have a very strong midfeild know, with fernandes, danns, abe, wellends

i just thought it might be worth giving king a chance in a more attacking role seing as he was top scorer for us last season i thought him and schluup as the two supporting nugent, and gally nd waggy ready for bench,

any one else like to see king given a chance closer to the top know our midfeild is so strong......????

16 goals last season from midfeild and seing as vassel is out might be worth a punt, if you look at all the good midfeild players around like gerrard etc most can play in behind the main man
