Finnegan Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 I'm surely not the only one that thinks the fact our country allows demonstrations like these because we're confident 90% of our population are smart enough to just roll their eyes and ignore a tiny, braindead minority is a credit to us all. Who gives a toss if equivalent anti-Islam protesters wouldn't get away with it in Saudi Arabia? Do you really want to ****ing live in Saudi Arabia?
Rincewind Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 isn't this better? I think so and I'm a non-believer.
Fox92 Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 What if they're born in Britain? If they were born here, they should follow our rules (if we had any!). If they are "British", then they should show respect, you know. They knew what they were doing, it was September 11th, and its funny how its never happened on any other day. Its just wrong. But as soon as an American threatens to burn a Quaran, they want him put in prison and World War 3 nearly breaks out. Its just not fair. What they did was totally wrong, and I cannot believe you are defending them. Most of you are saying its only a flag, but what about the people who are affected by 9/11? The people who attended the service at St. Pauls because, say, some of their family died. If you were one of them, you would probably be totally angry about the burning of an American flag. If these people want to do something, why can't they do something without bringing our country down? All this seems to happen in our country; the burning of a poppy happened in our country etc. We must be the only country where you can burn an American flag, or poppy, and only get a £50 fine. Away games cost more than that!

Bugg Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 Wow!! How on earth did you derive my supposed defence of Islamic Extremists from a six word question I posed???????? He did this to me earlier, then denied it.
Houdini Logic Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 If they were born here, they should follow our rules (if we had any!). What rules are these? Do you mean laws? Explain to me what you mean and then I might move on to the next part of your post
Houdini Logic Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 I'm surely not the only one that thinks the fact our country allows demonstrations like these because we're confident 90% of our population are smart enough to just roll their eyes and ignore a tiny, braindead minority is a credit to us all. I also think it's a credit to us all that we realise they're about as much of a threat as a silent wet fart - they're not hardline jihadists, they're a bunch of WUMs with a lighter. Let them stand there and shout nonsense, whilst making themselves look like absolute pricks. To me it's no different to a BNP or EDL protest - let them have their 15 minutes and then go back to their disilluioned lives, while the rest of us go about our business trying to live slightly productive lives...
Rincewind Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 I think of it as the Alf Garnett syndrome. The character used to spout off ridiculous racial comments that were easily shot down by the other characters. The problem was there were people that started to take his ramblings seriously and did not appreciate that Johnny Speight was actually mocking him. The same thing happened with leaders of the BNP etc. Still ifthe majority see the extremists for what they are, a few nutters with very shallow lives and get on with other things these people will soon vanish. Don't give them the publicity that they crave for.
breadandcheese Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 I can understand why people get so annoyed by these flag burners as they are vile beyond contempt, but why a thread of 6 pages for such a small section of people here in the UK? There's been very little mention of the muslim counter demonstration against the flag burners to show that the extremists represent nobody but a small group of morons. The Telegraph had a quote from one bloke who had bussed down from Glasgow (a fair old journey by road) so that he could join the counter demonstration and show that the flag burners did not represent him.

It's not like you're demonstrating against an impending war or tax hike - you'd only be demonstrating against idiots and free speech. I think my counter protest of walking around Dovedale and realising what an amazing country we have was far more productive
RizLCFC Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 Being a young Muslim in this country I am thankful for everything that England have given to me and my family such as work, education, a home etc. I also thank my god Allah for everything he has given to me as ultimately whatever we have comes from him. Just a couple of points regarding the video and Muslims in general. Firstly, we don't condone terrorism in Islam, terrorists are not our friends, they are in fact our opposition and the MAJORITY of Muslims will fight with the rest of the world to destroy terrorism. Secondly, the reason people don't see the work carried out by Islamic scholars to counter terrorism is because this happens mainly through lectures and speeches in mosques across the world, which the media don't have access to. Some Muslims destroy the reputation of Islam through disgraceful acts of behaviour which the media seem to highlight immediately, but believe me as a religion we are working on it. Islam clearly believes in peace, love and harmony and it teaches us to do this with people from every religion. The Quran doesn't teach Muslims to be violent, certain quotes are misinterpreted to anger others and if you don't believe this then I urge you to buy a Quran in english and read for yourself. Finally, don't let certain members of humanity destroy your views on us, they have already tarnished the reputation of Muslims throughout the world but they are a MINORTIY which use the name 'Islam' to divert responsibility on it for their ridiculous acts of violence, it is certainly not preeched or promoted anywhere.

Houdini Logic Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 What do you mean mate? Don't worry, it was a compliment
RizLCFC Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 Don't worry, it was a compliment Ah...thanks mate!
Fox92 Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 One of the flag burners said: "You will always face suffering, you will always face humiliation, unless you withdraw your troops from Muslim lands." If they are so bothered about Muslim Lands, why don't they live there? Instead there are demonstrating and making the country look bad, again.

From our perspective it does hurt to see so many innocent Muslims killed in the wars and countries totally demolished but, these extremists take it too far by saying stuff such as what you quoted above, once again putting the people and the word 'Muslim' to shame. They don't realise that many Muslims were also killed in the disgraceful 9/11 attacks, but let's hope anyway that we can work together and sort out the worlds mess!

I know not everyone is like that, but it just annoys me when they do this sort of stuff. It was be pretty good if we had World peace and nobody did feel threatened.

Everyone with the "send them back to where they come from" mentality should be forced to sit and have a conversation with someone who's a practising 'everyday' Muslim who represents the majority of Muslims and see how they feel then. Maybe it'd drill it into their heads not to tar everyone with the same brush.
Fox92 Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 He did this to me earlier, then denied it. Don't think I did. People with your attitude will ruin our country, not these mad cretins How so? Everyone with the "send them back to where they come from" mentality should be forced to sit and have a conversation with someone who's a practising 'everyday' Muslim who represents the majority of Muslims and see how they feel then. Maybe it'd drill it into their heads not to tar everyone with the same brush. I know. I'm not saying they are all the same, I've explained that in the post above. Its just that the people that do want to publically take action should look at what they are doing - this sort of this offends people.

RizLCFC Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 Good stuff. Also, on Friday 9th September during the Friday prayer sermon, scholars from across the world offered prayers and remeberence to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy, things which the media can't pick up and highlight but it does happen
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 September 2011 Posted 14 September 2011 I don't think it's about black and white. Anyone of any race can convert to islam. There was a jokey comment earlier in the thread about a Ginge getting involved. To steal from Sam Harris, the root cause of these problems is the willingness of some people to embrace unfounded beliefs about a 'creator' of the universe and how this deity wants people to act under the threat or promise of an imagined afterlife. Just saying, like... You are right. I had a colleague who was a white Muslim. Lovely guy, but against hid religion to give to charity. Turned down children with cancer, but regularly paid towards his religion. Say no more.

Like, you know.... just checking you realise that....
