ramboacdc Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 i was sitting down my sisters. having a couple of beers and watching the chelsea game. checking up on the leicester score every now and again when bang on 9pm i got a phone call from an unknown number. i answer and on the other end is a nice Asian man saying "helli im calling from bbc radio leicester are you at the game?" i answered "no im at my sisters watching the chelsea game and listening to the radio." they then asked how i thought it was going tonight and stuff like that. he then asks me if i want to get onto the radio after the game? i polietly decline as i hadnt heard much of the game and he says he will ring me on saturday for my thoughts on the derby game. has this ever happene to anyone else that they have rang you like half way through the game and asked for your opinions? i dunno if it was my mates having a joke or not.
Yojoe36 Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I'd be scared if I were you. Are you SURE it was the BBC?
ramboacdc Posted 28 September 2011 Author Posted 28 September 2011 Maybe a betting company? wouldnt be a betting company. he kept saying he was from the BBC. i could hear something in the back groudn that sounded like commentary but i couldnt be sure. like i said i had the chelsea game on in the room i was in.

somebum Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 ive text them before and gave stringer my number once when i met him. about it really. Was it followed by a flash of the eyelids and a 'call me'?
Jace Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 did they call on the landline or your mobile? if it was the landline asking if you are at the match then it is deffo a wind up!
BoneDog Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I reckon they are fed up with the repeat callers who are getting them stick and have decided to branch out a bit and get in touch with folk whose numbers they have.
ramboacdc Posted 28 September 2011 Author Posted 28 September 2011 Was it followed by a flash of the eyelids and a 'call me'? haha. nah i tweeted it him after i met him in coalville. he seemed to think i was a member of the fosse boys O_o did they call on the landline or your mobile? if it was the landline asking if you are at the match then it is deffo a wind up! har har har! when i first read this i took it seriously and it took me a minute to understand haha.
Dan Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Rang me before when I've texted the phone-in. Never ever fancy going on though.
thybluefox Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 At the start of the season Stringer was asking for people's contact details if they fancied being contacted in the future, sure you didn't reply?
ramboacdc Posted 28 September 2011 Author Posted 28 September 2011 At the start of the season Stringer was asking for people's contact details if they fancied being contacted in the future, sure you didn't reply? not got a clue! ive slept since then.
LCFC BEAST Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Same thing happened to me at the Brighton game. At half time I got a call from an unknown number asking if I was at the game and I said yes then he goes I'll ring you back after the game. Then after the game they rang again with an Indian man with a strong accent saying he was from BBC Radio Leicester and what I thought of the game so I told him then he said if I would like to talk to them live so I said ok. They rang if you replied to one of Stringer's tweets near the beginning of the season asking if anyone would like to be a junior reporter or something like that. In all honesty I thought it was my uncle playing a joke on me!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I've been called once, wanted an Aussies opinion about England suddenly beating them in all sports........Wankers! Stringer probably wants you too pull his 3rd leg.....Dutch Rudder style
Kitchandro Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 So you said you were watching the Chelsea game and then they asked you if you'd like to give some thoughts on the Leicester game? If you've wondered why we get such shit callers, there's your answer.

If you've wondered why we get such shit callers, there's your answer. yeah. i was debating winging it but thought it wasnt the best idea. if you want to know the chelsea game wasnt the best either. could have been 3-3 but a draw was the ideal result from the play. also torres missed another sitter.

This is a warning! Make sure your phone is off Never had this before, although Birch did ring me once and tried to make me buy some tickets.
iann1982 Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 I've been contacted by RL before, and it was a withheld number - 5 minutes later I was on air, something totally non football related. Have you contacted them before about games? Perhaps they were short on views and ringing around?
GianEmmo Zola Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Iv got called last season and went on air. Then i met up with stringer in the comm box. To have an interview ha. Loved it
Mack Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Stringer is obviously running a burglar's ring. Get's his mate light fingered faisal to call and see if you are at the game then nips round and lifts your flat screen and ps3.
