Anish Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 Couldn't give a toss about the League Cup first round to be honest
Katy Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 Couldn't give a toss about the League Cup first round to be honest 126720 What even though we are in it?
Sam Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 Hopefully we will go out straight away to someone crap so then we can concentrate on the league.
Mark Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 Hopefully we will go out straight away to someone crap so then we can concentrate on the league. 126723 Didn't a certain Cup run help us buy Paddy Mac and Steven Hughes? They probably wouldn't have arrived until the Summer, maybe not at all in Paddy's case given the manager change. While trying out some youngsters like Wezza, we have to try to get as far as possible, much needed cash.

Sam Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 I'd like us to try in the FA cup as we can face teams which we can beat but in the league cup we are more likely to face tougher teams and I just think it's a waste of time even trying.

(was the F.A cup though) I wouldnt like to be going up to Carlisle on as weeknight though! a nice trip to play chesterfield or a home tie will do me just fine!
Hitesh Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 Why at 7am? Some right idiots at the Football League! Anyway, it would be nice to have some sort of cup run, just to get some money. But just make sure it doesnt distract us from the league. Would be nice to get an easy first round coz a win would give us some confidence, which is much needed this early in the season. Keeps momentum going.
Nationwider Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 Come on people. We won the thing twice, remember!!! It's OUR competition. Let's not get all Ferguson & Wenger about the competition. Anyway, a good League Cup run = dosh for the club, and every cup run is exciting, once you've got a couple of wins under your belt. Darlo away in R1, please. Then Forest in R2!

If we get far in this competition, then who's going to complain? A good run in the League Cup can be extremely beneficial, as we've found out before - If it conflicts with our league program, we can give some of our promising youth players a run out. Besides, the average age of our squad will be lower, and therefore fitness/tiredness shouldn't be a problem.
Cobbo Posted 23 June 2005 Posted 23 June 2005 I love playing League Cup games, especially if we get a really small club whom we rarely play, if ever. Love it
supedaj Posted 24 June 2005 Posted 24 June 2005 yep - we deffo need the cup run. Lower league teams will give us a good game and winning these will give us confidence. If we go far we get money. Its the best thing we could hope for. If we lose a few in the league we always get a chance in the league to freshen up and refocus.. rather than dwelling a week until the next league fixture. 'Concentrating on the league' only rarely works - just means players have a few more days to practise - no better practise than a good solid cup run in my opinion. I cant beleive some fans are just against the cups - especially given the financial and confidence gain they could provide. The positives easily outweight the negatives.. and yes we arent the likes of arsenal or man utd where a fixture congestion is going to mean us being tired for european games. Every team is in the same boat so I suggest all the negative fans just accept it and hope the boys can get far (Has it been than long since MON left the club?) sigh ..

Matt Posted 27 June 2005 Posted 27 June 2005 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~678143,00.html Typical of our OS...What dickhead put Blue writing on a Blue background (Especially when its a similar kind of blue - I have pretty good eyesight and I struggle to read it, so god help people with not very good eyesight!) Rant Over - Sorry for the rant, but the OS is so annoying and so badly put together as we have all said before!
