What's your record as a Leicester fan like?

After yesterdays dismal performance I felt the all too familiar feeling of spending alot of money and traveling a long way to go and watch my team play, only to, yet again, be left feeling extremely let down. I am sure that I must have one of the worst records as a Leicester fan or maybe even as a football fan who goes to watch the games, I just wasn't sure just how bad my record as a football fan is. Therefore, I decided to look back at all the games I've attended and put them into a spreadsheet to look at my record.

Admittedly it is sad, but I was curious. So, here goes:

2004/2005

Reading Away, FA Cup, won 2-1

My first ever Leicester game, this was the game that ensured that I was hooked on Leicester for the rest of my life (As if I wasn't already). 4,000 fans, electric atmosphere and coming back from a goal down to win 2-1 in the last minute.

Played: 1 Won: 1 Drawn: 0 Lost: 0 For: 2 Against: 1

2005/2006

Crewe Home, Drew 1-1

Played: 1 Won: 0 Drawn: 1 Lost: 0 For: 1 Against: 1

The following season, I started to have more of my own money and was old enough to start attending games on my own.

2006/2007

Crystal Palace Home 1-1, Aston Villa Home 2-3, Cardiff Home 0-0, Fulham Away 3-4, Coventry Home 3-0, Crystal Palace away 0-2

Played: 6 Won: 1 Drawn: 2 Lost: 3 For: 9 Against: 10

A mediocre season but three brilliant games against Villa, Fulham and Coventry.

2007/2008

Blackpool Home 0-1, Crystal Palace away 2-2, Charlton Away 0-2, Chelsea Away (League Cup) 3-4, QPR Away 1-3 , Southampton away FA Cup 0-2, Coventry Away 0-2, Southampton Away 0-1, Sheffield Wednesday Home 1-3

Played: 9 Won: 0 Drawn: 1 Lost: 9 For: 7 Against: 20

An absolutely terrible season, I'll never forget that night at Chelsea, being 3-2 up with 5 minutes to go. Other than that though, some truly shocking performances at Charlton, QPR, Southampton and Coventry.

However, the following season we stormed to the league one title and only lost 7 games, surely this year would be different!

2008/2009

Fulham Away (League Cup) 2-3, Crystal Palace away (FA Cup) 1-2, Peterborough Away 0-2

Played: 3 Won: 0 Drawn: 0 Lost: 3 For: 3 Against: 7

Yet another defeat in West London after an admirable performance and leading the game. Unfortunately I had very little money over this season and really did not pick my games very well lol.

2009/2010

Watford Away 3-3, Reading away 1-0 (Yes, there really was a time when we beat them in the league), QPR Away 2-1, Plymouth Away 1-1, Crystal Palace Away 1-0

Played: 5 Won: 3 Drawn: 2 Lost: 0 For: 8 Against: 5

My best season in terms of games attended by a mile. I'll never forget Nigel Pearson for building a Leicester team which I could be truly proud of. The best game was away at QPR, after they won their previous 3/4 games very convincingly, we put in a heroic performance to come back with the three points.

2010/2011

Crystal Palace Away 2-3, Portsmouth Away 1-6, Portsmouth Home 0-1, Reading Away 1-3

Played: 4 Won: 0 Drawn: 0 Lost: 4 For: 4 Against: 13

2011/2012

Reading Home 0-2

Played: 1 Won: 0 Drawn: 0 Lost: 1 For: 0 Against: 2

Overall Record:

Played: 30 Won: 5 Drawn: 6 Lost: 19 For: 34 Against: 59

Despite this rather pessimistic post, I am usually quite optimistic about Leicester's chances and I still feel no different now. I trust in Sven and I'm sure that we can still have a very good season. I would also like to add that I still think it's worth attending because I love my club and as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing quite like being roaring on your team with all your fellow Leicester fans, especially at away games. I should be able to make it to a decent number of games this season as I now have a better job and won't have to work every Saturday. Hopefully I can stop jinxing every game I attend :D.

