From Sky Sports

David Beckham says he is flattered to be wanted by Paris St Germain, but says the happiness of his family will dictate his next move.

The former England captain's contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy expires at the end of the Major League Soccer season and Beckham has yet to make a decision on his future.

PSG are keen to bring the ex-Manchester United midfielder to France, while the likes of Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with offers for the 36-year-old.

Beckham has worked previously with PSG sporting director Leonardo during his two loan spells at AC Milan and has been keeping a close eye on happenings in the French capital.

Exciting time

He told sports.fr: "I had a good relationship with him when I was in Milan the first time and also when he was manager the second time.

"He's a great sporting director and a wonderful person. I'm flattered that he wants me to come join him and the team in Paris, but I'm a Galaxy player, I live in Los Angeles, I am happy there and I play for them.

"There are great things happening in France at several clubs, but it's an exciting time for PSG... Leonardo joining them, the money the club has, so it's an interesting club."

"This (the family) is the number one priority, family comes first and where they are happy is where I stay, it's that simple."

Beckham and former pop star wife Victoria recently had their fourth child and he is adamant his family's considerations will be paramount in deciding where to go next, with clubs from Brazil and the Middle East also reportedly interested.

"This (the family) is the number one priority, family comes first and where they are happy is where I stay, it's that simple," he added.

"My children go to school in LA and have done for five years. They are at the age where stability is important, so we'll see. I always said I will wait until the end of the season, see how I feel physically and then decide.

"There is no urgency on my part obviously. It is important that I focus on the rest of the season.

"We should make the play-offs, we still have two matches to go and I will focus on the season and worry about the rest later."

No mention of us in this. I doubt we feature on his radar at all.

While we're on the subject of grammar, I was typing up my lecture notes from earlier when MS Word flagged up this bit:

Due to steric repulsion between substituents, a co-ordination number of more than 6 is very unusual in main group chemistry.

Claiming that I should use are instead of is in that sentence, however in the context put there I believe is to be acceptable and are should only be used if it read "co-ordination numbers of more than 6".

Who's right, Me or MS Word?

You're talking about one quantity of more than 6, not more than 6 of something, so "is" is correct.

You are not signifying a direct number, so I think "is" would be correct.

My English has gone downhill with age though, it gets to me now, I hate to imagine how people like Terry Pratchett felt when they couldn't spell anymore. :dunno:

Am I the only one that just wants him to sign for someone so we can stop all these shit threads?

Any attempt to sign him will be for the income it could generate for the club, more than ever we are a potential money making operation, football is a sideline / hobby combination.

Signing David Beckham would be worth at least £50 million a year to Leicester City, says a leading expert in football finance.

City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has confessed he has spoken to 36-year-old Beckham about joining City as a player-coach when his contract at LA Galaxy finishes, and said he had not said no to his offer.

Tom Cannon, professor of Strategic Development at the University of Liverpool Management School and considered to be an expert on sports finance, economics and business, said: "Beckham is a global superstar. When he signed for Real Madrid, within weeks they had sold enough shirts and merchandise to recoup the £25 million transfer fee they paid for him.

"All the shirts and merchandising that his signing would generate would be worth tens of millions.

"Obviously, it would depend on the deal. Beckham is a very smart operator and whether he would sign over so much of his merchandising rights to Leicester as he did to Real is an awkward question.

"It could be worth, though, about £25 million in the first year.

"Then you take into account his media profile. The media coverage could be worth as much again, at least. It would move Leicester City from two pages inside the sports sections to the front pages, not just in England but all around the world.

"Then you have ticket and corporate sales. The stadium would be full every week, and then you would sell more corporate sponsorship packages.

"It could be worth as much as £50 million in total in the first year.

"However, Beckham has always said he would only play for one English team, Manchester United, and Leicester will be in a very long line of clubs trying to sign him, including Premier League clubs like Tottenham, Everton, Liverpool, as well as teams abroad."

But Jim Saker, professor of retail management at Loughborough University, said it would have more benefits overseas than it would in the Leicester community.

Professor Saker said the club's Thai owners would see more of a benefit.

"I don't think it would be a brand match made in heaven," he said.

"It would be massive internationally and the club would benefit from the exposure overseas, because he is this global brand. It would be a good investment from the owners in that sense.

"But, in Leicester, I don't think the impact would be as great as a player coming from the Premier League to transform the team."
