davieG Posted 3 October 2011 Posted 3 October 2011 OS City's international contingent will meet up with their national squads from today, ahead of another busy weekend of football around the world. Sean St. Ledger, Andy King and Gelson Fernandes will all be involved in the closing stages of qualification for Euro 2012, while John Pantsil and Yuki Abe will also be representing their nations during the break from npower Championship action. St. Ledger's Republic of Ireland face a crucial double-header which sees them travel to Andorra on Friday and host Armenia on Tuesday - two games they surely must win to challenge Group B leaders Russia for automatic qualification to next year's Finals in Poland and Ukraine. In Qualification Group G, where England will secure passage to the Finals with a point in Montenegro, King's Wales host Fernandes' Switzerland in Swansea on Friday night. Neither nation can challenge England for top spot in the group, but a Three Lions win in Montenegro could open the door for Switzerland to challenge for a play-off place. The Swiss would have to beat the Welsh on Friday and then overcome Montenegro in Basel on Tuesday in their final game. Wales' final game sees them travel to Bulgaria on Tuesday. In qualification for the 2012 Africa Cup on Nations, Sol Bamba will miss the already-qualified Ivory Coast's final game against Burundi on Sunday. But John Pantsil's Ghana still have some work to do to ensure their place in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in the New Year. If they avoid defeat in their final game in Sudan on Saturday they will top the group, before travelling to the UK for a rearranged friendly against Nigeria at Watford's Vicarage Road next Tuesday. Yuki Abe completes the first team international involvement when Japan play Vietnam in a friendly in Hyogo on Friday, before hosting Tajikistan in their latest 2014 World Cup qualifier in Osaka on Tuesday.

Ric Flair Posted 3 October 2011 Posted 3 October 2011 I wonder if Wellens was Japanese or Welsh he'd get the gig for them? I have my doubts
RowlattsFox Posted 6 October 2011 Posted 6 October 2011 Don't know where to put this, but Waghorn has just been stretchered off for the under 21s tonight, suspected hamstring.
