We have a team full of players of which I'm convinced less than half know their roles. With Big Steve we have a focal point up front and someone for Nugent to play alongside. I would like to see him back in contention. He isn't the future but he is a threat, which at the minute we lack!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

we are not that desperate...

At least the man would try, challenge and show abit of passion.

He might try, challenge and show abit of passion.

Problem is he hasn't got the ability!

He offers something which any of our other strikers cannot offer; ariel ability. I would use Howard as an imapct substitute because sometimes we need a player who can come and challenge defenders, put a foot in etc

I would be tempted.

Even though Nugent is not blessed with epic amounts of pace, his work rate is first class and may just be a good foil for Howard. No question about Howard's commitment to the team and until we have better options, I feel he is better used than Waghorn.

totally agree about howard, for the lack of anything better at the moment., get him in,..nugent desperately needs someone to play off..we are painfully light weight up front....no threat in the air .one dimentional...howard could do a job for an hour.. it was so easy for a shaky bristol defence ,anybody who ain't worried is a fool.......

Dear lord no.

Was a decent player but not only is he too old and slow now he would also encourage a lump it near Howard and hope for the best mentality.

Yes why not? Nugent aint your sit on the last defender striker but he is quick and seeing as many people would like to see the 442 or 2 strikers up top then play them both!

Hi guys,

I read this forum regularly, but rarely post, so be gentle.

I have a feeling this post may p**s a few of you off, as it's hearsay. It's not my intention to do so.

I sit in L1. During half-time a friend who I sit with spoke to a steward and mentioned how we may as well have Howard on alongside Nugent (as we seemed to be resulting to long balls up to an isolated Nugent a bit). The steward told him that Howard had left training in a huff yesterday! Have any of you heard anything?

I'm not saying this happened or that it didn't, just that a steward mentioned it to a friend. I just wondered if there is any truth in it.

I'm not a WUM, he really was told that he 'stormed' out of training. However, I'm also not naive enough to think that stewards arn't full of sh**.

For what it's worth I though that the teams we played pre-season didn't really prepare us for the kinds of teams we'd be playing in the chapionship and that we'd probably have a sluggish start. It'll come good though, i'm sure of it.

Looking forward to Forest now. We will win, we have to win... I work in No******m for gods sake! :sweating:

hes not my favourite player at all but i agree whilst we are playing so woefully we could do worse than give him or Waggy a try from the start? :dunno:

This might not go down well but I'll say it anyway. I see the point people are trying to make about bringing Howard back, and I also see the point about not bringing him back, ie. not mobile enough, lacks the touch and ability.

We have someone who is capable of winning some headers, who actually has a half decent touch, and some creativity...Kermorgant.

All I'm saying is that it is an option.

Go ahead, ridicule me, but for those that are able to look past that one night in Cardiff, and stop being little bitches about it, you'll see I'm right.

He has to come back in. A much better option than Waghorn and he can hold the ball up. If we had him up there at least we'd be attempting to make forward passes instead of doing 1-2's along the back 4 for ****s sake. Anythings better than watching 4-5-1. Nugent and Howard up front and Nugent will bag.

Nothing against Howard but he is so easily neutralised nowadays and has about a quarter of the attributes we need.

Of our current options I'd persist with Schlupp - especially now it's clear we're not going up without major team changes - but that would still leave the need for a fast, evasive and creative, winger and a fast-passing, creative midfield player with the energy to drive himself forward into spaces.

Then we could sacrifice Kings potential for goals and assists by pushing him back as the fulcrum preventing goals ahead of the back four where his thoughtful shepherding would have served us far better than last night's rash and sloppy defending.

And if we get a better, more experienced striker than Schlupp the youngster could be developed as a genuinely attacking left-back leaving only the need for a new right back and for Tunchev's return at centre-back. Once that lot's sorted we could get promotion next year or, by some unlikely miracle, through the play-offs this year

At the moment Sven is snookered whatever system he uses because he hasn't got the personnel to make any system work consistently. Several of his signings look incapable of taking anyone up.
