Spirit?

Before I get down to business I'd just like to propose that we save some of the reactions I've read on here today and keep them safe until such a time that we can use them to embarrass and humilate their authors later in the season. Mind boggling thought processes going on here. Truly horrifying.

Anyway, the point of the thread is to ask those that have attended the 3 league games (and the cup game) how the team look from a slightly different perspective. Not about who played well, who fucked up and that but more about the body language of the players, who was vocal, who looked pissed off, etc.

If we're not functioning well as a team (for whatever reason) then it's even more important we have the right spirit and characters to keep heads held high, keep the effort levels up and to motivate and encourage. We obviously can't rely on our fans to do this so who looks like they can take charge on the pitch?

Much of the comments have focussed on individual players performances, I want to know about how they act, who the characters are, how they interact with each other (in the warm up as well as the game). Is this a team of slient types? Who's the joker? Are they hugging and high fiving as they walk off after warm up (Chris Powell style)? Have they bonded or do they look like a bunch of strangers?

Interested to hear your thoughts.

Against reading they were all shouting and pointing at each other mostly Wellens, Bamba, Mills, Kasper from memory. Last night not so much though except for Kasper.

Kasper seems the one to kick some @rse.

Some of the lads who've been here a while now dont seem to want to "step up"

Cant expect the new lads to just gel in after 3 games.

St Ledger is a cu.nt thou!!!

Spirit? Yes, I'll need a few whiskies before I next come on here after a loss. Not that it's been anything new of course, we seem to have some of the least patient fans in the league! Seriously, the forum has been a joke for the past 24 hrs.

To answer your question, I think we have plenty of leaders in the squad, and spirit shouldn't be an issue in a professional setup such as this. It's not like the Martin Allen days at least.

I feel there is a danger in spirit being lost through squad rotation, but haven't necessarily seen proof of that. Our overall problem seems to be our formation and a lack of purpose going forward.

People talk about Sven not having a plan B, but I think the reality is that we're actually operating on his plan B because we haven't been able to secure the elusive striker we so badly need.

Shoot me down if you will, but I feel we'd almost be better off playing Howard up front with Nugent right now, and sticking Dyer on the wing.

Expect results to be unconvincing until the end of the month, we'll get a big name in on loan again, and once we start to score more we'll be back on track.

I'd describe the last two home performances in three words:

Nervous, disorganised & tetchy.

Hopefully once we get a couple of decent results the players will relax a bit more.

I actually agree with you on this. It has to be worth a try doesn't it? They could compliment each other as Howard and Fryatt did at times under NP.