Anyways, I'm curious as to how my record stacks up against some of the fine folk of Foxestalk. Obviously, I can appreciate that most of you will have had season tickets and supported the club for much longer than my self and therefore attended far more games. Plus many of you probably can't be bothered to do this, but, if you have nothing better to do on a Sunday, then why not give it a try :).

funnily enough my wife and i were on about this sort of thing after yesterdays game. More or less everytime the wife comes to the footy with me we play shite . . . . . . obviously i have tried to ban her a few times . . . . . . .sadly without successs as yet!!! The only games i can remember Leicester winning have been a 1-0 win against Plymouth and a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace both i think were a couple of seasons ago - other than that . . . . . . . . . . i can only remember defeats of draws where we have played badly, Blackpool at home 3 or 4 years ago 1-0 defeat, Reading at home yesterday 2-0 defeat, a 0-0 draw with Palace in the cup a couple of years ago, there are others but equally as rubbish either results or performance wise.

Im planning to chop a rabbits leg off and take that instead in future - only kidding animal lovers

My Aussie wife started with Leicester 0-5 Bolton, closely followed by Arsenal 4-0 Leicester.

She lost interest quickly, but I kept dragging her along to about 5 matches a season. I think she went through the entire Taylor/Adams/Levein/Kelly eras without seeing a win.

Quite an achievement.

I know it's not necessarily an overall record but, I've never seen us win with a clean sheet on my first competitive game of the season

Forest home 1-0 loss 2004/2005

Sheff Utd away 4-1 loss 2005/2006

Luton away 2-0 loss 2006/2007

Blackpool home 1-0 loss 2007/2008

Tranmere home 3-1 win 2008/2009

Swansea home 2-1 win 2009/2010

Middlesbrough home 0-0 draw 2010/2011

Reading home 2-0 loss 2011/2012

Weird :dunno:

When I take my son hes 6 now we win. He goes to about 7 games a season. Hes never seen us lose. Its really bizzare.

Out of interest, when did you start taking your son?

I have a 2.5 yo daughter and wanted to know how long I should wait till taking her to her first game.

I'm thinking about 4 yo should be ok?

I took my lad to his 1st city game at highbury when he was in one of those hamuck type things on my chest! It was a night game in the cup too! We live in London so I felt he had to be indoctrinated early doors ;-) He bought me a lager at cov away last week, he's 20 now! Payback lad ;-)

I watched city through the bulk of the Brian little and MON years.... City have never emulated these years since, with the possible exception of some good times under Micky Adams... None of this was about spending vast sums of money on players or having wealthy owners. Instead it was about managers having tactical acumen and signing the correct players to play in the correct positions

Finally it was about being able to generate fantastic team spirits, particularly under Brian little actually..

Brilliant post. Spot on. Money can only get you so far. You need a good manager putting players in the right positions, team spirit and a bit of luck.

When I listen to an away game on my own they always win. When my family also listen they often lose. Very strange.

Cheers pal... Though don't let 'nick' know you agree..

He'll be calling you an unpleasantry.... lol

And you are absolutely right about luck... If it hits the post and goes one way you're a winner... If it goes the other way you ain't...

After watching city since 1970, i've lost count of win/loss ratio. Now living in hampshire i see less match's but i get the feeling i'm a bit of a bad omen. Just looking foreward too the south coast match's, hopefully a few win's to shut up my southern workmates.

lol. Thats pretty amazing to be honest. I took my girlfriend to her first football game last season. We lost 6-1 to Portsmouth. She's now much more into bloody Reading and has a Reading top. :frusty:. A part of me died inside when I saw that yesterday.

No worries, so did I

Without going into stats that would depress me, my presence at home is usually a good omen.

My presence on the road usually means you can pop into Laddies and stick a tenner on the home team, you're unlikely to be £10 poorer by the end of the day.

To be fair, I thought we had that in a large part under Nigel Pearson. :dunno:

£10 MILLION on players and all we needed to do was give your lad a season ticket :crylaugh:

From now on, I will give any ticket I buy too your son. It'll hurt me, but it's for the greater good.

I'm sure i read somewhere that last week was the first time we had beat cov at their place for 5 or 6 years so i don't know about you record for 2007-2008, and try staying away from games we might win a few more lol

When I said 0-2 I meant we lost 2-0 (even though we were the away team. I did every game with the Leicester score being the first one.

And thanks for the advice lol.

My win/loss ratio is pretty good, we've won a good amount more than we've lost when I've been.

The early Premier League seasons plus two promotions (2002/03 and 2008/09) have helped that.

Posted

Until last season away at Forest I hadn't seen a Sven team lose. Bringing in Saturdays dismal performance into account I've only seen Sven lose twice. On top of that I've never seen city lose an FA Cup tie.
