Sniffer-Clarke Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Why are we struggling to sign a striker i just cannot understand it, we have a great fan base, great stadia, great training facilities, world re-nowned manager,a decent team, and would imagine we pay good wages. "SO WHERE IS THE PROBLEM "
Babylon Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Because we are trying to sign good in demand players. The end.

"SO WHERE IS THE PROBLEM " If we're trying to buy from Premier League clubs players don't seem to want to drop down a league. If we're trying for proven Championship strikers the clubs don't want to sell because we're major competition for promotion. Its not for our want of trying.
Guest MattP Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 We let everyone know we were loaded. Had we not this summer would of been far easier.
FallenAngel Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 The anticipation and hype affecting most of us but we need to remember that a lot of transfers are completed on the last day

Les-TA-Jon Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Strikers (of the quality we desire and require) are sought after by every club in the world. So clubs that have them hold onto them for as long as possible and we also have to compete with many many other clubs for these signings. Premiership players like Johnson, Beckford, Anichebe, Yak etc are wary of dropping down a level. Other championship players may well think they have a chance at bigger clubs, or clubs with more recent success - i.e West Ham, Cardiff, Forest, Reading Players on the cusp of Premier league - i.e Long and Maynard will prolong transfers to see if they can get into a premier league side. Championship sides are also reluctant to sell to their rivals.
21st Century Fox Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 We let everyone know we were loaded. Had we not this summer would of been far easier. Its not as if we could hide the very public knowledge of how much our owners are worth, they're listed in Forbes!!! 21. Vichai Raksriaksorn $205 million 49. Married, 4 children Founder of King Power Duty Free, leading operator of duty-free shops. Last year was awarded rights to operate retail at Thailand's new $4 billion airport. But new government canceled deal in March, citing irregularities. Raksriaksorn filed a lawsuit for compensation. Avid polo player has dozens of ponies and his own field.
Guest MattP Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 You can if you dont broadcast it, look at Stoke, they don't and their chairman is five times richer than Vichai. You might not be able to hide how much you are worth, but you can be a bit canny about how much you will spend.

You might not be able to hide how much you are worth, but you can be a bit canny about how much you will spend. How has the club broadcasted it?? Its been in the media, who can source that information from anywhere as I did when I googled Forbes. I'm assuming you read somewhere in the media that the Stoke chairman is loaded and he didn't personally tell you. We're looking to bring in players that clubs aren't willing to part with hence why we're making large bids. Stoke are throwing an £11 million bid a Peter Crouch aren't they.
Footnote75 Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 If things get really desperate, I will, for £1000 a week, make sure that I am standing in an onside position and kick the ball as hard as I possibly can towards the opposition's goal. It's probably better than nothing.
John Matrix Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 losses to reading at bristol at home along with less than convincing performances in the other league matches have hardly convinced potential signings that were gonna go straight up
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 30 August 2011 Author Posted 30 August 2011 losses to reading at bristol at home along with less than convincing performances in the other league matches have hardly convinced potential signings that were gonna go straight up Yeah, You do have a good point there
21st Century Fox Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 losses to reading at bristol at home along with less than convincing performances in the other league matches have hardly convinced potential signings that were gonna go straight up Although that could also make it seem as if we're even more desperate for a decent striker and they could stick us for even more cash, when it comes to contract time.
Tom17LCFC Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 We don't need one jokes Completely agree. Quite clear that Waggy's the answer to our problems.
Webbo Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 They all object to the Poznan/Man City. Would you want to sign for a team that sings "when the blues go marching in" at the wrong speed?

" Stoke are throwing an £11 million bid a Peter Crouch aren't they" we paid nearly half that for a mediocre centre back who cant even think of being on the same team sheet as Crouchy, stoke are in the prem so they have more income than us, also dont remember there owners saying that they will back the manager with as much as he needs unlike Leicester did
vegas Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 I heard it's because there are too many forum threads on why we haven't signed a 20 goals a season striker, that it puts everyone off.
21st Century Fox Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 " Stoke are throwing an £11 million bid a Peter Crouch aren't they" we paid nearly half that for a mediocre centre back who cant even think of being on the same team sheet as Crouchy, stoke are in the prem so they have more income than us, also dont remember there owners saying that they will back the manager with as much as he needs unlike Leicester did Crouch is surplus to requirements at Tottenham, where as Mills was Readings captain. Double edged sword, they either say they're backing the manager which shows ambition to potential signings or they don't and we're no different to any other club in our league, potentially. We're having trouble signing a striker because no one wants to part with they're best players, especially clubs in our league because its such a tight division anyone's practically a promotion rival. We want proven Championship standard and that isn't available without throwing stupid money at the problem.
Zingari Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 anyone we try to sign now is bound to be thinking they are about 20th choice
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Since we have Vassell, Nugent, Gallagher and Schlupp who are strikers aswell, there will be competition aswell
Basil Brush Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 we have been silly saying we have all this money, when really we should say we are skint or somthing so we get players cheaper. maybe we should shut up about how rich we are. people dont like us rubbing their noses in it. maybe thats why Bristol are refusing to now speak to us
